*Eric swallowed hard as he watched Luis hit the floor and as soon as the man grinned at him he realized he had fallen into the trap set for him. Just like a bear through a trappers forrest he foolishly let himself get caught and inwardly he cursed himself for this, though on the outside he said nothing. Did nothing. Only stood there blank and emotionless.
He let the man he hated most in the world get the best of him and he was beginning to regret having ever come on the ship. As Evelyn shoved past him and dropped to the floor to aid Luis, Eric glarred slightly at both of them and shook his head, slumping against the wall opposite the one he smashed Luis into. How could she defend this man? Could she not see right through him?
Eric opened his mouth to defend himself as she yelled at him but it was obvious he wasn't going to get a word in. He walked up to her, shoving his hands in his pockets as he stared at her for a long time, almost as if he were trying to read her thoughts by gazing into her eyes. Finally he lowered his own, casting a side long glare at Luis and he shrugged a little.* If you think this was one sided, Evelyn then you have a lot to learn. And if you think he's here to return to you then I AM glad I came on this bloody ship. You'll see in the end who he really is. *He stated firmly, looking back at her.* Even if the cost of it is you hating me. *He said almost to quiet to hear as he shuffled off, rubbing his throbbing fist as he made towards the galley to fetch something to put on it.
He couldn't believe all that had just happened. He decided to pass on the galley and went straight up to his cabin, slamming the door shut and slumping against it, sliding down it until he sat on the floor just gazing angrily ahead. He knew if she harbored any feelings for him at all, they would probably be smashed by Luis. He shook his head and sighed heavily, finding it strange that after an entire year he seemed to still care this much.*

Evelyn kept her arms on her hips and then folded her arms as he spoke to her. She remained rather silent the entire time, groaning a bit knowing that for ONCE Eric was right. She couldn't completely blame him for this and she shot a glance at Luis hatefully. Then she shook her head. No, Eric was ultimately the one in the wrong though, he HAD punched him. As she watched Eric storm off she shook her head and rolled her eyes.
"Luis mate, get yerself cleaned up, grab a rag and head ta my room, savvy? I'll get ye cleaned up. I'm sorry 'bout this." She sighed heavily, feeling for SOME odd reason a bit responsible. She knew Eric could get testy at times and she shook her head. She should have been firmer. Although Eve had more important things ta do on board than watch him ALL the time. As Luis spoke to her she lifted a brow. "Eric, say things li' tha' 'bout me?" she asked him with a bit of doubt in her eyes, but he seemed sincere. And besides, she HAD only heard that he said he HAD loved her. Passed tense...he could potentially really hate her now for all she knew.
As Luis agreed and gave her a nod and a smile. She stormed down the hall and headed towards Eric's room, pounding angrily on his door, not able to contain her frustration really. "Eric mate! Open the bloody door!" She called at him. She was confused at the moment, HAD he any feelings for her? Or was this simply some male, protective instinct he had over her? Well he couldn't have cared much if didn't even heed her word. But then again Luis COULD push ones buttons she knew that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luis gave a sly smile and then looked up at Evelyn. "Thank you, Evelyn. I am TERRIBLY sorry if I caused any harm. Please pass on my apology to Eric. I know you did not wish us to bicker, its just...you should have heard the things he said about you..." Luis said with a fake frown. As Evelyn stormed away he knew he was getting to her and he knew his plan was slowly being placed on the right track. With that he headed to her room gladly. He could have a good look about her room, perhaps, scrounge about her belongings...
*Erics mind was a swirling hurricain of thoughts, few of them good and all of them confusing. He bumped his head up against the door a couple times as if somehow that would help and he frowned.* Gah, what am I doing here? *He asked and jumped startled as a loud bang erupted on the door. He spund around on his knees and raised a brow as he heard Evelyns heated voice.
Was she going to give him another lecture? He rose slowly to his feet, lingering in his spot a moment pondering if he even wanted to open the door. He chewed his lip a bit and finally reached out, turned the knob, and opened it. He didn't stay though and instead walked over to the port hole, leaning against the wall as he looked out it.*
Always have to get in the last word, don't you. *He grunted, gazing at the sparkling sea waters that shimmered like glass as the Pearl cut through the waves. It was unbelievable to him that so many emotions, many of them harsh, could exist in a place that was seemingly so pure.*
Eve was about to bang no the door yet again when the door opened. Her mouth was open but she closed it rapidly as she peered into his room a bit. Evelyn sighed heavily, almost afraid to step across the threshold. The last time she was here, she had ended up in Eric's bed, and a slight smirk crossed her face but she shook her head.
"No...actually...well...." Eve tried responding sarcastically to Eric's comments but she sighed heavily. "Ye know me too well I s'ppose..." she said with a small laugh. Then she shook her head and pulled back a few of her brown tendrils. "Listen, Eric, 'm not here ta yell at ye...anymore that is..." she began as she stepped towards him a bit, but then made a small detour and instead rapped her fingers upon his wash basin. "I jus'...I KNOW Luis isn' exactly...a saint." She stated crossing her arms and then biting her nails a bit. "But, I jus', I REALLY didn' want you two ta fight that way. Jus'...well I was hopin' ye could 'ave held back." Eve stated as she stared at her gnawed fingernails.
"I know ye can lose control sometimes an' I dunno...I jus'...maybe I was lookin' out fer ye...er...er maybe I jus' didn' want ta see ye get tossed overboard." Evelyn said as she looked at Eric, hoping he'd glance her way but he hadn't. Instead, he remained looking out at sea. She went to take a seat upon his bed and gave a small chuckle. "The las' time I was in here...we had ended up in bed together, remember that?" Eve asked him lifting a brow and smoothing her hand over his bedsheets, looking at it sadly as she suddenly remembered the words that had been thrown at her here too.
"Do....do ye ever wonder...if, if we made the right choice?" she asked him reluctantly, but not able to resist what was so strong in the pit of her stomach. "I mean...what if? After ye left..." she hung her head and stared at the ground. "I, I wasn' sure if we had. But...ye know, when I saw ye happy with Elinor, then I thought...it really was for the best. It was the best sort of life for ye really...but...I dunno. Jus' did ye...EVER wonder?" she gave a short laugh suddenly, trying to lighten the mood. "I kinda missed havin' someone ta fight with all the time..." she said as she bit her nails once again.
"Ye know what? Never mind...'m sorry Eric. Ye didn' come here fer me to probe ye..." she sighed heavily as she headed for the door to his room.
*Eric grinned ever so slightly as she fumbled with her words. He shrugged a little, figuring he knew her as well as he could considering in all honesty he hadn't known her truely but for a few weeks. He listened as she spoke, his back ever to her. His lips formed a crooked frown and his shoulders slumped.* I'll held back as long as I could, Evelyn. But with the things he was saying I just...I coulnd't. *He said, still watching the waves in the sea.
He grinned a little as she mentioned him getting tossed overboard and for a brief moment the memory of them dangling over the edge together filled his mind. He shook his head a little, doubting that Luis could throw him overboard unless he was caught off guard but he said nothing.
Suddenly she mentioned the night they had woken up in the same bed, a surprise it had been to them both. Without meaning to he smiled warmly and turned to face her, nodding.* I remember that. *He said softly. Again Elinor was mentioned and he cringed at this. How did she always seem to find her way into conversations?* I always wonder, Evelyn. *He said, and he always had wondered about what really happened that night, about what would have happened if he had stayed. As she made to leave he reached out and tenderly grabbed her arm.*
We didn't. *He said, looking her over, referring to whether they had or hadn't that night. Somehow he knew nothing more than rest and a couple hangovers had happened in that room.* If we ever had, it would have been more special than that. *He said, feeling his face and neck grow hot. Then he shrugged and cleared his throat akwardly.* But uh yeah so I guess you probably want to tend to Luis so I'll uh...I'll let you be on your way. *He said clearing his throat and stepping away from her.*
Evelyn made to leave when Eric gently grabbed her arm. She froze, her muscles all tensing as he reached out to her and she turned to face him. She stood in front of him and almost couldn't help just freezing up completely. She, Evelyn Pearl, was nervous...it happened rarely and she cursed under her breath when it did happen but she couldn't even bring herself to say even THAT now.
Instead she looked upwards at him, suddenly remembering how his height had played a part in their first kiss...well at least the one she consented to. She gave him a soft smile, one that hadn't been seen in a long while. "I, I know...but I have ta admit, even THEN, I didn' really want ta wake. I only acted the way I did because...well..." Eve shrugged. "Because I was angry at ye at the time, and damned rightly so." She nodded laughing softly. She swallowed hard and sighed deeply. "Eric...I'm...I'm sorry. For all this mess I brought on ye. Maybe it would have been better if I NEVER went back to Port Royale. Maybe I should have jus' bloody stayed on the ship, that way we wouldn' have met again. I just...I know yer happy with that WOMAN, but." She was frustrated. Inwardly she still hurt, and even standing in front of him, on the verge of being able to physically touch him again, she couldn't stand it.
It took all she had not to just grab hold of him, bawl, and tell him everything that she had thought. How she missed him, how she went cold after he left, how she hated herself for not leaving WITH him, how for a time she hated HIM. He had been the only one who truly understood her at that time and she missed him SO much that she found herself crying night after night for a week or so after he left. Instead she shook her head. "Never mind me mate...I jus'....its good ta see ye. I jus' hope...ye don' regret having met me. I don' regret meeting you...but I jus'...GAH! Never mind..." she mumbled as she bit her nails and then made to storm out before she did something drastic, like cry, or yell, or just...embrace him...the last impulse she had thought of scared her...he was getting to her...AGAIN.
*Eric laughed a little as she did, rubbing the back of his neck and bobbing his head. He knew what she meant and she was right, he never blamed her for her anger towards him that night. He deserved all the wrath she gave.* I know, and I'm still deeply sorry about that. *He said and then looked upon her with surprise as she spoke again.
He shook his head at all her words, not agreeing with any of them. Not even the last bit about Elinor.* Evelyn, Im glad you came back. Even if we met again on bitter terms. And you dont know if I was happy with Elinor. I mean she was there for me for the past year, she was company but I just... *He said, his voice trailing off, not really wanting to say he had almost made a huge mistake with her.
He smiled as she began mumbling, chewing on her nails again. It was a habit that greatly annoyed him and so he reached out slowly and lowered her hand, knowing she hated when he did that but he couldn't help it. He held her hands for a moment, feeling his heart quicken and he swallowed hard. He took a step towards her, still looking at her and suddenly he took quite a few steps back until he bumped into a dresser and he folded his arms.* The only thing I regret now is that I let you go. *He said finally after a long pause.
However he knew if he stayed near her any longer he would give into the feelings he had harbored so long ago, the feelings he tried to force from his heart but without avail. He wanted to hold her again, feel her warmth against him, her hair upon his cheek, her hands about his neck. Her lips on his....but no it couldn't happen. It would only complicate things further.* I uh...I think I should probably go...I should go now. *He stuttered and quickly rushed past her and out of the cabin.*
Sarah smiled as Maria followed her below deck. Sarah grabbed two bottle for herself and popped off the cap to one with ease. She then held it up and gently hit Maria's bottle with her own. To a better life! Sarah then took a long sip from the bottle. Her first reaction was to spit it out, but after she was able to hold the first swig down the rest went down easily. Relaxing her nerves but causing her body to want more of the golden liquid. She then saw Evelyn peek her head down and tell them to save some for the crew. Don't worry, Jack's stored enough to satisfy the whole Caribbean!
Roux just laughed and smiled at Lily and Mark. Sailing with Captain Sparrow somehow turned even the most sane pirates mad by the end of the trip.
He kissed Linea's head and smiled: "I'm beginning to feel bad for the newer crew. I don't think they know what they've gotten themselves into."
Evelyn stood there a bit speechless as he mentioned that she didn't know if he was truly happy with Elinor. Eve stared at him, searching his face carefully and was slightly confused. Was this to mean he wasn't really all that happy with her then? Could he possibly regret ever leaving then? He trailed off as she mentioned she was just company, but how could that be if she had spotted them so close to one another when she burst through his door?
She pulled back a few strands of her curls, now starting to regret she ever came here. She really shoul had just gone back to her room with Luis, but no. She simply HAD to stop in here and HAD to have the last word. Typical really...and she didn't like this sort of impulse she had. She was slowly beginning to realize how hot headed she can be herself. When Eric pulled away her hand from her mouth she glared at him briefly. " 'ey! What now I can'..." but just as she had begun to retort his hand lingered and she looked down at them. She looked back up, jerking her head slightly and bit her lip as he took a step forward. Slowly...Eve closed her eyes...her heart beating quickly but then...just as quickly as it had all begun it was pulled away.
Her eyes sprang open as he bumped into his dresser and he stuttered a bit. Eve gave him a small, almost encouraging smirk but then shook her head and looked to the ground. He seemed to take his actions back, he was doubting whether he should do this and Eve could understand. Perhaps he felt he was supposed to remain loyal to Elinor...
As the last phrase slipped out of his mouth she looked up at him and she brought a hand to her mouth, silencing any sort of gasp or sob that might resound. As he quickly made his exit Eve stood there in shock, not knowing exactly what to think. Something or someone MUST be holding him back, she thought. Or else why would he tell her these things and then simply leave? She shook her head gently and rubbed her face a bit, her mind going in many different directions. Then she took a deep sigh and turned around. No...he couldn't still love her...if he had, he wouldn't have left her there...standing alone.
"Gah, bloody idiot...why do I let myself fall fer this load o' bullocks in the first place?" She said to herself in a soft growl as she headed away and out of the room. Eve's honeyed eyes turned to look at her door and she entered it, slamming the door behind her a bit and cursing under her breath. She turned and saw Luis there, grinning up at her with a swollen cheek and a few bandages and rags in his hands.
"Evelyn. Glad to see you have returned sometime this century...I was beginning to fear you would never come back for me." He told her flashing her a pearly white, charming, grin. His eyes searched her over and he could tell she wasn't in the best of spirits and watched as she stormed to his side.
"No, mate...that's exactly what YOU do." She told him giving him a deadly glare then taking up a seat and placing it beside the bed. She took up a rag, dipped it into the cold waters and then tossed him the rag. "There ye can clean yerself up." She told him a bit gruffly.
Luis blinked and looked her over curiously. "I, I am sorry...perhaps...perhpas I should not have come here. I know I am not wanted, there was no reason for me to barge in on this life you have built for yourself. I simply wanted you to forgive me..." Luis began slowly, piecing together the RIGHT words to bring Evelyn's walls down for her. He stood and made for the door, his head hanging. Just then, he felt a hand upon his arm and he smirked slyly.
"Wait, Luis mate...gah...sit the bloody 'ell down will ye?" she told him sternly and she pointed towards her bed. With that he took his seat, rather eagerly she thought, and she took up the rag and wiped the blood from his face for him. " 'M sorry mate. Jus' havin' a bit of a bad day really." She told him as her eyes scanned his face briefly but she shook her head slightly. Luis was handsome, of course, but at the moment she was a bit caught up with Eric still although, she HATED being that way.
"Really? Well if I have caused this hurt to you I am terribly sorry Evelyn." He began as he rested his hands upon the bed and allowed her to clean him up a bit. She was surprisingly gentle really. He had expected this hardened woman's touch to be a bit rough, like the trade she belonged to, but had a woman's gentle hands still and he gave a slight smirk at this. "Evelyn...if I may. I wonder if perhaps you would join me for dinner tonight." Luis stated as he looked up at her.
He locked his eyes onto her face, making it impossible for her to simply ignore his gaze. As she looked up at him he gave her a smile. "Please? It is ALL I ask of you. That way I can have SOME sort of peace of mind." Luis stated as he placed a hand upon hers and pulled her hand away from his face.
Evelyn looked to Luis as he made his offer to her and she shook her head. "Hm...I'm not sure Luis I jus'..." but as his hand settled upon hers Eve could only sigh and pulled away slightly from his srtong grip. The fact that his hand had rested about hers a bit tightly made her lift a brow but she shrugged this off. "Ye know what? Fine..." she said as she dropped the rag into the small wash basin. "But no funny stuff, alrigh'?" she told him sternly, pointing her finger at him.
Luis chuckled at her reaction. "Funny? Since when have I EVER been a comical person Evelyn?" he asked her. He stood and made to leave when he gave a groan. Evelyn looked to him curiously and he crumpled onto her bed a bit. "GAH!" He cried out and turned his face away from her but smiling evilly inwardly.
Eve looked him over with concern and she furrowed her brows. "Luis? Luis mate, what's wrong?" she asked him as she walked towards him quickly. Her hands went to touch his shoulder gently.
Luis smiled and then turned and cringed. "Gah...its nothing really. I think maybe when Eric pushed me agains the wall, however, I MIGHT have gotten bruise, would you care to take a look for me? Its on my lower back..." he stated. Just then he made to remove his shirt and turned.
Evelyn blinked as he removed his shirt and she bit her lip a bit. "Erm...yeah...mate ye do." She said as she gently prodded the bruise upon his back. She caught sight of his tanned physique and she bit her nails a bit. It was a bit uncomfortable really, and what was worse, she wasn't sure if she exactly hated the whole situation. "Erm...ahem...er...y,yeah....mate ye do. Jus'...have a bit o' rest an' ye'll be fine..." she said a bit awkwardly. "And erm, I'll see ye tonight then." She stated with a bit of a stutter and turned, leaving the room quickly.
As she exited and closed the door behind her she sighed heavily. "Well tha' was interestin'..." she said to herself calmly and then headed away towards the decks of the Pearl.
Mark looked at Hawk for a moment. He was searching for the right words, for he had far more to say. Suddenly he heard Luis raise his voice. He looked over and saw Eric strike him. A smile came across his face, he was glad Luis was put in his place. He'd seen him bothering Evy and Eric all day. He looked at Hawk again. He moved over to some ropes and tightened them. He was new to the ship and wasn't sure of his job yet. He figured everyone had a certain task they were to perform. He looked back at Hawk again.
"Why do you think Jack always eyes me when I talk to Rose. I don't feel real comfortable with the both of you doing that. Trust me mate, I won't hurt her. I just want to get to know her better that's all. Well I better get to work doing something, I don't want everyone to think of me as luggage."
Mark walked away and got to work cleaning the dishes from breakfast.
*As Eric hurried from his cabin he cursed himself beneath his breath for just leaving Evelyn standing there to consume his words to her alone. He shook his head and turned swiftly, hurrying back to the cabin. He flung the door open.* Evelyn, I- *He began but realized the room was empty. He frowned a little as his brown eyes slowly glanced about it and then he sighed, slowly shutting the door. He leaned against it for a moment when he heard the voices of Luis and Evelyn, though he couldnt make out what they were saying.
He glanced from side to side to see if anyone was watching him and slowly slipped down the hall, pressing his ear against the cabin door of Luis. He furrowed his brow and rolled his eyes at the remarks and lines the man was dropping. However he smirked and gave a little laugh when he said Eric may have given him a bruise.* Watch it or I'll give you a lot more than that. *He grunted and then heard Evelyn babling. His eyes narrowed a bit as he figured he knew what Luis had just done.
Suddenly he heard her footsteps coming towards the door and he glanced around quickly, desperatly trying to find something near him to make it look like he had been working, not eaves dropping. He couldn't find anything except for a very large barrel. He groaned a little but bolted towards it, quickly climbing inside the cramped space and practically holding his breath as he heard her footsteps trailing away towards the deck.
He peaked his head out and sighed in relief however when he went to stand up he was stuck.* Oh no...you've got to be kidding me. *He gasped trying to free himself. It was no use. He saw Will coming down the hall minuets later and he loudly whispered to him.* Will! Psst, Will! *He whispered, and Will looked around bewildered, checking in the nearest cabin.* Im not in the cabin you bloody idiot, Im in the barrel! *He hissed. Will saw him and raised a brow but went over to him.*
How'd you get yourself in there Eric? Oh no, you're not drunk already are you? *Will asked. Eric glared at him and shook his head.* No Im not drunk now get me out of here. *He commanded and Will went instantly to work trying to free him from the barrel. Finally he stopped and nodded a bit.* I know, don't go anywhere I'll be right back. *He stated and rushed off. Eric sank back down in the barrel and rolled his eyes. When Will came back he was holding a hatchet and Eric gasped.* Please tell me thats only for show and that you wont really be using that. *He said nervously.*
::experience told him if he got between a lad and his lass the actions following would normally lead to something bad......or well..interesting......but he had El Dorado to keep him busy now....::
*Will kissed his wifes cheek and left her side to go to his cabin and retreive his things to sharpen his sword when suddenly he heard someone call to him and he recognized the voice as Erics. He raised a brow and poked his head into the nearest cabin but it was empty. When Erics voice came to him again he turned suddenly and raised a brow at the sight of Erics head sticking out of the top of a barrel. He hurried over to him and glanced around.*
How'd you get yourself in there Eric? Oh no, you're not drunk already are you? *He asked but his friend denied it. Will merley shrugged and struggled to work the man free from the barrel but it was useless. He stopped, pondering what to do next then he gave a nod.* I know, don't go anywhere I'll be right back. *He stated and rushed off back towards the deck. He scooped up his hatchet and started to return when Elizabeth grabbed his arm.* Where are you off to in such a rush with the hatchet? *She asked curiously. Will glanced around and just tugged on her sleeve, hurrying back to Eric as she followed him.
He grinned as the man asked about the hatchet for show.* I can't pull you out of it mate, Ill have to cut away some of the barrel. Its your own fault for being a bloody idiot. *He stated and was about to hit it when he heard Jacks voice. Erics head dissapeared beneath the barrel walls again and WIll and Eilzabeth spun around quickly and smiled akwardly.* Well when I first met you, you found an island that couldnt be found, the second time you managed to find a lot of Greek Gods so I think we have a good shot. *Will stated. Elizabeth nodded in agreement and laughed. It did seem that impossible wasn't exactly a word in the Captains vocabulary.*
:Jack tilted his head and caught sight of the hatchet. He arched a eyebrow, looking amused::
"Well....what are ye planning to hack at there mate?" He glanced around, caught sight of Eric's hair. "Well...there's something ye don't see everyday in open waters......suppose in Tortuga it'd be normal....but..."
::Jack when over, picked a section of the barrel, took the hatchet from Will's hand and swung. The barrel cracked open easily, splintered and fell away, Jack handed the hatchet back to Will and looked at Eric::
"ever heard of the expression that goes something like this mate..." He asked "The only thing more deadly then a sword is a lady?" He smirked gestured at Will and Elizabeth. "My friend being the perfect example of that....."
:He turned to leave: "ye best behave yerself while we're at sea mate....ye can't hide on a ship..." :and the captain left, off to keep himself busy:::
