*Tobbs looked at the food and then back to Jack. She listened as he spoke. She actually smiled, yes, smiled when he said he admired her for her strong will. But it quickly faded when he began talking about the world.*
*She again was caught in his eyes as he spoke...she didn't know how he did it, but his eyes seemed to lock her into staring back in his eyes as he spoke. It seemed he was giving her a choice: talk, or make both their lives a living hell for a week.*
*She sighed, not knowing what to do. Of course she leaned towards making their lives a liing hell, as long as it worked out that he'd suffer, but then apart of her wanted to talk, to get it out, to tell her story and to have someone to talk to. She pondered what to do, then saw him gesture at the food.*
*She picked at the bread a bit and could't bring herself to eating. She didn't know why...she just couldn't. She sighed and put it down, looking back to Jack. A shade of sorrow passed over her eyes..she sighed again. Well, she was too tired to start another argument...so why do so?*
"Why...why Sparra, did ye help me? Why'd ya come and save me when I'd juss threatened ye...I can' understand it, I dunno why ya did it...no one's ever tried to do, no one's ever cared and tried ta 'elp withou' wantin' somethin' or only keepin' me alive fer a cause so they could get rid 'o me later..."
*She cursed herself inwardly for speaing about it. Why was she telling this to him? What could he do but use it against her?*
"As much as you say...there's some good in the world..I juss...I juss can' believe you. Whenever I believed there was...whenever I put my 'opes in it....they were ruined, and everythin' fell apart."
*She looked down and tried to hide the shadowing sadness that ran across her face and swirled in her eyes. She couldn't show her weakness, not now, not ever. Her past haunted her cruelly, and though she always thought if she told someone about it, it would stop, she never wanted to let it come out, never wanted to tell her tale...she just hid it from herself and used hate as her ally and her characteristic.*
"Ya wouldn' understand it Jack, ya just wouldn'..."

:Jack considered her question: "Didn't matter if ye threatened me. nobody deserves to drown out of spite.....savvy?"
:He watched her a bit more, listening.....thinking and listening: "Ye know. My world isn't exactly perfect lass. Took me ten years to get this ship back. I could have spent those ten years cursing and swearing. But I didn't I did something about it..."
"No. I can't say I know EXACTLY what keeps ye going. But I can guess. Ye know Tobbs, sometimes it's easier to let go then hold on to what's killin ye inside...." :Jack normally didn't start speaking with much intelligence until he was drunk, oddly enough. Maybe Tobbs just confused him enough into thinking he was drunk.:
"Either way, lass....you've got a brain in yer head. I know ye do. I just do't know why ye can't see what's in front of yer pretty eyes. Yer a smart lady. Ye got enough smarts to get you a long way. A Captain no less. So why are ye letting what's already happened judge what ye do right now?"
:Jack really wasn't sure if he was getting through to her at all. He hoped he was. it'd be a damn shame to see someone as wild as Tobbs die needlessly. Wild people were born to torment the tame into doing things out of the ordinary. wild people made life what it was.:
:he waited calmly: "Ye have a choice to make lass. Live yer life as it is, and make it into something worth yer while. Or curl up and let all the bad things in life swallow you alive. What are ye going to do?"
"Are ye really gonna let the past beat you? Seems like a shame really...."

Again a golden flash from his eyes and he peered into the sky. "It is my sister's turn to rule the heavens now. Artemis."
He looked at Linea curiously. "you are a strang mortal." He said that as if it was a compliment. It was intended to be in any case. he was practically radiating light now. glowing. to Linea alone he was glowing but it didn't matter.
"will you be up before sunrise?" He asked suddenly. "Right before Dawn?"

:Linea didn't know how to take his compliment, and smiled anyway.:
A strange mortal? How so?
:She chuckled a little bit.:
Sorry, just it was just something I've not heard before. Do not worry, I'll be up before dawn. Always am, have been doing so for many years.

Roux grinned brightly. "Well. you're diffrent I suppose."
she assured him she'd be up before dawn. He grinned again and looked at the deck around him before asking. "Will you come with me then? Follow me?"
He looked happy about the idea but he wasn't about to say what he had in mind. 'Will you trust me?"

:She eyed him a little suspiciously when he asked if she would trust him.:
Of course I trust you. You never had to ask. I shall go with you if you wish.
:Linea was curious as to what he had in mind, but she said nothing and kept her curiosity to herself.:

*Eric grinned proudly and laughed as Evelyn said he was right, commenting on how it was probably the first time he had heard that.* Are you kidding, Im always right. *He chuckled. His laugh grew heartier at her next comment and he shook his head, running a hand through his dark blonde hair.* You definantly keep things interesting. *He said with an agreeing nod as he glanced back over at her and studied her face for a moment. After the inncodent with Tobbs had come and gone and she was returned to the cabin he took his seat again and waited for her answer to his question, even if it was slightly retorical. When she said he should try it and see he laughed but jumped up and peeked over the edge. The ship was moving swiftly now, cutting easily through the choppy waves and he raised a brow and glanced back over his shoulder at Evelyn with a grin.* Hmm, that probably is a better idea...getting rid of you instead. *He said, still grinning. But even he knew he didn't mean those words. He didn't know why but he enjoyed her sarcastic and humerous company. Stepping away from the side he sat back down beside her and gazed at her out of the corner of his eye. Then he scooted away from her slightly. He had numerous walls up and he didn't want to bring them down. But then he felt as if one or two of them were already crumbling, no matter how guarded he had tried to keep his heart something was different this time. He sighed and turned his face all the way to her and paused for a long moment. A question was burning on his mind but he didn't know if he should ask it. Finally he took a deep breath and just said it.* Evelyn, what happened to you to make you so defensive? *He asked softly. Then he laughed nervously and waved a hand at her.* Never mind you don't have to answer that. That was out of line. *He added quickly, glancing out at sea[/color]*

He laughed and joy flooded through him. "You will see soon enough. I promise you."
Roux's eyes grew golden again and he peered into the sky, and said vaguly: "Unless you wish to go now. My sister is willing that I could go now if I chose too. "
He turned back to her, smiling. "Unless you'd rather stay here."

:Linea smiled hugely at Roux and she was happier than ever.:
Of course I wish to go with you! I'm always up for an adventure, and of course, I'm somewhat curious.
:She grinned up at him as she noticed his eyes had changed colour again. Linea loved it when his eyes changed, she didn't know why they did, but she thought it a wee bit rude to ask him. She still wanted to know what was happening, but she thought it best to let it be a surprise.:

Evelyn took in a deep breath as he spoke. She enjoyed his company, really. His hearty, velvety voice was calming, and his laugh was gentle. When he asked his last question, Evelyn turned her honey eyes to him, the bit of gold in them flickering slightly in the sun's dying rays. Evelyn sighed.
"No, no. It's alrigh'. I can answer that." Eve told him with a small smirk that began to fade. "Defensive...well it was a lot of thin's really. When I was younger, my mother died...some disease don' remember rightfully what. Then my father was murdered...long story really." Evelyn sighed heavily. "Then there was the Devil's Wrath. It was the ship I was on before here...I was basically a slave. Bein' the only girl on board I had to do a lot of things I regret, but I guess I didn' really 'ave a choice really." Evelyn said with a small chuckle.
Eve always tried to bat away sadness with laughter, it had worked for so long she had trusted this more than any other remedy to scare away her past. "Then there was Luis," Her voice fell as she touched upon this subject. This hurt the most. "Thought he loved me...ah bu' I was a fool. " Evelyn began looking away from him, not wanting him to see the hurt. "Ah, But he was a bastard I guess. Bloody Spaniards..." She said with a short laugh.
"But i's alright, really...what's done is done." She said in a final tone, but the feelings lingered on. It was difficult to elaborate what happened to her. Many things did, specific things, that made her this way. Things she was forced to do, to see, to know. The worst of all was a broken heart. Luis had taken a part of her when he left and never came back He had promised to come back for her, promised to free her, promised, promised, promised.
"Bu' what 'bout you?" Eve asked looking to the ground, not wanting to face him at the moment. Trying to change the subject.

Roux looked at Linea, guessing her question. "They change because they are my real form. when I am happy, or angry, or speaking to another god they change." His eyes were glowing now a sunlight gold.
after a quick glance Roux took Linea's hand and smiled. "Don't be afraid."
what could have been moment or years later Apollo had raced across the heavens, holding Linea to him, taking her with him. A journey over the skies, following, guiding and riding the sun. literally soaring over sunbeams.
He's changed again. He was Apollo. He was commanding the sun to follow him and Linea. Music seemed to slip past them in random notes. wisps of songs. He was racing but it felt as if he were merely skimming them both over glass. Warm and firey and bright. Laughter filled th sky when he rode the sunlight.
"Look down!" He suggested, still holding her tightly. They were over mountains, over lands of green and brown. rivers that looked like strands of thread. deserts of yellow and tan. mountains of purple. Colors. A veiw from high over the land.
And still he raced on, gliding as if this were nothing, leaving behind them a trail of golden sunlight. He smiled, laughing. "having fun?"#nosmileys#nosmileys

:She nodded in understanding as he explained to her about his eyes changing colour. She took his hand and smiled.:
I'm not afraid.
:She couldn't believe what was happening, and she felt his arms around her, holding her. Linea was amazed at the sight before her eyes and as he suggested, she looked down.:
It's so beautiful...:she whispered: More beautiful than anything I've ever seen.
:She held him tight and smiled.:
I am having so much fun Roux! I don't think I can truly express what I feel right now. Thank you.

Apollo laughed and soared on. Over seas. Gaining speed. Flying faster. His path turned to fire trails as he flew and he wrapped part of his robes over Linea. The heat could burn her.
The songs grew to a chorus as he turned sharply upwards, making a arc in the sky as he flew. They were far from the Caribbean now. He slowed just enough to keep the fire from building. He paused once and they stood there apparently attached to nothing whatsoever. clouds moved by. The wind howled, almost a welcoming.
Linea was glowing now too. a not as much as Apollo was but enough to make him blink in a slight surprise. He smiled a bit then looked at her. "you're smiling." He observed. " A lovely sight indeed."
and slowly he fell backwards, taking Linea with him. Dropping gently. descending lazily as wisps of clouds danced by. He smiled at her. "you're as beautiful as the dawn."

:Her fingers ran over the folds of his robes as he wrapped part of them around her. They were beautiful as was everything else. When he told her she was smiling, she smiled more.:
Yes, I believe I am. You've brought a smile to my lips and heart.
:As they difted down, she smiled more. Then, she wasn't sure if she had heard him correctly when he complimented her, for she'd not recieved one in so long.:
Thank you...
:She blushed as crimson filled her cheeks while she thanked him. It was the best she could do, because yet again, he'd made her speechless.:

*At that exact moment, all Tobbs really wanted to do was curl up and get away from everything. Jack's words showed her a whole new way to look at things. She knew he was right, but...*
"Ya don' know 'ow much I wish I could let everythin' out that I've bottled in, tell everythin' that's 'appened to me, trust someone, 'ave someone there fer me...but in order to get rid of the 'aunting of my past, I 'ave to let myself remember it, 'ave to relive it in a way....and I can' do that fer the life of me, not now at least...."
*She looked back to Jack and felt something she hadn't felt before....not for along time...it was like she was almost starting to trust the man, and she felt she could actually call him a friend for once...maybe that's why she hated him so much.*
*Confusing, aye, but Tobbs never wanted friends, never needed them, because if you have friends, you have to trust, and if you trust, you care for them, and when you lose them or they hurt you, you feel pain. She'd been through some of the worst things imaginable...and in order to start trusting, she had to realize it was okay to trust, which would mean revisiting her past...which brought pain and hurt and anguish. She wasn't ready for it, no, she wouldn't be for an ickle bit...*
*Putting her head in her hands, Tobbs muttered softly, wondering how the blazes he got her to spill some of her thoughts with him. He wasn't only kind and caring but smooth, which she both admired and hated.*
*So, she thought to herself, either tell the man everything or bring your defenses back. Well she wasn't about to tell him anymore as we've gone over, so the second option was the one she chose. She straightened up, clutched her shoulder, and stood wobbly.*
"Well Jack, we 'ave a week ta Tortuga. Per'aps I won' be so tedious about the 'ole thing, but don' expect me ta be yer servant."
*This would be the hard part...Tobbs hadn't muttered anything close to the phrase she was about to say in years...*
"I'll stay in 'ere as ya offered...yeah......well um...eh...*sigh*...thank you, Jack...."
*And with that, she smiled dimly and sat back down, her weariness and realization that she'd used all her strength hitting her like a wave.*
