Mark went out on deck. The storm was gone. It was like it had never happened. The sea was calm and the sky was clear, save one or two clouds that were stragglers from the army that had past through. He smiled at them. He took a seat up in the crows nest. No one would bother him there. He needed some time to himself to think. He thought about the landing in the Americas. Lots of things could go wrong. And with his shoot first ask later personality he figured he'd get into some trouble. But he turned his thoughts to a much warmer, much more pretty nature. His thoughts turned to Rose. He wanted to go and talk to her, but Hawk was with her the last he'd seen. Plus he figured she had had a very tough day. He wanted to outright tell her that he liked her. But for the first time in his life he feared rejection.[/b]
"Just tell her you bloody fool. You're acting like you are in the first grade or something. You might as well send her a note that says ' check yes or no.' Ah look at urself. You are talking to yourself. And to make that worse you are arguing with yourself."
He stopped talking and shook his head. He tended to do that from time to time. He looked out over the horizon. The sun was going down. The few clouds in the sky began to turn a golden orange. He fell alseep up there in the crows nest. He began to dream of adventures past. And of his home back in England when he was a boy. He was hunting rabbits with his brother. He of course got the most and the biggest ones. He was always better with a gun then his brother. Suddenly he found himself in his dads gun shop. His brother was helping him. He saw and ember rise from the forge. He followed it for a moment. The red glow moved gracefully through the air. It landed on a black powder. There was a loud noise. Mark suddenly flung awake.
"NOOOO! Gah! Just a dream."
He looked around to see if he had startled anyone. He wiped a tear from his eye and looked up to the sky.
"Dad, Nathan. If you're listening. I want to say I miss you, and I love you. I wish you were here right now. I bet Nathan would enjoy this. But don't worry about me guys, just keep your attention on mom right now. I hope you won't be mad at me for leaving her, but I think you understand why I do what I do."
He gazed back out over the sea. He sniffed and held back a slew of tears and fell back to sleep.
