"Hmm, I suppose that means I win then. Just a lucky hand, that's all!" :: Damien grinned at the two ladies at the table, then watched as Selina stood up and walked over to the railing. He looked over at Gypsy::
"Well then, do you want to follow her or shall I?"
::Gypsy merely shrugged, and stared longingly at the coins on the table::
"I guess that leaves me...." ::He sighed, then rose from the table. Leaving the prize money untouched, he walked over toward Selina and leaned against the railing next to her. After a long pause, he finally spoke::
"The moon is truly beautiful tonight, isn't it...?"
::Gypsy watched Damien and Selina with disgust. Love was overrated in her opinion, and she hated that she always seemed to be surrounded by it....::
"But never part of it."
::She sighed, then before anyone noticed, she snatched up the coins on the table and slipped them into her pocket::

When Eric asked her not to kill anyone else Eve shrugged. She had become numb to remorse over death really. She had been forced to kill so many people aboard the Devil's Wrath, that it almost dumbed her to the fact that she was taking someone's life. "Only if ye promise not to wander off with some bloody woman." Evelyn told him with a nudge as they headed away. When they neared the Brothel Evelyn looked up. It wouldn't really be busy until a bit later on so they shouldn't see too much.
Evelyn opened the heavy wooden doors and stepped inside. The air was incredibly musty and she stared around. There were many empty tables and chairs, but there were a few people here and there. Mostly they were hanging from the balcony. A woman or two called down to Eric, and they glared at Evelyn curiously. "Victoria!" Eve called aloud. She crossed her arms. One of the blonde women from the balcony...apparantly busy, stole herself away from the man she was with and called down to her. "She's busy!" Evelyn groaned. "Tell 'er if she doesn' get down 'ere I'll come up there an' I'll..." Just then there was a thud. Something fell, someone was cursing, and then Victoria appeared.
"EVE!" The woman called out to her, zipping the back of her dress up hurriedly. "Back so soon!" She said as she headed down the steps. Her black hair was in array and her make-up was smeared. "Nice ta see ye! I was wonderin' where ye'd gone off...to..." Victoria's voice dropped as she spied Eric. " An' 'o's this?" She asked slanting her head to the side and staring at him. Evelyn stepped in front of him. "He's none of yer concern." Evelyn told her with a sly smile. "Where's my money?" Evelyn asked her lifting a brow. "Uh...in the Inn. Across the street. Yer old room." She told her with a nod. Evelyn sighed. "Good to hear." Evelyn said as she began to turn.
"Uh, wait...I was goin' ta tell ye...I took some." Evelyn spun around. "Some?" she asked lifting a brow. "Well...a few things. A bracelet...and a ring...an', an' maybe a pound...or two." She said nervously. "What?! Victoria...I..." "I know! I'm sorry." Victoria said leaning over a bit. "Bu' I needed it...Eve this man...Tom...he says if I don' pay 'im...it'll be 'ell ta pay." She told her frantically. Evelyn sighed. "Fine. Don' do it again though, savvy?" Evelyn never liked anyone taking her money, but she had a certain soft spot for Victoria. Victoria had been her best friend during the time she was here in Tortuga.
Selina looked up at the moon and then back at Damien as he came over. She could sense his presence...it was almost electric. She lifted her brows. "Of course. Its full tonight. Strange things happen, they say, on the night of a full moon." Selina said with a sly smile, her dark eyes resting on him. The wind blew softly, making her hair fly back behind her. Her gloved hands rubbing together in the chilly night. "I always loved the night far better than the day. It's much more...mysterious...captivating..." Her eyes trailed back to him.
"The night can keep secrets that the day will never see." She told him in a smooth tone. Her eyes eyeing the waters below. "Don't you agree?" she asked him turning her face completely towards him.

*Eric laughed as she said she wouldn't kill anyone if he promised not to go off with some woman and he acted as if he were pondering this question a moment, stroking his chin with his hand as he gazed ahead.* I suppose I can do that. *He finally said, grinning at her. As they approached the brothel he glanced up at the balconys, watching the women as they called out to him. He thought it was going to be amusing but to be honest it was a rather uncomfortable feeling. He simply cleared his throat and looked away. His eyes wandered around pointlessly as he attempted to ignore the calls to him and then he glanced up again as "Victoria" appeared. He clasped his hands behind his back as the woman came down to greet Evelyn. He stared at her for a moment as she looked him over and he smiled then he smiled akwardly and glanced at Evelyn as she stepped in front of him. An amused grin came over his face. He tipped his head to her and stood there silently as the two women spoke. He frowned as the woman said she needed money for a certain Tom fellow.* If you need any money miss I have a bit you can have, no favors needed in return. *He said, clearly pronouncing the last bit of his sentence. Then suddenly he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder and he spun around. A tall, thin woman with frizzed blonde hair and far too much eye make-up threw her arms about his neck and smiled.* I'll give ya a few favors fer a bit o yer money. Not too often we ge' a handsom fella like ye round 'ere. *The woman said, her voice slurred and her eyes unfocused. Eric raised a brow and attempted to remove her from his neck but her grasp only got tighter.* Im sorry lass Im not interested. Really...really not interested. *He said, finally managing to get her off him. She began to run her fingers along the chest of his shirt and she smiled.* Don' pass up a good offer dearie. Fer ten coins ye can do wha' ye wan' with me. So wha' say you? *She asked. Eric smacked her hand away and looked over at Evelyn nervously then back to the woman.* I say no now for both our sakes I suggest you run and I suggest you run bloody fast. *He said, growing very annoyed.*

:: Damien raised an eyebrow and stole a glances over at Selina. She was staring at him...expectantly?::
"Indeed.... Then again, there are some secrets that are best kept hidden altogether. Some that can consume even the darkness of night." ::He sighed, then smiled sadly at her:: "Selina.... I don't want to hurt you...."

Evelyn sighed and suddenly heard a voice behind her. Victoria looked past Evy and glared at the woman. "Giselle! Ge' off 'im! Now." Victoria told her sternly. The woman looked past Eric at Victoria and then eyed Evelyn. "Why? I don' see ANY reason why the man would refuse me offer?" Giselle said looking back up at Eric, her hand still upon his chest.
Evelyn was furious and she took deep calming breaths. If she did what she really wanted to do, she'd jump at her and beat the woman's head agains the floor. She would have done it too, if it were not for her promise to Eric. Besides, Evelyn was getting tired of causing so much trouble. Eric didn't need this, and she didn't want him to be afraid she'd get hurt all the time, so she controlled her rage as best she could.
Evelyn grasped the woman's wrist tightly and yanked her away from Eric. "Ye bloody wench! Don' ye touch him, ye piece of filth!" Evelyn spat. Then her hand struck, she smacked the woman across the face so hard she made the woman fall upon the floor, knocking over a table in the process. "Don' ye dare touch him like tha' again!" Evelyn scolded her and spat on the woman. Her skin was red hot and she was ready to go after the woman, when she felt a hand grasp her arm. She looked back at Eric. Evelyn breathed in deeply.
Suddenly there was a shout from above. "Hey! You! You get out of here right now! Don' ye come in here stirring up trouble, attackin' my business!" He yelled fiercely. The man was large, and was putting his shirt over his head pointing a finger at Evelyn. Evelyn looked to Victoria who only whispered one word. "It's Tom." She said with a nod. Evelyn looked up at him. She glared at him. "Leave Victoria!" Evelyn told her encouragingly. Victoria shook her head. "I can'...Eve. I can'." She said backing away.
"You! When I get down there ye'll be dead!" He yelled at Evelyn as he began to storm down the steps. Evelyn wanted to stay, she wanted to kill the man with his bare hands. She knew what men like him did, she had had it happen to her before. "Ye fat bastard...come down here then!" She yelled, but she looked back at Eric. She sighed heavily and stopped her hand from going to her pistol. All the while the man made his way down the steps. "You don' touch my business, lass! I'll rip ye to shreds, I will." He said angrily.
Selina looked Damien over as he spoke to her. "Hurt me? What do you mean?" Selina asked him curiously. Suddenly she went for the hilt of her sword, but he didn't look vengeful. He seemed...sad. What did he mean? Either way Selina felt drawn to him even more. It was the oddest feeling. On one hand she feared him, yet she couldn't help wanting to...she shook her head. What did he mean?

*Eric watched Evelyn and Giselle as the lass drug the lady from the brothel away from him by the wrist. He raised a brow and grinned, intrigued by the fact that Evelyn was so protective of him all the sudden. Honestly, he hadn't expected these kinds of reactions from her on his behalf, he was slightly enjoying them. Suddenly Evelyn smacked the woman and sent her flying into a table knocking it over. He trotted towards her and grasped her arm, shaking his head at her with a stern look upon his face as she looked back at him. However his eyes were filled with amusement and he looked up quickly as a voice came from above them. As Tom appeared Eric glarred at him and his jaw clenched. So that was the filth making Evelyns friends life hell. Erics eyes went to Victoria as Evelyn talked to her and he gave her a sad look. His blood began to boil over with rage as tom insulted Evelyn from the balcony and then came down the steps. Erics eyes never left the man as he rushed towards the two of them grumbling. His breathing began to grow heavy and he glanced at Evelyn.* Evelyn, let me handle this one alright? *He said, a hint of pleading in his voice as he looked at her with gentle eyes. Then he stormed towards the fat man and shoved him as hard as he could into the wall of the brothel. He pulled his pistol from his belt and held it to the mans belly, all the while his dark eyes, flashing with anger, were fixed upon the old mans.* How does it feel to be the one who is helpless and afraid for once hmm? *Eric asked in a low, angry voice filled to the brim with hatred. He cocked the hammer on the pistol and a smug grin formed on his lips. The fat man swallowed hard and held up his trembling hands.* Its jus' buisness mate. *The man said nervously, glancing around. Eric shoved the pistol harder against the mans stomach then pulled the trigger. The man gasped and his eyes went wide.* So was that. *He said and stepped back as the man fell to the ground. Eric didn't like killing people like the shop keeper, but this time it was different and he could have cared less about what he had just done. He knelt down and pulled from the mans pocket a coin purse. He shook it then rose and tossed it to Victoria.* There you go lass. *He said, wiping his brow with his sleeve as he put the pistol back.*

:: At that moment, Damien felt the strangest urge to tell Selina everything - who he was, WHAT he was. He didn't understand this power she had over him, but he knew it could be dangerous. If she could make him want to divulge his deepest, darkest secret with a mere glance, what could she do if.... He suddenly felt very nervous again::
"I - It's nothing.... I just wanted to be sure you were alright. If, um, if you need anything...I'll be downstairs."
::With that, he turned around and walked - a bit too quickly, perhaps - toward the crew's cabins. He would not need to enter his own room until dawn, and it would be better to keep up appearances as long as he could::
::But why had he told Selina where he was going?:: //Get control of yourself.... She's not a threat to you....//

Evelyn nodded as Eric asked to handle this himself. She stared as Eric took him and the pressed the pistol to his belly. Evelyn's mouth dropped and she stepped forward a bit but held back. He wouldn't...she thought. Then the pistol went off and he did. Evelyn's brows furrowed as Eric came over and tossed the coins to Victoria. Victoria stared at him in awe, as did Evelyn. Everyone in the brothel stopped and seemed to hold their breath.
Then without another word Evelyn took Eric by the wrist and pulled him out of the brothel quickly. A "Thank you!" was shouted at them and they went towards the streets. Evelyn was at first angry...but at herself. It was her fault. Evelyn should never have caused that...she didn't want Eric to end up doing what she does. He was better than that. Her heart was racing as she pulled him along with her. Evelyn sighed deeply as she stopped in her tracks and brushed a few of her curls in place. "Eric...don' do that again. Alrigh'?" Evelyn asked him lifting a brow. She placed her hands on her hips. "An'...why? Why did ye do tha'? There was no reason for ye to kill him. He wasn' goin' ta hurt anyone...at least I don' think so." Evelyn told him rubbing the back of her neck a bit.
Her honey eyes stared into his a bit. She spread out her arms. "Why'd ye do tha'? I don' want tha' for ye. Ah...forget it." Evelyn told him as she went towards the Inn. She was angry at herself...she needed to honestly, calm herself. She wanted them to have a peaceful life. She was tired of all this violence. They entered the Inn and after a small talk with the inn keeper they headed up the steps to the room she was looking for. She said nothing to Eric. They entered the room with the turn of a key and she was silent as she rummaged through things.
Selina looked Damien over as he left and she stood there puzzled. For a moment she wanted to go after him, wanted to see if he would finally give in to her. How could he resist her so? By now she would have had the man melting in her arms, giving her anything, jewelry, money, antying and everything. He wasn't. He was a strange one indeed.
She held back. Instead she stood upon the deck and sighed. Then she went off in search of something to do. "So Bossa, where exactly are we headed to?" Selina asked leaning against a mast.

*Eric swallowed hard and glanced around slowly as everyone in the brothel stopped and stared at him. Then suddenly Evelyn took his hand and pulled him from the brothel. He didn't glance back as a thank you was shouted, he only lowered his eyes. No one should ever recieve a thank you after something like that, even if he had no regrets for what he did he still didn't want to be thanked for it. He glanced down at Evelyn slowly as she asked him not to do it again but he said nothing. His face was still stern and his eyes very distant. When she said he wasn't going to hurt anyone he glared at her.* Maybe not physically Evelyn but I'm sure you remember what it felt to be with a man like that and I wouldn't wish that upon anybody. Men like that were with my mother and I'll be damned if I come face to face with one of them and let them go. *He said, his voice loud and angry at first but slowly reducing to a low, sad tone. Then he frowned and looked back up at her. His face had softened and his eyes were once again gentle and he sighed.* He's not the first man I've killed Evelyn. *He stated, wondering if she had known that. He'd killed his fair share of men after he went hunting for the man who had killed Ashley. Unfortunatley he never did find that man. He could see the look in Evelyns eyes and for the first time in his life, he felt awful about killing filth.* Im sorry Evelyn I.... I won't do it again. *He said, removing the bullets from his pistol and tossing them away as if to prove his promise. He sighed as she turned and hurried off towards the inn. He followed her and sat down on the edge of the bed, his chin resting upon his fists as she rummaged through the various things. He said nothing, he didn't even look at her. He figured she had just lost a lot of respect for him and frankly he couldn't blame her. She didn't need to see him acting like that. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye for a long moment then spralwed out on the bed and rolled over on his belly, closing his eyes as he laid his head on the pillow. Simply resting while she finished her buisness.*

Evelyn find the loose board in the floor with a few stomps on the ground. Finding it Eve removed the plank and took out the box. She stared into it. There were a few things. A gold bracelet, a pearl comb, ten pounds, assorted rings, and a large necklace. She was about to take out the money when she hesitated. She really didn't need it. Evelyn shook her head and placed it back in the floor, closing it up.
Evelyn sighed deeply thinking Eric's words over. "Ye know this used to be my room when I lived here. Six months." Evelyn told him with a sigh looking around the dusty room. She turned and saw Eric sprawled upon the bed. She walked over towards him and sitting on the floor at the edge of the bed. Her eyes scanned him over. "I jus' I don' want this anymore." Evelyn told him with a sigh. "I need you, Eric. I need you ta...ta be there ta keep me sane. I don' want this life anymore. Having to yell all the time. Always gettin' in some sort of fight. I want some sort of peace!" Evelyn told him looking up to the skies. " When I saw you kill him like that...it hit me. I don't want this for us." Evelyn said placing a hand on his arm softly.
Evelyn rested her chin upon the bed staring at his face. "I want us to last and we won't if we're causing eachother pain half the time." Evelyn told him with a bit of a sad tone. "I'm done fightin'...at least...SO much." She told him with smile. "Please, don' let me see ye like tha' again. Out of control, full of anger. Yer not like that...yer better than that." She said placing her hand onto his cheek gently and then pulling it away.

*Eric had nearly accidently drifted off to sleep when suddenly she began to speak to him. He opened his eyes and turned his face slightly so that he could see her. When she said she need him he smiled ever so slightly. He glanced at her hand as she placed it upon his arm and he rolled over onto his side, stroking her cheek with the back of his hand for a moment before letting it rest upon her hand.* I really am sorry about that. Maybe those women have a chance now. *He said, as if trying to justify what he had done. But he knew there was no real excuse for it. Then he smiled and laughed softly as she rested her chin on the beds edge and said she was finished fighting, at least fighting as much. His eyes went over her face as she said he was better than the man she had just seen him be a moment ago. He didn't speak for a long time, trying to figure out if he believed her words. Finally he rose from the belt and knelt down before her and he hugged her again like he had in the shop earlier. Only this time he didn't pull away so quickly. He buried his face in her shoulder as his fingers played with her hair a bit. He liked this feeling of security he suddenly felt.* You really want to be with me then? *He asked, slowly pulling away though he was still running his fingers through her hair. Then he suddenly smiled warmly and his eyes sparkled.* This is going to be a very disfunctional relationship. *He said with a tender laugh.*

Evelyn embraced him, sensing him bury his face in her and she smiled tenderly. When he pulled away she nodded. "O' course I do. This isn' just...just something I'm jumping into." Evelyn placed her hands on his neck and she stared straight into his eyes. "Eric mate, I really, really, care about ye." Evelyn told him with a smile. "I don' want us to fall apart over my stupid anger. An' I know yer a better man, we can both be better people, I know it. I can feel it."
Evelyn embraced him and placed her chin on his neck, nuzzling him a bit. When he spoke again Evelyn chuckled lightly. "Dysfunctional doesn' begin ta describe it." Evelyn said with a small laugh. She held him around the neck securely all the same. She took a deep breath, loving the way she felt with him. This was it. No more complete rage, anger, stupid, rash, actions. She could sense his heartbeat and she felt closer to him than ever before. Evelyn never wanted to leave this spot, right now. "Eric...please tell me this is real. Tell me we're right." She told him. She needed him to tell her this. That she wasn't the only one appreciating this moment more than any other in her whole life. Her breathing was calm and rythmic, she was safe, and she knew it.

*Eric smiled and lowered his head a bit as she said she really cared about him. He laughed softly to himself. He certainly hadn't expected them to ever be in this situation together after their first day together. He figured fate had to of been involved somehow or else they would have both killed each other that day. As she wrapped her arms about his neck and placed her chin upon his neck he smiled and felt his heart flutter a bit. He knew these feelings, he had felt them before and yet for so long hence they had been foreign to him. Eric never wanted to hurt her again, nor did he want to risk others hurting her because of him. If she could be a more rational person he could do, he would do it if it killed him. At least if it meant being Evelyn. As she asked him to tell her it was real and that they were right he lifted her chin with his hand and he rested his forehead against hers, brushing her nose with his and he smiled.* Let's put it this way, if all this is, is a dream. Then I promise I will never wake up. *He said, then he pulled away and he grinned.* But we're not right. We're as wrong as two people could possibly get...and thats what is going to make this right. *He said with a bit of a laugh and he rose slowly, grabbing her hands in his and helping her to her feet. Then he laughed again thinking about the two of them.*

Evelyn smiled as Eric pressed his forehead against hers. She sensed they were so close now. When he told her if this was a dream he wouldn't wake up Evelyn kissed his cheek and rested her head on his shoulder briefly. Then as he said they were as wrong as two people could be she gave a small laugh. Evelyn sighed deeply as she gave him her hands and she stood.
When Evelyn stood she stood tall right against him, Evelyn stared into his eyes for a moment and then wanted to reach out to him, but held back. They were alone, in an inn, but no. She wouldn't allow her eagerness to ruin it. Evelyn held back and stepped back a little to resist temptation. "Ahem, well, I think we're done here." Evelyn said with a sigh staring about the room. Her honey eyes glancing over everything. "God, I can' believe this used ta be my home...for six months! An I didn' do a damn thing to spruce it up." Evelyn said with a small laugh.
She peered out the window and looked down upon the busy streets that were starting to get even more crowded. The sun was starting to set and they would be heading to the Pub soon enough.
Evelyn gave a small laugh. "God, we've only been here one day an' already we've caused some havoc." Evelyn said looking over her shoulder at him with a laugh. She was beginning to ease back into her tougher nature, although from now on it would be a lot calmer, at least. "C'mon mate, we'll do a bi' of wanderin' around before the little competition, savvy?" Evelyn told him lifting a brow and giving him a warm tap on the back.

*Eric looked down into her eyes as she stood tall against him and he smiled gently. Their being together at this moment felt so wrong and yet so right at the same time. It was certainly a confusing situation and would only get more confusing as the journey ended and Jack took Will back to Tortuga. Eric used to have it all planned out. He had come back from England to pick up helping Will again the blacksmith shop and figured he'd live the remainder of his days out in Port Royal. Now he was highly confused. Where was he going to go? He shook the thought away quickly and figured he'd decide when the moment came. Eric raised a brow as she stepped away from him and said they were done here. He laughed softly as he figured out why she had stepped away suddenly.* I guess we are. *He said and then his eyes trailed around the small room as she said it had once been her home. Eric gave a single nod and ran his finger over the nightstand, leaving a streak through the dust upon it's surface. He grinned wiping his hand on his pants.* Ah it's not so bad. *He said and laughed quickly as she spoke about how they had already caused so much havoc.* Well it's nothing this place hasn't seen before. *He said with a shrug. She tapped him on the back and he pondered if they should go back out into the streets just yet, considering their earlier visits. Every single place they had been thus far they killed someone at it. He shook his head slowly but turned and nodded, following her out the door.* Now tell me, where to my Lady? *He asked, giving her a bow and a grin, his voice sounding highly pompus.*
