When Eric spoke of Ashley and how he still loved her Evelyn sighed. Of course he did...her eyes went to his necklace once more. As he pulled her towards him and embraced her she didn't smile. She only thought about what he had said. He still loved Ashley, in a different way, but what did that matter? He loved her all the same. She placed her arms around his waist and rested there for a moment or two as he spoke.
He reassured her she hadn't done anything wrong and this helped her conscience, but the thought still lingered on. When he parted from her and bent over she had to smirk at least, placing her arms around his neck for leverage once again and kissed him. Her knees buckled a bit, but she held on. She parted from him briefly in the midst of the kiss and whispered "Please don' do this unless ye can promise me, that...Ashley won' be part of it. I want to know ye..." For a moment she was going to say love, but that's too soon. "...yer with me, here, now. An' not with her memory." Evelyn told him and pressed her lips to his once more.
It was amazing...his kiss was sweet, gentle, everything she had thought it would have been and comforting. For a moment she had forgotten everything. But Ashley's named popped into her mind again and she pulled away. She stared at him for a moment, loosened her grip around his neck, and pulled back. "Until yer ready to tell me yer not still with her, then...I can' do much for ye." She stated, backing away and lowering his arms from her.
Evelyn took a deep sigh and walked away, heading up to the deck. She went towards the railing to think and saw off in the distance...Tortuga.

Orestes leaned against the wall of the cabin door, listening to the drama playing out above deck. Callisto had shown her spirit...and the romantic tension between Evelyn and Eric had finally boiled over. This could be good or bad...love could soften Evy's anger towards Orestes, or they could team up against him. He wasn't unduly worried, though; he could handle them, if necessary.
He cast a glance to Rose, who was still unconscious. Orestes frowned; that was odd. Fishy had woken up and gone back on deck, and he had been injured worse than she...yet she was still out...he frowned. He would call Roux down soon if she didn't wake; his brother was, after all, god of medicine (among other things)...
Hawk maneuvered the wheel of the Black Pearl skillfully, as if he'd been sailing it all his life - but reverently at the same time. He knew very well he was navigating a legend...it was no problem finding Tortuga, the place of his birth. It was something in his blood, he supposed; he'd always been able to find Tortuga without a problem.
Hawk listened to the arguments and dramas on deck, feeling a bit overwhelmed. How does one keep up with events on this ship, he wondered, staring off into the sea...

*As Evelyn pulled away from his kiss for a moment he grinned, suddenly realizing how akward their height difference was. But that didn't matter, he'd find her a box if he needed to! And then suddenly her words took him by surprise. For a moment he didn't even know what to say he just stood there with his mouth open and as she leaned in to kiss him again he let her, savoring every bit of it. He hadn't felt this way for a long time and to be honest he never thought he would have again. As she pulled away again he said nothing, he only watched her walk off across the deck. His hand went to his rings but his eyes were still on Evelyn and he sighed. Was he ready to let Ashley go now for this woman? Could he bring himself to release his heart from the love it felt for his lost love? Slowly a smile formed across his face as happier thoughts of Ashley raced through his mind. She had his past, and she always would there was nothing he could change about that. But whether he wanted it or not he knew she couldn't have his future but he found himself thinking that, that wouldn't be so bad. Not if Evelyn had his future. Finally he pulled his eyes from her with a bit of reluctance and he slipped the necklace from about his neck, letting it pile up in his open palm. He stared at the rings for a long time, his mind deep in thought. Then his fist closed about the necklace and he brought it to his lips and slowly closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.* I need to let you go Ashley. If I ever want to love again I need to let you go. *He said softly to himself then with one last glance at his fist he suddenly threw the necklace overboard, rings and all. He leaned on the railing, watching as the silver chain spiraled like a glittering star into the dark waters below. Even once it was out of sight he continued to watch the waters and then slowly his eyes went to the horizon where the dark shape of Tortuga suddenly appeared. He had wondered for many years what this moment would feel like, the moment he let go of his hold on Ashley. He had always thought it was going to be the moment his heart shattered again but oddly enough he felt enlightened. Almost overjoyed with the new sense of freedom he felt. He smiled warmly and his eyes danced like the waves on the shore and he gave a slight nod. Almost as if to confirm what he had just done.*
*Will watched as Jack came rushing towards him and it was aparent the man had been slapped, not once but twice according to the red marks upon his face. Whoever slapped him got him nails and all and Will raised a brow and shook his head. It seemed as if the captains face was a magnet for that type of thing. Will had only been slapped once or twice since he had gotten married but both times it had come from Elizabeth and with her being his wife it was understandable. He opened his mouth to speak when Jack shoved past him, nearly knocking Will overboard. He grasped the railing quickly and took a deep breath as he regained his balance and hurried from the edge.* Bloody idiot you almost knocked me overboard! *Will said stalking after him. He reached out to thwap the man on the side of the head but decided against it, figuring Jack had had enough bashings for one day. And once he got to Tortuga odds were he would only recieve more.* Tortuga is going to be damn interesting I think. *He laughed, patting Jack on the back and glancing over at Hawk as the young man came over to the wheel as well.*

Hawk watched Jack come back on board and stepped away from the wheel, allowing Jack to take it again. He hid a grin behind polite concern as he watched the man's face, and looked a bit embarrassed as Will looked at him. "Does that...'appen to 'im a lot?" he asked in an undertone, wondering if the young man would think it out of place for him to ask. He allowed his nervousness to show a little on his face, but not much; Hawk was a composed lad...

Evelyn stared out and then took note as Eric came up on deck as well. Her eyes scanned him briefly and he seemed to be deep in thought. She kept her mouth shut. She wanted to say something, to see what he had decided, fearing he would turn her down and reaffirm that he was indeed still in love with her.
Instead he took the necklace from around his neck and her brows furrowed and she stood. Her hands leaning agains the railing as she stared at him out of the corner of her eye. He had taken the necklace and dropped it into the ocean. Evelyn's eyes widened and she remained silent. However, a smile began to grow. It was small but sincere and she leaned upon the railing once more. Her eyes staring in the distance at Tortuga.
Evelyn would give him a few moments. That was hard for him to do, she knew this. Letting go of a love like that must be so difficult, she knew, she had had to do it as well long ago. Her thoughts turned to Luis for a moment, the man that had left her, promised, and never returned. Why had he not come back for her, she thought. Perhaps he had only used her, or he had been killed. She shrugged and cared not. Her honeyed eyes turned to Eric as he too remained silent and she would give him his time. If he wanted, he would speak to her of it, when and if he was ever ready.
Still Evelyn couldn't help but feel bad. Evelyn truly believed he had lost his true love. The one that he was supposed to be with. She must have been such a warm woman, and a lady at that. Evelyn on the other hand was rough on all sides. She stared at her hands for a moment and gave a small chuckle. Her hands for instance...they were rough, not smooth like Ashley's might have been. Her nails were chewed down, short and unflattering. Blisters were visible and they were a bit dirty as well. What could she offer Eric?
Evelyn shook her head...she could not even offer him herself...well she could, but even that had been scarred. There was nothing precious left in her. Nothing pure, smooth, or beautiful anymore. She sighed deeply and lowered her head, but forgot those thoughts almost in an instant. She was not worthy of him, really, but she could not help but be near him.

*Will glanced between Hawk and Jack for a moment as the young man asked if that happened often to the Captain. Will grinned and then couldn't help but laugh as he thought back to the day that he and Jack had been shown the rather mad crew that Gibbs had rounded up.* Yeah it does. Now watch when we hit Tortuga. *He said and his grin grew.* You know I'd almost be willing to bet my life on it that he'll get it again while he's there, at least once. *He said to Hawk in a whisper, his eyes on the Captain. He cared about his old friend, the man truely was a good guy. If he hadn't been Will wouldn't have risked his own hanging for him. But whether Jack believed it or not, Will figured he probably deserve a lot of what he got.*
*He took another deep breath as the salty wind whirled about him and he stood straight up, shoving his hands in his pockets as his eyes continued to watch Tortuga growing ever closer. Then his eyes began to wander around until they landed on Evelyn. He smiled warmly as he watched her leaning upon the railing and he laughed slightly as he noticed her glance at him now and again. It was true she was nothing like Ashley. Ashley was fragile and quite the little lady. Every strand of her dark hair always in perfect place with her flowing dress and corsettes. Her voice was soft and her words were always proper. And then there was Evelyn. She had quite the tongue, her hair was often going everywhere and she had a rather rough exterior. But that was what he found so intriguing about her. He loved how different she was compared to every other woman he had ever met in his life. And to him, she was beautiful and he wanted nothing in the world but her. He laughed again and shook his head, looking back out to sea.* Women. *He said simply with a grunt. They certainly had their way of getting a hold on a man. He hadn't come aboard this ship with the intensions of finding someone, not by far. But he had. Finally he pulled his hands from his pocket and walked over to Evelyn, leaning beside her on the railing. His eyes went down to the railing and then to her.* Evelyn...she's gone. *He said softly.*

Evelyn looked over as Eric joined her and she smirked. When he spoke she turned to him. The smirk had disappeared. "I saw." Evelyn told him as she took hold of one of his hands. She gripped it strongly. "I hope ye won' regret it, tha's all." Eve told him softly looking out at the seas. "I hope ye didn' do that for me. I mean ye could have kept them, it would have been alright with me, really..." Evelyn said quickly. "I know she'll always be there, Eric. A par' of ye. Ye can' forget yer past no matter how hard ye try..." Evelyn said just as quickly but slowed her pace as she said this. "I know...I've tried an' it doesn' help." Evelyn sighed.
Eve had tried to forget her nightmarish past for so long, and it never did go away, and she believed it never would. The pain had always been there, but she had had it for so long she had become numb to it. Only when she was reminded of it did it really catch her off gaurd.
Then a smile cracked on her face. "Bu' forget it." Evelyn gave a small laugh. "We're bloody daft ye know? Last time we were up here we were tearin' eachother's heads off! Now..." she shook her head and blushed slightly, although the tan in her skin barely let it show. "what have we got ourselves into?" She said lifting a brow.

*Eric smiled and shook his head at her words as she grabbed his hand.* I wont regret it, that would be impossible. *He said then listened as she spoke about understanding that there is no way to really forget the past or to block it out. He nodded, glad that she didn't expect him to forget her. He frowned for a moment though, sad that she had to remember her own awful past but then he smiled again and wrapped his free arm about her shoulders. He laughed heartily as she called them daft. He shrugged at her last comment and his attention drifted back out to Tortuga.* I dont think anyone ever knows what they're getting into. *He said, a hint of laughter still lingering in his voice. And then he grinned though his eyes remained focused ahead.* You know that even though I care about you know that isn't going to stop me from teasing you is it? *He said looking down at her with a wink.* Well...we're almost to Tortuga. Nervous?
ooc: While Maria is gone I'll be npcing her so woot *Maria rose from her seat, yawned and stretched then headed up on deck. As she looked out towards the horizon she smiled, seeing Tortugas shape looming ahead.* There's nothing like Tortuga. *She said to herself, taking a seat upon a barrel as she fingered a bracelt about her wrist. She couldn't remember where she had gotten, all she knew was that it meant the world to her.

"Still goin' ta teas me are ye?" Evelyn asked him with a bit of surprise in her tone. She nudged him. "I would think we'd gotten past that." She said with a smile. When he asked if she was nervous Evelyn laughed. "Ha! Nervous? Me nervous? Not a bit. I know I can take 'er. You jus' make sure ye keep me standin' alright?" Evelyn told him and then pointed a finger at him. "An' don' ye dare try an' go noble on me, savvy? No takin' away drinks jus' because ye think I'm done. I'm there ta go all the way, an' if I have ta die drinkin' then tha's what's goin' to happen." She told him matter of factly and nodding.
" 's long as I don' wake up bloody or anythin', ye'll be fine an' I won't have a reason ta kill ye...although I wonder if that's a good thing." Evelyn said and pretended as if she were pondering this matter seriously. Evelyn sighed. "Wonder what else we might get ourselves into while we're there...ye know Tortuga hasn' ever really been my favorite place ta stay. Too many drunken men, bloody wenches, and bloody pick pockets! I swear some boy in Tortuga must be livin' pretty bloody well due to takin' my pocket money." Evelyn growled a bit.
Her anger boiled briefly, but as her honeyed eyes turned to Eric she calmed herself again. She took her hand from his and began to bite her nails again. "Damn nails...grow faster!" Eve scowled at them. She had barely a thing to nibble at now.

*Eric laughed and nodded as she asked about him still teasing her. It was just apart of them now, they couldn't just drop their ways. Then he grinned and listened to her with a raised brow. He folded his arms and leaned against the railing and laughed again.* I wont go getting all noble on you, trust me I want to see how much you can get down. *He grunted.* I'll do my best to keep you from waking up bloody mate but after all it is you we're talking about here. *He said in a highly serious tone yet there was a smirk on his face and his eyes went out towards Tortuga. He himself had never visited the place but after hearing about it from both Will and now Evelyn he truely began to ponder why anyone liked it at all. He figured he'd find out soon enough.* Evelyn bloody hell are you biting your nails again? *He asked, reaching out and grabbing her hand. He looked at it for a moment then he laughed and shook his head, releasing it.* You're lying. You're obviously nervous. Even a blind man could tell that much. *He smirked.*

Evelyn pulled her hand away as he laughed at her. She stared at her nails and tried to gnaw at them a bit more. Her eyes looked up at him as he said even a blind man could tell she was nervous and she lifted a brow. "I am NOT nervous, it's jus' a bloody habit o' mine...as you can see." Evelyn stated staring at her nails. She folded her arms across her chest and looked cross. "Ah, a habit I won't be able to keep up for now at least, not until they grow back again." Evelyn sighed looking up at him.
Then she furrowed her brows. "Ye know the only real problem with you mate? Well the one that can' be fixed anyway..." She told him with a smirk. "Yer too bloody tall! I had ta stand on the bloody tips of my toes to reach ye!" Evelyn said with a huff as she leaned agains the railing in front of him and sat on the edge. "That's goin' to be a bit of a problem." She told him with a nod.
She smiled a bit, pulling a few strands of her curls behind her ear. They would reach Tortuga soon enough. Evelyn glanced around and saw Emma and Rick. She glared at Emma for a moment and when she caught Emma's eye, Emma gave her a wink.

*Eric simply shook his head as she stated it was something she did out of habit, not because she was nervous.* Then its a nervous habit. *He coughed, glancing around as if to pretend he hadn't just said something. Then she stated that he had a problem that couldn't be fixed. What exactly was that supposed to mean? That he had other problems that she'd fix later? He grunted and gave her an odd look.* And what might that be? *He asked. As she said he was too tall he laughed and nodded, agreeing that it would be a bit of a problem. But he figured it wasn't going to be their biggest one. They were both quick with their tongues and their tempers, if anything got to them it would be that.* I don't think it's that I'm too tall. *He said, and grabbed her, lifting her up and placing her back on the deck so that she stood before him. He stood before her as close as he could and glanced down at her with a grin as he wrapped his arms about her.* The real problem is that you're too bloody short. I can't keep bending over all the time, eventually thats going to cause some serious problems. *He chuckled then glanced around.* I better go get some things ready to take with me into Tortuga. Wont be much longer now. *He stated.*

Emma sighed as they left and turned to see as Jack disappeared into a cabin with Callisto. “Now wha’ are they up to?” Emma asked lifting a brow. She shrugged and took a deep sigh. “I swear this ‘ole bloody crew’s gone daft! I can’ even keep track o’ wha’s goin’ on any more.” Emma said as she stared around the deck, seeking something to take up her time. She hated when there was nothing to do. It seemed she always needed to be doing something.
Rick laughed a bit. “Well if the ‘ole bloody crew’s gone daft then we’re no bloody exception.” Rick told her as he stared out at the seas. He placed a hand softly on her shoulder and Emma sighed. “Don’ worry, we’ll be a’ Tortuga soon ‘nough, Em. Then ye can go an’ ‘ave all the rum ya want.” He told her with a nod.
“Damned righ’ I will! Besides tha’ Eve is goin’ down. I swear tha’ woman gets more bloody sure of herself ev’ryday.” Emma smiled and shook her head. “Bu’ I’ll show ‘er. She’ll be down before I even blink.” Emma told Rick with a wink. Emma had total confidence that she would beat Evelyn. No doubt about it what so ever. Emma spat and looked around, then there, she spotted it. “Ah! The cannons!” Emma said briskly. “They ‘aven’ been tied down!”
Rick laughed. “ They ‘aven’?” he asked her wondering how she could have seen that small detail. “Well ye be’er get to it then.” He told her with a smile.
Emm looked him over. “Me? Yer goin’ ta ‘elp! If ya don’, I’ll tell the Cap’n!” Emma told him with a nod. She strode over to the cannons and began to tie them down one by one, making double knots.
Rick lifted a brow. “Ya wouldn’.” He told her shaking his head. Or would she? Then again Emma was a rash woman and she probably wouldn’t mind losing him again he thought, but he laughed. “Alrigh’!” he called after her as she headed away. He turned his eyes to the horizon and saw Tortuga. He smiled and couldn’t wait to see the competition himself. He always knew Emma could hold her rum better than anyone he’d seen, but in a competition? That would be a first.
Evelyn looked up at him as he wrapped his arms around her. "Really? I'm too short now is it? I'm up to yer damned chin...that's not too bad...might give ye a neck problem at some point but you can handle it, oh wait...ye can'...I forgot...yer a softie." Evelyn told him patting his cheek softly. "An' besides, ye can' resist me, so I doubt ye'll mind yer discomfort." Evelyn told him with a smirk placing her arms around him loosely.
When he said he'd need to get a few things ready Evelyn nodded. "Yer right, I should probably get a few things myself." She said. She let him go and began to head away towards her cabin.

(Sorry about my swift departure last night, maties, but my comp was unfortunatly shut off last night. do to some freakish power grid failure, or overload, my computer was shut off. And it needed to be rest in the morning. It was really odd to be honest. I'm back. sorry for the delay in reply. We've reached Tortuga! WOOT!!!!)
:Jack sort of let out a snarl at Tobbs, giving her no more then a growl and then most puposefully turned his eyes from her, irritated beyond words at the moment:
:He in all honesty could not figure it out........he was a reasonable man for the most part......he felt. And he had been helpful..or at least he'd figured he'd been helpful.....not like he'd tried to make any moves on Callisto. He grumbled under his breath, catching just a bit of what Will and Hawk were talking about.....:
"someone make sure that lass doesn't leave her room...." He growled out, refering to Callisto..... and looked at the horizon. Tortuga. at long last, was coming into veiw. Finally....maybe he could escape being contained on this ship with so many high energy brassed off, easily prone to slapping him, women.........:
"All hands on deck. land sighted!" His face broke into a small smile. Land. taverns. if he had any luck he could get into one hell of a bar fight and get out the frustration and anger welling up inside. rum and a few good punches thrown. Yes....that'd fix anything........:
:Thee sight of Tortuga renewed him. He was smiling again. Fully himself: "Remember maties...." He began carefully: "I expect all of ye to go get into whatever it is that ye wish to mix into, be it pleasure or drink...but be back on this ship by nightfall each night or you'll be without berth, .........savvy?"
:That said he looked over at Will and gave a wide grin: "Well Mr. Turner. What say you and I find something to do?"#nosmileys

Silently, Roux crept below decks. Poor Jack. The man really must have a record that exceeded Zeus himself to have so many women willing to slap him.
He found Orestes below decks as well, and he stopped near him, a carefully guarded look on his face. His brother would either tease him until they made land, or contain himself.
so he turned his attention towards Rose. "she still sleeps." He mused. "And she less wounded then the young man."
He seemed a bit puzzled by this. And he looked to his brother. "What do you think?" His brother, wild and high spirited as he was, he was intelligent. He turned a pair of gold eyes towards Hermes, curiously: "What of Callisto? She knows who we are."
