Rhys watched the woman unblinkingly. She was saying things mentioning names, attempting to make a connection, but none of it made sense. It had to be a trick! They were just trying to trick her! She would not fall for her. He hands wrapped around the dagger even tighter, she would not let them near her.
Iniko's green eyes watched with shock as the woman woke up and pulled a dagger. It seemed that Elizabeth was right, she really had no idea what had happened. He nodded slightly to let Elizabeth know that he had heard her.
He had to do this carefully to keep from getting hurt and to keep her from injuring herself. "Rhys," he tried dropping his fake dialect, "put the dagger down, we aren't going to hurt you." She seemed to take his words into acount as blue eyes flashed towards him. He took a small step forward, so small she could barely see it. "Just put the knife down," he soothed.
Rhys blinked and tried to clear her vision. She was dizzy and the room seemed as if it was spinning. She tightened her hand on the dagger hoping that it would focus her attention and make the room stop moving. Her eyes were staring into the large man. He seemed kind, rough but kind and she wanted to believe him, but too many men had done something similiar to get her guard down.
"Damn it! Make the room stop spinning!" she hollered. Yet her eyes were still glued to the man.
Green eyes connected with blue and he tried to convey his kindness through them. It seemed to only get her to harden more. She was a hard shell to crack, just like her brother. Suddenly before she could do a thing, he leapt forward and grabbed the dagger. She was weak and dizzy, the dagger came out of her grip easier than he thought possible.
He stood up and backed towards Elizabeth, handing her the dagger. "Keep this from her, until she understands," he muttered his eyes still locked with blue ones. She was staring at him with glazed and angry eyes. An odd combination.

Elizabeth watched nervously as Iniko spoke...she suddenly realized his voice altered to sounding rather un-slave like. She would've grown suspicious if it hadn't been for Rhys shouting up a storm with a very sharp dagger being flung about. Keeping her stance where she was, she watched the two....
Jumping at the sudden leap Iniko made, Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. She sighed in relief and took the dagger. She glanced at Rhys's angry expressin and sighed a bit more sadly.
"Well now...what should we do here? Rhys...you've got to understand. I won't hurt you..I still need to look at that arm, and if you dont let me see it and it's broken, it could heal wrong and you'd never be able to use it again! So what'll it be? Let me at least glance look at your arm, or never use it again?"
She didn't know if thise kind of scare tactic would work. Rhys might know how to check her own arm, or wouldnt care. She looked over at Iniko for some guidance. As much as the man was a mystery and seemed suspicious, the more she seemed to be relying on him for answers.

Rhys watched the pair warily. She was now weaponless and did not like it. Yet the woman's words made her realize just how much her body hurt. Her arm shot pain through her body at the slightest movement, but she gritted her teeth and growled at Elizabeth and Iniko. "I've delt with your kind enough to learn how to set my own arm," her eyes were dark and they refused to leave the two pirates in front of her. Yet her words and actions gave more information about her past than she had previously let on in the last year aboard the ship.
She had kept to herself to keep something like this from happening, or to keep from breaking her heart again. Not that she could remember.
Iniko saw Elizabeth's look in his direction and he shrugged. "If she thinks she can set it, then let her," he whispered. "You'll only get hurt if you try to approach her." He kept his voice low so as not to frighten Rhys, but her eyes were trained on him anyway. She was suspicious of the quiet talk. Very suspicious.
As neither of the pirates moved, blue eyes dropped to a swelling arm and she took a hand to feel along it. Her head was still spinning, and her hands bleeding freely, there was nearly no skin left on either hand from the fall. She left a bloody trail on her arm as she felt for the break.
She moved her hand and braced herself for the rush of pain to set her break, but she could not have prepared herself. It rolled through her body like a never ending wave, rushing pain through her entire body. A sharp stabbing pain coming from her arm and her bloody hand. She only managed to stay awake for a moment of it, before her eyes rolled up in her head and she collapsed on the bed unconcious again.
Green eyes flickered with concern. This was his cabin mate's sister. He was supposed to take care of her, perhaps not by Selina's instructions, but by his duty to his mate. He swiftly moved towards her and dunked a cloth in cool water before setting it over her lips and cheeks. Her forehead was covered and he decided this was the next best place. He smoothed some of the dirty blood streaked hair out of her face, and looked towards Elizabeth, "Why is she like this? What was she talking about?" He had a faint idea, but he was hoping that it was wrong. Yet Avery's words from the night he had gotten drunk months ago rang through his head and he knew that his deepest concerns were correct.

Elizabeth watched as Rhys braced herself for her own arm resetting. She winced when the woman did it and shook her head as she fell back into another state of unconsciousness. She sighed and put the dagger on the dresser where she collected a few more cloths to soak in the water basin. Once she’d finished that, she handed another to Iniko before sitting down and examining her arm. At Iniko’s questions, she shook her head and furrowed her brows. “To be honest, Iniko, I’ve no clue why. She’s always held to herself. Perhaps she’s reliving the past...many of the pirates aboard have had some kind of trouble with their past. Rhys is most likely no different.”
She was a bit weary from all the running about and the wound she’d obtained earlier re-opening, so she was rather short in speaking. She continued wrapping her arm as she watched him from the corner of ehr eye, and when she was finished, she began wrapping the woman’s hands as well.
“So I take it you’ll be watching her as well then? You seem pretty attached to her side, which isn’t at all a bad thing. To be honest, I thought you two knew each other somehow...”

"She reminds me of an old friend," Iniko explained to Elizabeth at her comment. "I've never been off the island before, let alone out of the town. And unless she had come here there would be no way I could know her." His eyes rested on the woman laying in front of him. She was slowly getting bandaged up and he almost wished he could have done something more to help her.
"Is there anything else I can do to help her? I can't bear to think of her in pain. It reminds me too much of my friend," Iniko explained while hoping for an answer.
Yet his brain was working on two levels; one level put his mask up and ran the ruse. The second level was plotting how to continue his ploy and to make it work. As it turned out his plan was developing nicely, and would probably become easier as time went on. He just needed to get himself situated within the crew and he had to be careful. If Avery were to find out he did anything to the man's little sister he would die a thousand deaths.
With the thought for his own safety, he almost laughed out loud. He knew the perfect way to force his plan to work. It had been laying right in front of him for a long time now. It was brash, sharp and dangerous, but it would work. He smiled at Elizabeth and asked, "What me do that?" His accent falling back into place as he fell more into the role he was to play. His hands reached to take over the wrapping of Rhys's wounds.

Tobbs muttered as she walked up the stairs to the deck. When the light struck her brightly, she squinted to block it out and began cursing under her breath. As of now, her frustration had shot up immensely when she came aboard. She'd gotten her rum, yes, and she'd started a bar fight, sure, and she'd even had some relaxing time to bathe and swim in the sea, definitely...but in all of that, who'd she not see once? Who'd she not see even when they were struggling against bloody cave thieves? Who'd decided not to show up when they were all stuck in a hole and needed some leadership-ly advice?
"JACK SPARROW!"
She shouted right in the middle of the deck. Looking around and noting the crew who was aboard began to inch away slowly, she narrowed her eyes upon them. She was beginning to get angry...and, like before, everyone knew when she was truly angry, she was beyond the point of no return...that point was a DOT to her...
Luckily, she wasn't there just yet...she was more worried, to be honest, than angry. Anger was how she was hiding it. The captain wasn't seen by her own two eyes for quite some time...She'd already thought he might be in town....he would've come back by now. Tobbs never had to worry about Jack cheating-he was the only man she'd ever trust as much as giving her entire life for, and while she knew he was a rather gorgeous captain, to say the least ( *swoooons* ), she trusted in him far enough for such things as that. She needed to know where he was, though, since he'd usually say something of where he'd be to one of the crew mates...
Bitng her lip in nervousness, she hid it by slamming around on the ship. She went up and down the stairs at least ten times, continuing her raving call for "CAP'N!!" and "JACK!" and "WHERE IN THE CARIBBEAN ARE YE?!" over and over again, until she was finally worn out enough from all the days events and her one manned search party. She decided her last hope was in the Captain's Quarters.
Entering, she sunk onto the nearest chair and turned it to face the door....she'd be waiting...and boy would he get some kind of suprise when he walked in...

Elizabeth looked over at Iniko and smiled as he offered to help her. Sighing and nodding, she stood and let him move to where she sat, watching what he did to make sure he was doing it all correctly.
"If you could, that'd be really helpful. I'm just going to wash out the cloths used so we can have them fresh again."
Picking them up and placing them in the basin again, she called out to the cabin boy to fetch some more water and went to washing. Occasional glances over her back at Iniko and what he was doing were rather constant..After all, she didn't know the man completely yet.
"So...Iniko...what've you been up to these past years then?"

Iniko carefully took over for Elizabeth as she moved off to wash the previously used clothes. His rough hands gently tied bandages around the bleeding woman's hands. The sound of Elizabeth's voice shocked him out of his little world as he finished the first hand and moved to the second.
"I lived with Mama on Papa's land. Worked as a freeman though. Papa kind enough for that! He agree to pay me," he said proudly. "But I want to leave place. Not much do," he explained. His hands worked steadily as he wrapped the bandages. "Want get treated like person," he explained. In truth this was why he had left home in the first place.
A small moan escaped Rhys as she opened her eyes. She stiffled a scream as she saw the strange man sitting next to her, his hands around her own. She yanked away causing pain to shoot up her broken arm, but she was free. She rolled close to the wall, as far from the man as she could get. Her eyes shot daggers at the pair. "Get away from me," she demanded coldly.

Elizabeth listened as Iniko spoke...she wondered over his stories, trying to listen to the earnest of his voice...she sensed he was telling the truth for some reason, and she nodded her head as if agreeing to his cause.
"Well, I'm glad for the assistance you're giving. And don't mind that pirate woman who was in here earlier. She's called Tobbs, and she's always had little patience, no trust for others, and definitely a temper!"
Laughing softly, she hung the newly washed cloths up on a little pole. When she heard Rhys stir, however, she grew very serious and quickly spun around as she heard the woman's cold words.
"Rhys, you can't keep jerking aorund like that! You'll open up all those wounds and hurt your arm further! Come on now...we're not going to hurt you! Iniko's just wrapping your hands....why can't you remember us?"

Rhys watched the woman pirate silently. Her eyes searched her for any hint that the woman was lying. She could only find honesty and earnest in the woman's eyes. The man on the other hand had an odd look to his eyes that she did not even want to get in to. With a small sigh, she stopped moving around and settled her eyes on the woman.
"I can't remember you. Maybe if you remind me, the last thing I remember is...." she paused the mere thought of the night before causing her to shudder. She could feel their grimmy hands on her and she closed her eyes tight trying to force the images out. "The second to last thing I remember is leaving the theives meeting last night. Ry was going to pick us up some drinks and then meet me back at 'home'. But then..." She shook her head, "How did I get here? And who are you people? And where is here?"

*Eric frowned a bit, placing his sturdy hand over his wound as he glanced at Evelyn out of the corner of his eyes.* Not at all *He coughed as she obviously didn't seem to be beliving him about his wound. He glanced around to take them away from the topic. If he was lucky, maybe she'd forget about it. He thrust his hands in his pocket and gazed down into the sparkling pool before them when suddenly Evelyn noted that they were all alone. His eyes trailed upwards so he was staring straight ahead and he cocked a brow. Slowly looking back over his shoulder at her he grinned. He couldn't rightly tell if she was joking or being serious.
This was a confusion he usually faced when he was around her although he was slowly starting to absorb the quirks she did when she was lying or joking. However she walked away and started pondering about the hole in the ceiling. His spirits fell slightly but when the cave shook he figured it was probably best if they hold off on “good times” for a while, lest they be buried midway by a mound of bolders.* Yeah, I think I can fit if I try hard enough. *He shrugged. However when she mentioned Mark his brow furrowed. He thought they were all on good terms again. Apparently they had a larger fight then what he thought. Grabbing a hold of one of the vines and giving it a large tug to test stability he glanced over at it.* What does he think he can do? What happened. I thought you two were on good terms again…. *He said, handing a vine over to her that he trusted to hold her weight.
Slowly and steadily he began to climb, eager to get out of this blasted cave and even more eager to get back to the ship to check on the others and continue on. The sooner they got the Pearl back the better.*

Evelyn's eyes had remained rather sternly focused on the task at hand. Getting out of the cave by any means necessary. The sound behind them seem to fade away and so she could only guess that the other members of the crew were on their way out of the place. As Eric spoke she noted the utter silence that was slowly beginning to engulf the place once more, adding to the eerie aura it was already giving off. Anxiety filled her once more, slowly foaming its way inside, and she'd have to get out soon before she suffered another strong wave of it.
Her fine hand stretched out and firmly gripped the vine Eric had decided was best for her, and prepared herself for the ascension. As he began prodding her about Mark she simply rolled her eyes and muttered a few curses. She wouldn't be able to hide it she supposed, by now Eric was close enough to pick out if something was bothering her, if something had gone wrong and she was attempting her best to hide it. "Ah, well, ta be truthful Eric, I doubt I'll ever be speakin' ta him again." She said lazily, with a bit of a grunt as she pulled herself up.
Her eyes remained pinned to the hole above her, boots seemingly clawing their way craftily up the rocky surface. "Mark and I had an argument...an' well...puttin' a bloody pistol barrel ta my temple isn' exactly a sign its goin' well." She commented a bit gruffly, giving another slight grunt as she reached a slight ledge, and use the other hand to pull herself up with the inky surface.
"Basically he tried bein' bloody smart with me..." She stated as she finally reached the hole and proceeded to find a foothold where she could simply launched herself through it all the while, with a bit of leverage as well.
She made it out fairly easily, there was a slight push from behind, and she needn't have even guessed at who had provided that for her. She emerged into sunlight, she took a cool, clean breath and half collapsed upon the moist floors before she turned to assist Eric out. Being of a bulkier stature she understood he would have a bit more difficulty doing so.
"And well..." She continued. "You know how well I take anyone tryin' ta be bloody smart with me." Evelyn stated, lifting a brow, offering a small smirk hoping to soften his reaction to it all. "Dared tryin' ta say the Pearl wasn' mine...technically it isn' but it damned well feels like it. I doubt Jack would have it any differently. And well to emphasize his point, he stuck the pistol to my temple, shoved me against the wall, you know the usual..." she said slightly off-handedly, making it sound as if that were how she got into arguments with anyone else.

Post by Emma Hawkins/Rick MacKinnon on Apr 6, 2005 22:36:35 GMT -5
Emma was about to respond to her friends' invitation to come with them, when Iniko slid down the hole and told her to go ahead. With a nonchalant shrug, she followed Eric and Evelyn through parts of the cave they'd already explored.
The dark one...Iniko...she didn't trust him.She had felt inclined to at first, but something seemed off. When Tobbs had shown up at the edge of the hole, something in his demeanor had just changed drastically. She didn't do anything really provovative;she was just there. But he didn't seem to know her...
She didn't trust him.Not one bit.
Her thoughts trailed off as they came to the exit."Bloody Hell,"she murmured."We're s'posed ta be able t'climb through that thing?"She and Evy could probably make it through the hole, but Eric would be a tight squeeze, certainly.Following her comrades, she took a handful of vines, and with skillful precision honed by years of climbing in the rigging of any ship that would take her, began her ascent.
Again, her mind was free as she went about this task;it was familiar, climbing, and she didn't have to concentrate too hard on it.She listened in on Evy and Eric's conversation, having nothing better to occupy her mind.
Her lips curved downwards as talk turned to Mark. She had not,of course, trusted him one bit since the son of a rotten sea dog had bloody well blown up the Pearl-The bloody PEARL for God's sakes![/i].And now, after crawling back to them,he had the nerve to attack one of the crew?
"God..."She muttered under her breath.Mark was going to catch it if she ever laid eyes on him again,to Hell with what Jack said for once...
When Emma disappeared from his vision, and it appeared that his aid was not required in bringing Rhys back to the crew's temporary ship-he refused to think of it as The ship,or their ship-he had begun searching the surrounding area for any other places the cave might lead to.
The woods were more tropical than what he had been used to as a child.Sometimes the Carribean climate still seemed odd to him, having been born and raised on one of the Hebridean islands of Scotland.Everything was a darker green there, and it was colder. The waves that beat against the coast seemed somehow harsher, even in appearance. What was odd,of course, was that he had spent most of the time when he was wandering in the hills of his native island thinking about when he would be able to join his father and be a pirate, sailing in faraway lands...And now that he was off marauding the Carribean in the MacKinnon name, his mind was back on the mist-covered hills and stormy sea of his old home.Somehow,he felt he knew the feeling;it was the feeling he got from the sea songs back in the tavern at home, the ones the old men would sing and play and talk about what home really was.
He shook his head, running his fingers through his mane of black hair out of habit.Getting too sentimental,he was. He'd just have to go back and see Scotland again one of these days...bring Em along, too. She'd like it there...
Maybe f'r th' honeymoon...
Blinking slightly to focus himself on the task at hand,he looked around again. His job was helped significantly by the sight of Evelyn dragging herself out of a hole in the ground.Well, that didn't take long....He walked over as she leaned down to assist Eric.
"Good t'see ya found a way out...'s just Eric an' Em down there now, aye?"

As Evelyn emerged, she gathered herself and she stared into the hole once more. Her eyes pierced the darkness, and she squinted, attempting to decipher figures that could be climbing their way out. She heard a few grunts and understood that Emma was probably climbing her way towards the top now. Knowing Eric and his manners, he'd probably let the lass through first.
It was then, however, that a familiar voice spoke up from behind, one Evelyn had not heard directed at her for some time. Taking a glance over her shoulder she attempted to look up at Rick, but the sun scorching overhead made it difficult for her to truly see his face clearly. "Aye, mate. 'S jus' Eric and Emma down there. I think Em should be comin' up first...if I know Eric 's well 's I do." she commented, offering him a small smile.
Evelyn looked back towards the hole as several thoughst seemed to stream through her mind. Now, thinking about it, Emma and Rick had been together for a long time. For what she knew anyway. Known eachother before Jack and their crew. She could always sense a really strong bond between the two.
They didn't even argue as much as Eric and she did, come to think of it. At the moment, Evelyn wasn't sure how to take that. Did that just mean they needed to learn to cooperate more? Did compliance come with time spent together, or did Eric and she have their explosive arguments because their bond was any less?
She shrugged it all off, there was no time to think that over at the moment, and deep in her heart she didn't want to ponder it further, lest she find something that she didn't arpprove of or like.

"Here," she begin to say, "is the ship of Captain Jack Sparrow's. You've been sailing with him for a few years now, Rhys. I'm Elizabeth, Will Turner's wife. He's friends with Sparrow. You're a crew mate, not a prisoner, so if you wish to leave, you may. But we need to make sure you heal up before running off and getting yourself killed..."
She sighed and shook her head, sitting down and pondering over the woman's speech on Rhys and some bad memory, she guessed...She wonderd who this "Ry" was, and she glanced at Iniko to see what he was up to before responding.
"As of this Ry, I'm sorry to say I know no one of that name. This man is Iniko, he's helping us on the ship. While this isn't the Pearl, we're on a journey to get it back...probably a bit hard to explain for now. And lastly, you had just killed a man all by yourself and fell into a rather deep hole..I think that's what caused you to forget. But are you feeling better?"
