Cara turned and leaned back against the railing an impish smile playing across he lips. "You mean aside from singing songs and shooting humans?" She laughs musically and makes as though to pass her hand through her hair, forgetting momentairly that it was pinned up. "In all honesty we live in peace in the valley. We each have our own respective jobs. Some are bards, some are bakers, or blacksmiths, farriers and traders. Then you have your military types like myself, whose sole duty it is to protect Imladris from invasion. Well, that was my job at least." She fell silent momentairly attuning to feelings of sadness and homesickness. "This must be awfully hard for you." She said tactfully.

Jack looked at her listening, somehwat interested the other half of him not really sure what to make of it.
"Must be awfully hard for you..." Jack blinked, he'd tuned out for a moment then gave her a half confused look at he began rumaging in his sack of food and took out a bread type thing, and took a few bites.
"What's hard for me?" He asked, giving himself time to regain his train of thought. "Being here........or being without a ocean?" In trusth he just wanted to be at sea again. He never felt right walking on a surface that wasn't rocking under him.

"Both I would suppose." She said softly as he bit into a bit of Lembas, reaching into the bag herself and pulling free another wafer for herself. "I can imagine it must be difficult for you to get used to being in another place. If it were me, I don't know what I would have done actually. Though I must say you seem to be taking it rather well." She seems to think a moment. "Well aside from when you first got here." She laughs suddenly. "Truth be told I thought I was the only person who could annoy Elrond that much."
Back in the grand hall....
Elrond looked about the hall at the assembled peoples. Things were going quite well, that Jack Character hadn't made an appereance as of yet, and he hoped it would stay that way. The remainder otherworld mortals were actually tolerable. Except maybe for the white haired one that kept annoying the other elves with his asinine questions. He looked over and saw Duinorwen enter the room, but noticed Caradain wasn't with her. He approached the auborn haired elf and cleared his throat "I haven't seen your riend as of yet tonight, has she forgotten it is her duty to attend such functions?" Duinorwen merely shrugged.
"Lord Elrond, if you wish I could find her for you." Boromir said appearing behind the Elf Lord. Elrond merely nodded assent and waived the Gondorian away.

Jack shrugged. "That Legolas character had it coming...." he stated as if this were a article of fact, and not merely opinion. and he added in a undertone. "Bloody pansy....." he frowned a bit, just thinking really, then shrugged, and fumbled with te ring he had around his neck on that leather cord.
"I figure this little thing got me here......so there's got to be a way to get back with it..." He seemed partly amused by this as well. "Never would have picked the thing up had i known......"
Will Turner was still getting over this twin of his. Legolas was older, wiser and apparently quite.........blonde. Utterly blonde. Will found himself glad for his own dark hair color and the length of it. Elizabeth was talking rather calmly with a elf at her side. A "Arwen" Will thought her name was. He frowned and watched Norrington with the other elves. He wanted to go home too, if truth be told, but he had a feeling that ring Jack had was the key to this mess. And where was Jack anyway?
The pirate flicked the ring into the air, and caught it deftly with his hand again, then flicked it back up and caught it again.....a absent minded game. Just then he heard a sound from behind and whirled around to meet whoever it was. As it happend it was Boromir. Jack frowned, his hand on his sword hilt.
"Hello...." Jack said calmly, still never really trsuting this man. then again....he didn't trust many as it was...this particular person was no exception.
"I was looking for lady Cara..." Boromir began. Jack's eyes flickered a bit, and he looked at the elf.
"Aye....you found her...." he said. Having no real reason to feel overly protective, he was surprised to feel he was. "Why?" He asked.

Duinorwen watched with mild distaste as Boromir left, then bowed her head to excuse herself from Elrond's company. She wondered where Cara could have gone...But she was sure it would be all right.Cara could take care of herself.
Just then, she was accosted by the white-haired mortal. She sighd."I don't know how to explain where you are,I don't know where you came from, and I don't know how to send you back.Anything else you want to talk about?"
The mortal glared at her.Who did this woman think she was, talking to him like this?"I am a Commodore of the King's Royal Navy, and will be adressed with more respect than that,"he said icily.Duinorwen glared at him,her eyes shifting color from teal to bright green.
"Your Navy is not here to protect you, mortal," she spat."And your rank there gives you no power here.I would suggest you remember that...some people are less patient than I."
And before her little bit of patience wore off,she exited the Hall.It was too crowded for her,and she desparately needed some fresh air....

Cara nodded thoughtfully about his assesment. If the ring were the key to his being here, then they would have to find out what they could about, and that included how to make it return him to his home. She felt a small surge of sadness at this thought. "Well in a way I'm glad you did pick it up." She admited softly.
Elizabeth was quite happily cahtting with this new female elf Arwen. She appeared to have breeding and sophistication, but still carried that independant streak she had noticed in Cara. The two moved off Leaving Will and Legolas alone, giggling between themselves about men apparenty.
Cara watched as Jack idily fliped the ring as though it didn't control the fate of his returning home. She heard a noise behind them and turned spying Boromir. She stepped to the side slightly behind Jack as the Gondorian looked towards her, proclaiming he had been looking for her.
"What business is it of yours what I seek her for?" Bormir said starrnig down the man slightly. "if you must know the Lord Elrond wonders at her absence at the feast." Cara cringed somewhat.
"You can tell his lordship that I was indisposed, and felt not that it was necessary for me to make an appearance..." Boromir didn't seem entirely content with that answer though.

Jack waited. Then he frowned. "You heard the lass, mate......" He said calmly. "She doesn't feel like going......" Boromir moved over to the somewhat shorter man, and stared down at him.
"You have no rank here...." Boromir began. "Don't presume I shall take orders from one such as yourself....." Jack grinned. He'd enjoy pounding this man's face in. But......he stopped. He didn't need to lay a hand on this man to scare him.
"I might have no rank here mate...." Jack began. "But I do have a few magic things working on my side......" He saw Boromir's eyes flicker with muted fear and something like distrust. "You dnon't want me to use them do you mate?" Jack added with a broad grin. Boromir grumbled angerily and turned to leave after making a bow to Cara and left.
The pirate grinned just slightly. "Never would have guessed he'd be afraid of magic......" He said casually then looked at Cara. "Who is he anyway?"

Cara slowly exhaled the breath she'd been holding, if it was one thing she didn't want, it was a fight on her hands. Thankfully Jack managed to find a more, cunning, way to solve the problem. She sighed in relief when the man walked away and hugged Jack suddenly "Thank you." She smiled slightly at the somewhat taken aback look on his face. "And he is a mortal, most mortals in our world either deeply fear, or dislike magic." She stepped over to the stone bench on the balcony and seated herself as Jack asked who Boromir was. "He is the eldest son of the Steward Denethor of Gondor. Long has Gondor been without her rightful king and the stewards have grown somewhat, comfortable in their positions. Boromir seems to fancy himself Gondor's next King, even though the true King lies hidden in exile awaiting his moment to reveal himself." She sighed and shook her head. This shall prove to be a most interesting trip, whgat with the combination of Legolas, Boromir and yourself." She grinned at him suddenly. "I trust you can behave yourself mellon nin?" She said her eyes sparkiling with mischief once more.
"Cara, There you are!" Duinorwen's voice came floating on the air.
Borormir returned to Lord Elrond, giving a low bow. "Have you found my wayward Captain?" Elrond asked.
"I have your lordship, she was in the company of that troublesome human, she declined the request for her presence."
"I see..." Elrond replied. "Then as far as I'm concerned she has handed in her resignation, whither she goes after this quest is concluded I care not."

Duinorwen came over to where Cara and Jack were standing, though she was somewhat farther from them than they were to one another. She leaned casually on the balcony railing."Lord Elrond sent Boromir to find you.Judging by his temper,I suppose you gave him a piece of your mind?"
Cara nodded slightly, and Duinorwen smirked. But it soon turned to a grimace."Elrond isn't happy."
"Lovely grasp on the obvious you've got there,"Jack commented."He doesn't seem to be happy a lot of the time, does he?"
Duinorwen gave him a knowing smile."Elrond's seen his share of troubles,I expect. But it is true that he can seem very...serious."She seemed to think that this was the end of this matter for now.For a short while, there was silence, then she shuddered.
"Cara,is it just me,or do you get a...bad feeling about that human...Boromir?"

"It's not just you Duin." Cara said wrapping her arms about herself, and shuddering slightly. "I don't trust him and I don't like him in the least." She sighed heavily and turned slightly to look out over the balcony. "I saw him eyeing the halfling Frodo." She told them both. "He believes the ring can be used as a weapon against the enemy, though we've told him no good can come of it. He refuses to listen, he wishes the ring be taken to his father Denethor in Minas Tirith." She turns back towrds them looking first to Duin then to Jack, her eyes meeting and holding his. "I fear what his desire for the ring may eventually drive him to." Though her words were calm there was uncharacteristic fear, and uncertainty lying behind her eyes.

Duinorwen nodded at Cara's comments, tilting her head back. Her eyes searched the heavens unsettledly. To the casual observer, she looked very calm, but her eyes betrayed the sense of restlessness that was growing inside of her.She wanted to leave as soon as she could. It was obvious to her that this was a dangerous quest, and to her that meant that the sooner it was over with, the better.
She ran a hand through her hair, humming softly to herself. The waiting always got to her...

Jack turned from one elf to the other, amused. "Well if the tension builds here anymore we might all be crushed under it....." He said casually, a grin on his face.
He just yawned, in attempts to shake the feeling. "I'll introduce him to my pistol if he tries anything....savvy?" His voice was almost playful. "Stop frowning.....we'll be alright..." He said, trying to convince them as well as himself.

Cara smiled despite herself, pushing back a stray lock of hair that had fallen in front of Jacks face unconciously. "I can't say I'd mind you introducing him to that contraption you call a pistol actually." She said laughingly. "But you are correct, if we dwell on this any longer we shal drive ourselves to madness." She noted Jack yawn and swiftly followed suit. "Blasted things are contagious they are." She said with a sort of half smile. "Should I take that as a sign that you wish to seek your rest Captain Jack Sparrow?"

Jack merely shrugged, amused, then gestured over the balcony, and took a bit of bread as he did so. He chewed thoughtfully, swallowed, then. tilting his head back slightly as to keep that particulary annoying stray bit of hair from his face. He never was one to use a comb.
"What about this place?" He asked. "Show me around?" He actually seemed partly interested in this. But then he explained. "If I'm to stay here, I want to know this place as well as my own ship...."

Cara smiled slightly and tilted her head to the side. "If you wish I will be more than happy to show you around, you only have need tell me what it is you wish to see." Cara had forgotten for the moment that Duin was standing not but five feet away and the auborn haired elf rolled her eyes profusely at her friend. "As I said once before Rivendell has a beauty all it's own. She looked up noticing twighlight settling upon them. "Besides this has always been my favorite time for a stroll."
