Suddenly, the child began shrieking.Jack looked at her, bewildered."Why's it crying?"he muttered."Bloody thing..."He examined the bundle, still not entirely sure what one was supposed to do with an infant."'Ere,now,Jessy,"he said"What're ye cryin' for?"

For a second Jack considered gagging the crying thing in his hands, thought better of it and handed the squealing bundle off to Thomas.
"Here....shut it up." Jack said and gestured to his cabin. "Or lock it up....."

Thomas looked at the squealing bundle in his arms.It shrieked even louder, then went quiet. It was a deadly,calm-before-the-storm sort of quiet-the child's eyes were full of tears, and she reached a hand out desparately towards Jack.Thomas blinked in bewilderment.
"Jack...I think she wants to go to you..."

Dark eyes glittered and Jack turned his back to Thomas.
"I'm not a nurse.....I'm a pirate..." Shrieks that shook the ship filled the room. Jack jumped a few inches and turned around, whipping the child out of Thomas's hands and making for the deck.
"We've got the kill it! It's pocessed!" Jack said, ready to toss the baby overboard. "No human can scream like that! It's the voices of hell it is!" But to his utter surprise the baby was giggling quite happily. Jack frowned, and turned to Thomas who had run after him. Jack started to hand the baby off to Thomas. But the baby's face contorted, ready to cry again.
With a fidgeting look at Thomas Jack relented and held the baby. "A fine thing for a captain to be doin'...should be with the crew....."

Someone came up behind Jack, arms crossed."Well, well,"said a voice, sounding amused."Didn't know ye had such a way with the kiddies,Jack."
Jack glared, muttering something which most likely ought not have been said in the prescence of an impressionable young child.
"Is she yours?"asked the sailor curiously?"
Jack gaped."NO,she is not mine!I'm jus taking care of her until we can find someone who can keep her!"he shouted.
"Very tender.Almost makes me feel guilty, interruptin' such a touching scene..."

" Yes, well..."Jack said, a soft smile across his face. He looked to the peson in back of him."...well get back to work!."
As The woman went back to work, he swayed the baby back and forth in his arms and sang a soft lullaby until she fell asleep. " How could somebody give up somethig so very precious?".

The child was sleeping now. Jack passed her off to Thomas....determined to go about busniess as usual.
"I'm not sure where you want to keep her...but my cabin will work for now......" He said and walked back up the deck, leaving Thomas staring at the ticking time bomb that was Jessy.

(OOC: Holy Sh** this story is coming along! Thanks for adding onto the story everyone! By the way, it takes place a few years after the movie ended.)
Thomas held little Jessy close to his chest and tight. Almost immediately Jessy's whimpers, cries, and shrieks began to die off. Thomas looked at her and whispered, "that's me girl. Gently sleeping, you've had a helluva a day, being dropped off with no one to care for ye. So rest now." Jessy's little eyes were wide as she looked up into the kindly face of gentle Thomas. She began to coo softly, and those delighted little noises lifted up into the starry night.

Jack was muttering to himself about babies and ships becoming nurserys and growled at anyone who dared to approach him on his apparent "paternal skills" and ordered anyone who made a crack about it to clean the deck.
Of course this didn't keep him from being curious about the thing he still flatly refused to acknowledge as a baby, at least openly. In fact once he'd order Thomas to go find it a place to sleep he spent most of his time wandering around near his own cabin, not wanting to go in, but still utterly perplexed by the screaming bundle of baby fury.

Finally,Jack decided he needed some fresh air.He walked across the deck, tripping over seven people who were attempting to clean it,all having started doing so in the past 5 minutes. He shook his head, walking off of the ship and onto the streets.
"Jack!"said a familiar voice behind him.He froze, knowing who he would see when he turned around...

It was Rose his daughter. His eyes widened, as he did not know what to believe. He hadn't seen her in so many years.
He ran and hugged her tightly taking every breath every smell of her in." I can't believe its you! How 'ave you been. Wher 'ave you been?" But before she could speak he kissed her cheek and straked her hair. Oh how he had missed her.

"I'm fine,Da'..."Rose smiled at her father."What've you been up--"
Suddenly, there came a howling from the general directiion of the Pearl."Jessy!"Shouted Jack.He ran off, climbing into the cabin, and, before he himself realized he was doing so,picking the infant up,rocking her gently.Rose stood with her arms crossed in the doorway.
"Does Tobbs know about this?"
Jack twitched."She's not MY daughter!!"

Jessy having discovered that howling her lungs out could bring Jack running in about ten seconds flat gigglied at seeing the infuriated pirate staring down at her. Rose laughed.
"Not your's huh? Well...she might as well be."
"If it was, then I'd feel sorry for it." Jack said. "After all..I'm not exactly a parent you know..." He gave Rose a smile. "Maybe twas a good thing I didn't raise you...."

At this comment Rose laughed and embraced her father. "You've been as good a father as a really bad egg pirate such as you can be," Rose replied with the embrace, "so where'd this little 'un come from? Surely she wasn't just dropped out from the sky." At this Thomas came into the conversation, "It's an odd story Miss Glassman, but if you be willin' to sit and hear it I'll tell it to ye."

Rose turned to the familiar voice and smiled at her fathers friend. "Of course I'd be willing Thomas, I'm very curious about how it would appear my da' has become a father, even if a surrogate one, yet again. And please, enough with the Miss Glassman stuff, I prefer Rose." She said as she came up next to her father and began cooing at the giggling bundle in his arms. "I wonder what Tobbs'll have to say about this once she finds out..."
