Mark smiled and began to wistle a tune. He was making it up as he went. Mark noticed that Eric was looking rather gloomy. He'd been there many a time these past few days...he walked over to the man and placed his hand on his shoulder.
"I know you miss Evelyn mate...but don't give up hope. I've seen how strong she is. I am sure is giving that bastard hell right now. Plus I am sure she can handle herself, I mean she has had to pull you out of some situations right?"
Mark said with a laugh at the end. He was trying to keep hope instilled in the man. He figured Eric wasn't the type to duck and run. He thought about his childhood, and how he'd lost his brother and his dad. He didn't want Eric to feel that pain. He looked up at Eric
" When I was young...I lost my brother and my father...The pain I felt was so unbearable I thought I would never recover...I haven't fully yet...but in time I will learn to live with it I suppose...I don't want you to feel that pain mate...I wouldn't wish that on anyone...except those bastards that took Evy. If you agree to it mate, I think we should stop gally-vanting around here and find her. I will help you find her mate... but I will go that far and I am turning back. I have a bad feeling about that city. Mark my words mate... that city will be turned red. I don't think it's worth losing any of us. I know you've fought Barbossa before...but this time he seems stronger. He won't make the same mistakes again. I will go as far as to help Evy but then I am headin back....I couldn't bear it."
Mark said to Eric with a hint of saddness in his voice. He truly felt at least one of them would die. He didn't think all the riches in the world was worth losing anyone you cared about.
"Think of Will. He could die fighting for this damned city. His child would grow up never knowing who his father is...could you bear that?"

*Eric tossed the rock in his hand aside as Jack come over, taking a seat next to him in an attempt to ease his mind. For a long time he didn't look at the man. He only gazed into the flames and listened, sitting there still as stone. He shook his head about the crew comment and finally turned his eyes on Jacks.* No, I know they're much more then a crew. *He stated in all honesty. He knew how much Evelyn valued each and every one of them, practically thought of them as family. And he had confidence in their abilities.* Revenge sounds good. *He said, leaning his head back against the tree trunk as the Captain walked off. He gazed at the sky a moment then closed his eyes.
A moment later he heard footsteps, then Marks voice. He looked the man over and smiled sadly.* I know she's strong. *He said and then laughed just slightly.* She's gotten me out of a lot of binds. *He said, remembering back on them all. His brow furrowed as Mark started to speak about his family.* Im sorry about your family, Mark. *He said, reaching out and placing his hand on the mans arm. Then he frowned and sighed heavily.* But I already know that pain. When I was young I had a sister who was blind. A fire was set to our house one night by two men who were fired from my fathers buisness. I was trapped upstairs with my sister and she died up there before my dad finally got to us.
He was framed for that fire...everyone thought he set it and charged him with the murder of my little sister. My parents spent a year in jail and then they hung my father in the town square, in front of all of us. *Eric explained, closing his eyes. A single tear rolled down his cheek and he shrugged a little.* My mom died a few years ago from Tuberculosis, she was still in England at the time. *He said, opening his eyes again and looking at Mark.* I lost my fiance too, she took a bullet for me....so I know pain. *He stated, feeling himself growing angry. He quickly shook the feelings away and blinked as Mark said he would help find Evy but would turn around before they reached the city.
Eric grunted at this.* Look around you, Mark. You're surrounded by pirates....pirates. *He repeated.* They're different then most yes but they still value treasure as if it IS life....so you won't convince them to turn around. Not even Will. His father was bloody Bootstrap Bill....whether he likes it or not he's a pirate deep down. *Eric stated, glancing down and noticing the pirate brand on Marks arm. He grinned a little.* Apparently you're a pirate too.... *He said, in almost a curious tone, not understanding why now all the sudden the guy was afraid of what might be in the city when he'd obviously faced trouble before.*

(Kora's unable to post at the moment and for the sake of moving things along, I've gotten permission from her to RP her.)
Kora eyed her rescuers warily, she had only narrowly escaped being lunch food for the giant snake moments before and was cursing the woman, Rhys was her name?, who had suggested her being left in the pit. As soon as she could she would get revenge on that woman. She watched the two as they confered together quietly. The woman had blond hair and blue eyes. She was beautiful and seemed to have a stubborn attitude, someone determined to get something done once she set her mind to it.
Her gaze then turned to the man, Avery she heard him being named. He was tall, red hair, blue eyes. He looked so familiar. So familiar. Suddenly, she knew. He was related to Rhys, the damned girl that had her thrown in the pit. This was her chance, her chance to get revenge. But how to do it...
She watched as Avery collapsed onto the ground. He was covered in fresh blood and looked as if he had just come from a fight. She stepped forward to help, but was stopped by a gun held by the nameless woman. Her mind was too occupied with trying to decide how to handle her revenge to actually worry about the man. However, she continued to watched the blond woman's movements. She seemed kind of attatched to the man.
Her thoughts where interrupted by a question, and then suddenly Avery was awake again. There seemed to be some kind of joke between the two before he fell asleep from blood loss and exhaustion. Then, she knew. She would get between the two. Make Avery's hers. She would use him against this woman, hurting him in the long run, and against his sister.
The woman tried to wake him up, but did not seem to be doing a very good job of it. She stepped forward with her hands up, "The only reason I was ever with Sparrow's crew was so that I could get close enough to killl him! Now I just want to help." Before the woman could say anything she had knelt down at Avery's side and kissed him gently, pulling him out of a deep sleep.
Avery woke in a blissful state, unsure of why he was awaking. His body ached, but he still felt wonderful for some reason. For some reason he remembered a voice telling him of his promise and threatening no more kisses. He couldn't remember anything else, though.
However, this was enough to get him up. He sat up slowly, fighting off dizzy spells as he moved. He would get better and get back to Evelyn. He would keep her safe and he would someone figure out what was going on with the blue-eyed woman. All the while, he would decide what to do with the new woman and how to keep himself alive with 'Bossa. "Al'ight, I'm up. Ya wanted back with the c'ew?" he asked Tasha. Then turning to Kora he said, "What's yeh name and how'ld ye get down the'e? Nevehmind, tell us while we walk. We a'e b'inging ya to the Captain."

A tear fell down Mark's cheek. The story he'd just heard was one of the saddest stories he'd ever heard. He stood there looking at Eric for a time. He didn't know what to say. He began to look around searching for the words... as if they were printed in the stars or in the forest. He said the first thing that came to mind.
"I too am sorry about your family...I can only imagine what that must have been like for you. My dad had a gunsmith shop, like me, and my brother was in there helping him that day. My brother was loading cartridges with powder. A spark from the forge landed in one of the sacks and the whole thing went up. They didn't have a chance. I try not to think about it much... I try to think about the good times we had. My brother and I used to go hunting for rabbits and fox and the like. We'd compete to see who could get the biggest one. My dad was a pretty good man. He did drink from time to time, but he never lost his temper or anything. He taught me how to shoot....heh heh. My mother is back in Port Royal...I came here to bring back some loot to help get her into better house and to hire a doctor that could care for her. I was going to use what was left to open a new gun shop. But I don't know now...."
He looked at Eric again. He paused.
"I understand that they are pirates...I am one too mate...and it's not that I am affraid...I just think that in our condition it would be a slaughter if we tried to fight....nearly half of us are wounded....and well....Evy is missing...."
Mark said. He didn't like the situation at all. What he hated worse was that every moment they spent here brought Barbossa closer to the city...and thus closer to Evy's death. He was sure Barbossa would kill her once he got to the city.

*Tobbs sighed as if in agreement to his thoughts. She knew she’d have to wait, and he’d have to wait. And waiting wasn’t as fun and great as not waiting. And it was so easy to not wait. Just a few steps into the jungle and they’d be clear.*
*But nooooo. They’d have to wait. She was about to mutter something again about not waiting when she heard Jack speaking bluntly.*
“And you think yer makin’ this ANY easier? I’m the one ‘os got trouble ‘olding back!”
*She smiled matter of factly and returned his kiss, leaning her head against his chest as he spoke about saving Evelyn and Barbossa.*
“As long as its not the jungle floor I’m fine…privacy would do wonders, but I honestly don’ know if I care right now…”
*She, of course, did care, and would definitely feel better if that some place was a good enough place, but she was speaking off of desire, not needs. And so she shrugged lightly and looked back up to him, her cocky expression taking over once more when he spoke.*
“Well, always expect the unexpected Jack. Save you from a lot…“
*And here she kissed him briefly on the cheek.*
“….of…”
*And now she moved down to the edge of his lips.*
“….trouble…”
*Finally she just kissed him softly, sweetly, but ending with some passion of its own. She was having fun, and everything with Jack she wanted to last. Because everything meant something to her. And this game was more than a mere game. But it was still fun.*

*Eric simply nodded as Mark appologized about the losses he had faced in his life. Every single one of them had been hell for him and he'd be damned if he'd give up on finding Evelyn and face such a loss again. He knew this one would be one too many for him, he felt she was all he had left. Eric listened to the mans story about the death of his family, and about some of the happier times they had and he smiled a little, remembering fond times of his own.* My father never took me hunting. I grew up in a wealthy neighborhood, mansion, butlers and maids, the works. But I remember my father was so fond of horses. He'd drop everything he was doing just to take me and my mother horseback riding.
And even though he was "proper" as hell he had his moments. He was the one who taught me to fight, thats why Im better with my fists then a sword. My father never used one, had no reason to. *He said, smiling as he remembered. When the man said his mother was still in Port Royal he nodded.* Well thats good you still have her, and that you take care of her. *He stated.
He figured the man had a point about them going to the city now in the condition that they were in. But Eric had come to far to turn around now, whether he was beat to hell or not. When Mark stated that Evelyn was missing everything Eric had been feeling earlier suddenly hit him again and he frowned. He couldn't sit around the camp any longer while Evelyn was out there somewhere. He wanted to go find her and he wanted to go now, whether he had to go alone or not didn't matter to him.
He knew he'd be better off with a partner, considering he wasn't in top condition. But it wouldn't stop him if he had to go alone. He glanced over at Mark, around the camp, and then back to Mark. He rose, still watching the guy.* I can't sit here any longer, I have to go look for her even if it means going alone. Who knows what she's going through right now and I'll be damned if they get her to that city and have their way with her. *He said, loud enough for all the crew to hear and then stormed off into the jungle, led only by faith and the pale moonlight.*

Roux had simply watched the others a long while. Then Eric got up and left. Roux watched him go, then left after him.
"Eric, mate if you're going after Barbossa, I will come with you." The man's eyes glowed a soft gold in the dark as he waited for a reply.
"It isn't safe to be alone as it is, with Barbossa's crew afoot. I will help you."

*As Eric flitted off he heard the soft footfalls of someone behind him. Figuring it was someone from the crew he wasn't too hasty to go on the defensive. He glanced over his shoulder and smiled as Roux offered to help.* Thanks, Roux. I could use it...I'm sure Evy could too. *He stated with a nod and continued on.
He hoped the others in the crew would follow suit and get going as well. He knew they could use the rest but at the moment he found Evelyn more important. Even if he felt weak now, he knew everything would change once he saw her.* We're close to the city now, it shouldn't be too long before we come across them. *He stated, a hopeful tone in his voice.*

Rhys had found herself a comfy spot at a fire side, after her conversation with the Captain. She would not be able to rest. Not knowing that Eve was still out there and that Barbossa's crew had tried to kill her new, she hesitated to say it afraid of the consequences, friends. She had only joined the crew a few days earlier but they were beginning to feel more like friends then her friends among the thieves had ever been.
She watched them all silently, still try to figure out what had happened to everyone while they had been lost in the jungle. Her eyes just happened to be on Eric as he got up and left informing the everyone he was going after Eve. Jack had done the same thing ealier. Ran off before she had a chance to object and look at how he turned out. She shook her head and stood up, running after him.
She caught up to him only to find Roux there was well, she smiled grimly. "I am not letting you go off alone. If they almost took the Captain down, how do you expect to hold up by yourself or with Roux. I'm coming with you two," she told them. "Besides the more the merrier, right?" she asked with a small attempt at a smile and lightening the mood.

::Jack considered Tobbs a long while...seriously thought about things and finally just gave up. He kissed her gently at first then just gave in::
::All the blasted tension she'd built up in him for the past few days came flooding out and he half walked half carried her out of camp::
::He was attempting charm, tripped over a tree root and it took them both down. Jack laughed and kissed her neck again:: "Well, luv....let's just say I can't resist ye....savvy?"
::and he kissed her....throughly....not sure exactlly what he was trying to prove....but damnit he was going to make this special.....he honestly just wished he wasn't injured. But he honestly just could not take it anymore::
::he kissed her neck feverishly, and whispered: "No more games luv...."
***
::the pistol went off and Jack rubbed his eyes glaring at the birds who had been chirping offensivly::
"Bloody birds........" He turned and put his arm back around Tobbs's waist, holding her closer. He muttered something about evil birds and ran a hand through her hair once, and blinked at the dawn light::
::The full memory of the night came flooding back and Jack stared at Tobbs in silence for a long while then kissed her cheek:: "Morning luv."

Roux nodded his golden eyes glowing a bit more brightly as he stared into the jungle, almost as if they reflected sunlight.
Then he looked at Eric. "We will get your lady back, my friend. I promise you this." and he looked back to camp. "The others will follow, I know them. They just need time to regroup. But once they are together..." Roux smiled indulgently. "They are unstoppable together, and will be a force to be reckoned with."
"After all, Evelyn alone is trouble. I'm sure Barbossa regrets every second he has her, and she'll make his life hell, mate."
::He offered Eric on of his two swords and then pointed into the jungle, in the direction of El Dorado.:: "This way...I'm sure of it."

"Is that so? Well I clearly must be mistaken then..."
*He smirked and shook his head a bit, overthinking that she definitely seemed like she was defending him over Tobbs...Topsword...he'd get his revenge on her...once he got what he needed, she would have never wished to even have seen him...*
*Drawing back to attenion as he felt her fingertips under his chin, he wtached her and he felt something in his heart stir at her words. His eyes filled with compassion, care, and devotion and love towards her. He'd never felt such things before, but now, with Selina...everything he cared on was her. And he'd never cared before.*
"I do. And as long as I'll live, I'll do my utmost to defend you, protect you, and avenge anyone who so looks at you the wrong way..."
*He was serious, very serious. He loved Selina, and would do anything, everything to protect her. And so he closed his eyes but kept himself alert. He loved the feel of being close to her. When she began talking, he gazed at her and brushed a hand through ehr hair, thinking too over the gold of El Dorado. Then, she asked such a question, and he blinked. Blinked a few times actually.*
*He kept silent, watching her as she closed her eyes, thinking things over and wondering how to respond. Finally, he sighed and spoke slowly, barely above a whisper...*
"Loved....loved someone...? Truly, I have to say I havent. With me...love just doesn't seem to root itself in me. That is, it hasn't until of late....but the only person that could come remotely close so such a love, would be my father, I'd guess. No one else has in my past."
*He paused in thought over this.*
"...Selina, you've changed much in my life...so much.....and I'm grateful, to say the least."
*He tightened his hold onto her just for a second and released it.*
"But surely there's been someone to care for in your own life...?"

*Tobbs watched Jack with keen interest. Those kisses and teasing seemed to bring in much thought. She wondered what was running through his mind, planning to try and hold back from just letting herself lose control at his next move, when he started kissing her. Gently at first, but then, in mid kiss, she sensed soemthing else had happened.*
*She had tried to fight it, tried hard not to give in, but it was too late. She could guess Jack had just given in, and she knew she couldn't hold back any longer. So she just went with the flow.*
*Smiling and keeping up as best she could as they headed out from camp, she tried focusing solely and chiefly on removing Jack's shirt without hurting him any further, when they tripped over a tree and she went down with him. She laughed softly, dismissing it and closing her eyes as he kissed her neck. Truly was a weak spot.*
*Trying to keep sane in the whole situation, she smiled at his words and tried to speak, but she knew if she did she'd just be random and be lost. Ah well, forget it, she didn't want to be entirely in control at the moment. She might not even want any control. So she just gave up entirely.*
*Kissing him back lovingly, deeply, and pretty darn passionately, she nodded as he whispered and trailed down to her neck again, almost breathlessly managing to whisper back.*
"...savvy...."
*And she let herself be lost and absorbed in the heat of the moment...*
****
*Tobbs barely heard the gunshot. She'd been sleeping so well she hardly was aware of what was going on around her. With Jack, she felt safe. And when she felt his kiss onher cheek, she snuggled next to him and sighed contentedly, not wanting to open ehr eyes and see daylight flood in ehr vision.*
*Whispering, half muttering as well, she spoke up in reply, eyes still closed.*
"Morning...? already? Do we 'ave to go back...? We could always stay 'ere a bit longer..."
*She peered up at him, her eyes almost blinded by the morning sun. She closed them again and let another sigh out.*
"See....I told you the jungle floor wouldn't be 'alf as bad as you said..."
*A smile rose upon her lips as she recalled the night with Jack. Was definitely unforgettable. Moving her hand over to find his, she rested it there and hoped he'd just lie there and not move for once. Though she doubted he would. It was morning. Barbossa would be moving. And so she snuggled as close as she could again to him, savoring the last moments of this.*

::Jack looked at Tobbs a while and kissed her cheek. He wasn't all too thrilled about dawn arriving, as was evidence if the pistol shot::
::He wasn't sure if what had happened was a good thing or something that could, in the long run, turn around and kick his arse. God he loved her, really did. But....now that...what if Barbossa knew? Tobbs would be, forever, or as long as he lived, she'd always be a target for anyone who happened to hate Jack...and he had had enough time to make enemies::
"But we have to go back so we can get Evelyn back...." He said with a note of seriousness. He cared about his crew more then he could explain....and he loved Tobbs. He would admit that much now...::
::He drew her close to him. What had happened was one of those things Jack was sure was one of those "life changers" he'd heard a lot about. For him it had been becoming a pirate, getting the Black Pearl, meeting Will Turner and now Tobbs.....:::
::and it was a bit too much for him to process. that would take some time....and right now he did not have the luxery oftime. He had to find Barbossa......the life of one of his crew depended on him..and he wouldnt let her down::
"Come on luv...." He sat up slowly and kissed her forehead gently. "We have to go after Barbossa...."

Roux looked at Rhys and grinned then looked back at Eric. "see, what did I tell you?"
He pointed back into the jungle and looked at them both with vividly gold eyes now. "Let's go. Dawn is coming soon we would be better off to reach the city soon."
Roux gave his companions a half smile and tromped back into the jungle. He was personally ready to give Barbossa a good beating himself for the trouble he'd caused, but he'd let Eric and Jack have that honor. They deserved it.
