* Maria glanced around the set table. She picked up a spoon and fingered it while looking into it at her awkward relfection. ' Maria!' she heard someone call. he prompty dropped the spoon and turned to see it was Evelyn. * " Evelyn!" * Maria smiled brightly while bending down and to pick up the spoon and setting it back on the table.' Who's yer friend?' Evelyn asked with a raised brow*
* Chris stood up when the woman asked who he was. He stuck out his hand and smiled his most charming smile, his signature smile.* " My Name's Chris Hughs, miss... And may I have your name?" * He asked gentlemen like. At 20 he was told he had a knack for being proper.
* One Evelyn took site of Eric and didn't have a smile to show. Maria was confused. She looked at Eric then At Evelyn. Something had happened but it was best not to be involved*

*Will smiled again at Maria and Chris and shook his head, giving a wave with his hand.* Ah, no. I don't mind at all. *He said. By now he was used to having strangers frequent not only his home but his life and this lad looked nice enough. He glanced over as Evy entered with Luis and gave a nod with his head.* You're welcome, Evy. It's always nice to see old friends around once in a while. *He stated. In all honesty Jacks crew were seemingly the only true friends he had, excluding Eric. He enjoyed their company and felt more at home with them than he did the other citizens of Port Royal. However as he glanced around at the faces before him at the table he grinned a little and laughed lightly. He noticed more than a few of them gathered were more than uncomfortable. He couldn't say that he blamed them, he had been in their spot before only two years earlier. Whenever he had come to the governors mansion he was watched by the hired help as if he were a theif just waiting for the perfect snatch. He had always been relieved when he and Elizabeth spent time away from the luxuries of the upper class however when he married he knew he would have to adjust. In a sense he had, he knew how and when to act proper whenever it was needed and could appear respectable as well. As Mark came in and set the wine on the table Will grabbed it and looked it over then nodded and grinned.* Good choice, mate. *He stated, setting it back down. It was a cheap wine but sometimes cheap tastes could fool even wealthy tongues. Finally the food was brought out and set about upon the table and cups were filled to the brim.* Well it looks like we can finally get started! *He exclaimed then licked his lips as he began to fill his plate.*

*Eric messed with the silverware and napkin beside his plate as he awaited the arrival of the food. When he heard Evelyn mutter something his head remained lowered but his eyes glanced up towards her and he shifted a bit in his seat. He could have never guessed that it would be this way between them if ever they met up again. Somehow she now felt so foreign to him, and the level of discomfort he felt around her surprised him. Considering that just a year ago it had felt so good just being near her. His eyes shifted to Luis who he noticed was thoughtfully watching Evelyn and this only made him all the more uncomfortable. He cleared his throat and looked away, figuring he may as well make the most of this night. He didn't want any tempers flaring in his friends home. As he glanced over he noticed Maria glancing between him and Evelyn slightly confused and he simply smiled at her. As he looked away he frowned again and shrugged ever so slightly, allowing one of the butlers to fill his glass with red wine. When the man moved away Eric began to fill his plate, hoping to eat quickly so that he could get back home and sleep off the rest of the day.*

Evelyn looked to Will as he spoke to her and she gave him a smirk and lifted a brow. "Aw, only once in a while? Well then I guess there goes MY plan 'f permanantly making this my home, wouldn' want ta burden ye with seein' my face all the time." She said as she gave Will a wink. She had begun to ease up a bit, but the tension felt everytime she glanced Eric's way was just BARELY tolerable.
Evelyn looked up at Eric and actually met his gaze for a moment and she decided she might as well make amends, I mean, she'll be here all night probably and besides...deep down she KNEW she didn't want to leave Port Royale with him just hating her, and with that Evelyn smiled. " 'Ello Eric." She said as she gave a deep sigh. There, she said it. Besides, it had always been HER to have to make ANY moves with him anyway.
Suddenly Maria spoke and drew her attention. "Aye, 's good ta see ye Maria." She smiled. Just then her friend stood and reached out to shake Evy's hand. "Hehe, a charmin' fellow ain't he?" Evelyn asked Maria giving him a wink. " 'M Evelyn Pearl mate. Ye can just call me Eve though. A friend o' Maria's then are ye Chris? Well then that automatically puts ye on MY good side. An' bloody sit down lad!" Evelyn teased as he slowly took his seat again.
Luis had been watching Evelyn carefully and returned to thoughts of his mission. His whole purpose here would be to get information out of her. She would be his key to the map and maybe more. As he spied her give Eric a smile he groaned a bit and cursed under his breath. NO, he HAD to keep the tension between the two. Or at least keep them from getting TOO comfortable with one another again. At least until they made off.
"And I am Luis." Luis spoke abruptly as he introduced himself to Chris. His dark eyes shot to Eric every once and again, sort of watching to see where his eyes would linger. "Eve, you should try this wine, its excellent..." Luis suddenly stated as he took the wine from the servant's hands and personally. He would need to work HARD to gain Evy's full trust again, and he doubted he'd have too much time to do this.
Evelyn blinked at this kind offer and she bit her lip a bit. "Er, thanks mate." She said offering a timid smile then taking a sip of the wine. As she noted Eric loading his plate she too made to put various things upon her plate. This would be a LONG dinner indeed, but hopefully, it wouldn't be TOO unpleasant...

Sarah entered the kitchens to see Elizabeth and a maid working busily on dinner. Sarah greeted Elizabeth with a hug. How are you Liz? Is there anything I could help with? Sarah then stuck a bit of her finger in a sauce to sample it. Mmm, delicious Liz, absolutely delicious

*Carrie felt her stomach give a growl and she moved around in her seat uncomfortably. Everyone seemed to get along great and be chattering away. She got up and said* "Excuse me, I think I'll just see what's going on about the kitchen area. I'll be back soon." *Carrie went into the kitchen and saw a slightly fimiliar looking girl and Mrs. Turner around a pot of soup.* "'ello, I know that neither of ye know me, but I was wondering if maybe I could help back here. I'm not much for the big crowd around the table. If ye remember my name's Carrie."

*Joseph gave a sigh of relief as Tobbs consented to follow him. He gestured for Hermo to follow and began to head for a tavern nearby. As he walked down the streets, he somewhat could blend in with the gentlemen around him. While he wasn’t in a top hat and didn’t have a cane, he wore kaki colored breeches, a deep sea blue jacket that had short sleeves and was went halfway down to his knees, black boots, and a clean white colored shirt that had long sleeves. His sandy brown hair tossed about as a breeze passed by and he beckoned Tobbs towards “The Royale’s Tavern”, indicating it as their destination.*
*When they entered, he led her over to a free table and left Hermo to stand by the door. Joseph ordered some rum for the lady and himself, then quickly got to the point as he noted her bored expression.*
“Thanks for coming down here Vic-… Miss Brighton I mean.”
“No need fer thanks, just get to the point.”
“Alright…well, I know you’ve had a troubled past, and it might not be too pleasant to remember, but I need to know about a man…”
*By now Tobbs had completely avoided drinking anything and her attention was rather exactly focused on him. Her eyes had narrowed and he could tell she wasn’t going to take this so easily, but he had to try.*
“I need to know if you have any information on the man…you see, he’s-”
“Just give me ‘is name, savvy?”
“Sure, sure….um, his real name is Sean Nathan Carver, but most people refer to him as-”
*Before he could finish, Tobbs had, in an instant, leaned forward, grabbed his collar, and dragged his upper body almost over the table towards her. Hermo looked over and began to quickly make his way to the table as Tobbs spoke.*
“Snakes…” She hissed angrily. “Don’ touch a ‘air on ‘is ‘ead, the trash is mine to claim!”
“I had no such intentions, I need some information from him, and you’d know where he is!”
“Trust me when I say ‘e’d be DEAD if I knew where ‘e was.”
”Listen…I know he served you some sort of injustice, but-”
“Injustice? You ‘ave no idea what I went through because of that, that, gah, and I intend to repay the ‘INJUSTICE’ when I see ‘im next.”
“But maybe if you knew why-“
“LISTEN closely, who ever you are! I won’t, hear me, WONT, take kindly to that man, nor ‘is Friends and family, so you best be getting’ that kind of nonsense OUT of yer mind, or I’ll assume you aren’ just some man with questions, DO YOU GET WHAT I’M SAYING? Or should I make things CLEARER for ye?”
*Joseph now noticed the feel of cold metal on his skin and he winced as he felt it cut his skin a bit. He saw Hermo come over and he was about to speak up again, but was cut off by Tobbs….yet again, might he add…*
“The only business I know of Snakes is that ‘e’s a main target for my blades, savvy? Now I think we’re through…”
*She stood quickly and began making her way for the door. Joseph motioned Hermor to stay still, and he called out after her above the chatter of the crowd.*
”Victoria, I mean, Miss Brighton, or whatever you’d like me to call you…..just listen….he knows where my big brother is, he knows who killed my mother, alright? I can’t not know….”
*He noted Tobbs stopped and seemed to be in thought. He thought perhaps he’d found some sort of weakness, and if he’d known her thoughts, he would’ve regretted speaking out of sympathy. But life was life. She spun around and walked back to him, speaking solemnly and oddly quiet.*
”Listen….I’ll find the scum and ‘is crew, and I’ll ask them about yer family’s whereabouts before I finish them off….but I wouldn’t go ‘oping you’ll see the likes of those you love again…I’ve got to be going though, I’m needed elsewhere. Next time I’m ‘ere, I’ll wait for you in this tavern.”
*She began to head out again and he ran over to protest, grabbing a hold of her arm. When she sent him a cold glare he let go and slowly moved his arm away.*
”But I’m going with you, after all, the information could be confused or cut out or whatnot…”
“Listen, we don’ need more crew, especially one like yerself. And I ‘ope you aren’t saying I’m bad at something, because it wont do you any good to make assumptions. Now farewell whomever you are.”
”Its Joseph Car-…Mersough! Bye…I guess…”
*Telling the lady his last name was Carver might wind up getting himself killed, so he gave his mother’s maiden name and watched her leave into the streets. Sitting back down at the table he’d first chosen, he sipped at his mug and silently thought about what he could do about the whole situation….*

~~~
*The salty sea air, choked up by a thick fog, had a rather eerie chill to it as it swept through the streets of Tortuga. While the growing night produced lurking shadows and cold winds, the merry laughter and drunken chatter of the citizens and visitors still roamed about most of the city. One quieter section, just beyond a backstreet and in view of the docks, held a comforting spot for a group of men that made camp around a cozy fire. They were of course not strangers to Tortuga, but found that inns were rather noisy and a bit of distance from the crazed parts would always save one from losing something to a thief.*
*While they talked of some sort of random subject such as rum, or women, or weapons, a leaf snapped just to the right of the group, causing the group’s parrot to squawk loudly. As if the alarm of the bird was a target for attacking, a huge hawk flew out from the trees and swept up the parrot in its claws, flying above the group and digging its nails into it, causing it to crush beneath its grasp. As the bird finally subdued its screams of pain, the hawk dropped it to the ground before the leader of the group and flew over to where it came from, perching itself on a human figure that was shadowed by the trees. The man was leaning on a barrel as the group leader stood to his feet in curiosity.*
”You, there. My first mate says you owe me a parrot. Now how about we swap? One dead bird for that Hawk of yours so I can cage it up and teach it some manners?”
*At this the hawk gave a piercing cry and in an instant had knocked the man over, pecking at his eyes as he called out in pain. The others pulled out weapons to shoot the bird, but the stranger’s demanding voice rose above the confusion and calls for help, sending everything to a halt.*
”Cruentus, cease. Expectos pro tempus; expectos signum!”
*At this, Cruentus, who seemed to be the hawk, flew up silently and perched on his master’s shoulder as he still stood in the shadows. The leader sat up slowly and the sides of his eyes were cut and showed streams of crimson red. His voice was full of commanding but somewhat quaked in fear.*
”What devilry words do you speak, stranger?”
*A crew mate whispered into the leader’s ears as they helped him up.*
”So you speak the ancient tongues, he says? Well ghost, what do you want with us? Why will you not show yourself?”
*With a mocking laugh, the man emerged from the shadows, an evil smirk set firmly upon his face. His gaze was piercing, and no man could look him straight in his shadowy grey eyes as he stood before them. About 6’3 in height and having a definite noticeable muscular build, he, while being intimidating, was quite handsome. The fire set a glow upon his dark black hair, the dark brown bits barely seen in it. A small sea shell earring could be seen hanging from his right ear, bits of gold engraving in it glimmering in the glow of the flames. His chest was covered by a cream colored shirt, slitting down to reveal a bit more of his tan skin. A crimson red sash hung about his waist over black breeches, and he wore a black waist coat that ended in short sleeves. While he was probably deemed either a pirate, or an assassin, he wore clean clothes and non scuffed boots, having a certain cocky way about him, but overall a definite tough stance.*
”Ancient tongues, you say? I speak Latin, and am no ghost; haunting would be too much of an easy escape for you.”
*A laugh escaped some of the men brave enough to make a move, and the sound of loading guns and rising blades against sheaths did not go unknown in the man’s senses. His grin grew further and he spoke again, pointed more towards the leader of the group than the others.*
”I’ve come to find some information. You’ve sailed with one known as TopSword, aye?”
”Well, what’s in it fer us?”
Your lives, most likely, if you value them any….highly unlikely by the looks of it…”
*A growl escaped some of their lips.*
”Foolish stranger, there are more of us, than you! Come on then, MAKE me tell you, we’ll get to ask you if your life has any value then!”
*As the men all drew their weapons, two of them shot pistols, and as if lightning had struck the stranger into action, double knives were in his hand and had blocked the bullets and bounced them back into a man in the middle. He fell down dead as the others trampled forward to strike, and Cruentus flew from his shoulder and dug his claws into a man’s head, using his beak and his strength against the man enough to make him wail. The hawk’s master had ducked a cutlass swing and twisted beneath a man’s feet, plunging his blades into his back and jumping back up quickly. He elbowed one man in the face and made a blow to his stomach as he shred a man’s wrist off to the right, noting the leader’s stance had not moved from where he first had been as he watched the fight. Using the man he’d hit in the stomach as a stool, he stepped up on his back and flipped over the last standing man, slitting his throat from behind him. In an instant he had the leader on the ground beside the man whom had fallen prey to the hawk, the bloody blades against his throat and the stranger’s face just before his.*
”Alright alright, Tis that Brighton woman you’re looking for? I sailed with her before; she was on a ship by the captain’s orders in a trade. She…she was last heard of commandeering a ship and arriving in Port Royale, that’s all I got, that’s it. P-please, I’ve told you all I know, I beg ye, I’ve got a fam-”
“Oh spare me, yer not earning anything with the whole groveling effec’, doesn’ do a bloody thing. The question is, will I let you choose between yer endings? I could always finish you off quick…or let Cruentus handle ye. What say you?”
”Have mercy, please good sir, mercy for a-“
”Good sir? Well that won’t do, I guess the hawk will get his revenge, eh? And, as a side note…I wasn’ giving you a choice ta begin with….savvy?”
*With a menacing expression, he stood and gave Cruentus a nod, watching as the bird gave another piercing cry as it began to tear the leader slowly apart. He really did enjoy this line of work, he thought to himself…just another day, and definitely more clues to the ones he planned revenge on….but little did he know he was being watched in the shadows by another as well…..*
*Elizabeth woke moodily when she heard someone knocking at the door. She groaned softly and closed her eyes again, forgetting completely about the dinner and focusing more on her want to sleep.*
"Elizabeth, dear me you must be getting ready miss! The company's started to arrive, and Master Will is with them! Come come now, let's get you ready."
*Sitting up quickly, Elizabeth gasped in suprise on how quickly time had gone by. She went over to Estrella and began getting changed, thinking about the guests and the dinner preparations.*
"Not so tight tonight, I'm feeling a bit ill and sore, might not be a good idea Estrella."
*The maid gave her a smile and a nod and tied the rest of the back of the dress up, helping as she did her hair and made final adjustments. When all was ready, the two made their way to the kitchen unnoticed and began setting the meals into plates. When Eric came in, she hugged him in return and smiled at his nod of approval. Then, hearing Sarah's voice, she gave a delighted hug to the friend and looked towards the food.*
"We've been working on it all day, now we've just got to bring it all in! But some of the maids can do so, no need to keep ourselves in the kitchen...I'm well, though I've been a bit sore of late, and sleepy....perhaps I'm growing ill? And right before our trip! But could be because I'm restless is all, I just need more sleep! What about you? I hear you brought a friend?"
*When Carrie came in, she gave a nod in greeting and listened to the name.*
"Carrie? I don't think we've met. I'm Elizabeth, Will's wife, and this is Sarah, a good friend of mine. I seem to be needing to meet half of the crew as I haven't been introduced to them before, but that should all fill tonight's events. I'm expecting it to be quite the evening! But enough chitchat, we should get into the dining hall. The food's being served already!"
*She followed behind those who brought the food in and watched them set it all on the table. Sending Will a smile, she ushered Sarah and Carrie over to a seat, as she was heading back for the kitchen.*
"You two enjoy yourselves, tell me what you thought of the food when you're done! I'll be in the kitchen if you need me."
*Entering again and taking a seat in a chair, she rested her chin in her hand and watched as the pies finished cooking for dessert. While she wanted to be apart of the dinner with the others, she decided that perhaps when dessert came around she'd join them; she wasn't that hungry, so it didn't bother her much to help finish the food.*
*Tobbs half expected to run into that Joseph man again as she made her way down the streets. What the bloody hell did he want anyway? His family was probably dead, he had to know that, or was there something he wasnt telling her? No matter, she'd find Snakes and ask, that's all she 'd sworn she'd do.*
*When she didn't note any of the crew in the streets, she half assumed they'd be at the Turners for some reason, and so she made her way there. Nodding at the doorman when he allowed her entrance, she was led to the dining hall and she smiled when she saw most of the crew was there. The food had just been served, and she made her way to a free seat next to Carrie and Sarah.*
*Pausing in mid stride when she saw Evy with another man, her brow rose in curiosity to find out whom the visitor was. She glanced across towards Eric's direction and wondered what the man was thinking, then spoke up just behind Evy and Luis, not catching the man's face yet.*
"Evy! Who's the luckeh man you've brought with ye? As long as there's no shouts and angry yellings on board to wake me up, I say bring 'im with us; after all, that's my job, remember?"
*She grinned teasingly when Evy turned a bit to see her, but it soon faded when she caught the site of Luis's face. She furrowed her brows and held herself back from tackling the man then and there, sending him one of her infamous icy glares that could scare away some of the bravest men. She clenched her fists and rose an arm to ready a hard punch to his face, but at seeing Evy's glance towards her she lowered it and muttered to him.*
"What's 'E doing 'ere? Feh...not worth a punch anyway...."
*She drew herself clsoer to his ear and whispered only enough so he could hear what she said. Evy had told her a bit about her past, and she heard a bit about the man named Luis. This must have been him.*
"You try and 'urt 'er, I'll make it so I won' just kill ye, it'll be slow....very slow....and it'll be a whole lot of pain and torture....so watch yerself buddeh, because I'm watching you closely...."
*She, unnooticed by anyone else, kicked him in his shin and walked away with a smile upon her lips once more. Seating herself close to Evy and Sarah and Carrie, she sent the two a nod in greeting.*
"Hullo to the both of ye, 'ow 'ave ya been? And Evy, 'ow's the food? I 'ear it's to DIE for..."
*At the last bit she sent a smirk to Luis, making sure to appear innocent afterwards to everyone else. This was definitely going to be a night to remember.*
Post by Selina on Aug 4, 2004 11:01:42 GMT -5
Selina woke from her slumber when the cry of "Land HO!" broke the evening's silence. The crew had been tending to regular duties but little was needed to keep the ship staying on plain course towards Tortuga for they had encountered a steady wind and due to this, Selina had felt a bit flustered from the warm air. Besides, she had had a good meal, courtesy of a short meeting with the Captain Barbossa himself, who always seemed to feed his guests rather well, and the warm air and the full stomach had left Selina feeling VERY comfortable.
Selina woke and shook out her mane of dark, ebony, curls. She ran a hand through her hair and placed on her boots, she sheathed her sword, and gave a yawn. Selina did the usual of giving a soft prayer as she woke, and then made certain all her jewelry was in its rightful place. She had had two incidents already involving missing rings and she wasn't about to loose anything else. This crew was a rough one and if she didn't remain on top of things she would most likely become the target yet again of their sick little game of "Touch the Spanish Wench".
Her green eyes scanned over the seas as she came up and for once no squinting was needed to stare into the distance. The sun had long since been fading and melting into the horizon causing only strong pinks, and oranges to graze the skies, but there was also a very eerie fog about the island today. Selina gave a smirk as they neared the island. "Tortuga..." She said softly. There were a few orders barked by a very disgruntled sounding man and she knew instantly it to belong to Barbossa. She turned her head towards him quickly and gave him but a solemn nod.
As they docked Selina found herself cleaning her nails a bit, it had been a long time since they had returned to this rock. It had been her home for a long time before she had joined Barbossa's crew almost a year ago. The murky waters below gave a sick presumption that things were dumped there that weren't necessarily all that sanitary. She cringed a bit and flipped her hair over her shoulder before she approached Barbossa a bit. "I shall return soon then. Try not to get yourself into too much trouble, alright?" Selina told him with a sly smile and a wink, she gently slapped his shoulder, and then disappeared into the evening's sun and the misty fog that enveloped the island, turning all its inhabitants into mere silouhettes of ghosts and blurry figures.
Finding her way around the island quite well she seemed to be heading nowhere in particular really. She just seemed to be following her own instincts and that led her into darkened, if they COULD be any darker really, alleys and broken cobbled paths that led to rocky island. A few pistol shots would sound every now and again, a sign of the never ending raucous here on the island and Selina smiled. Wenches and their 'mates' passed her by on the streets, some looked her over rather hungrily, but a deadly glance in their direction turned them away.
Finally, after winding her way about the island she heard warm chatter and was drawn towards the glow of a warm fire nearby. It was just beyond a backstreet, and from here Selina could faintly make out their ship and the docks. As she was about to emerge from the shadows she paused as a hawk flew from seemingly nowhere and attacked the man in the center of it all. Selina took a step back, something was to take place, she could feel it. Her hand gripped the hilt of her sword and she did not fear, but there was a heavy, thick, feeling in the air. It was the feeling one got before some sort of evil thing took place.
Her green eyes flickered as she finally saw the man who was causing the trouble. Selina looked him over curiously, lifting a brow, and having her green eyes scan him over from heat to boot. He was a tall one, strong in build, and also in character. He had dark hair, dark defined brows, and he was a strong looking individual. Not to mention, incredibly handsome, and he appealed to her instantly. In the soft glow of the fire she could make out his skin was kissed by the Caribbean sun and she walked slowly in the cover of darkness to attempt to get a better look at him.
As Selina mulled the past horrific, yet, quite entertaining events over in her mind she decided an attempt to recruit this man would suit the crew. Better to have a man like this on THEIR side than anyone else's she thought. And besides, he had mentioned Tobbs. Selina furrowed her brow and pondered telling him that she knew of her but she knew not exactly WHY he sought her out and the wrong words concerning her would have her in trouble with him indeed.
Running a hand smoothly through her dark tresses Selina spoke up, still in the cover of the shadows. "You are a strong force of a man. I give you my compliments. Not too harsh on the eyes either." Selina said, her voice sounding like honey, her spanish accent coming through plainly. " I have never heard an English man speak the old tongue before, you must be educated. That is a rare thing." Selina leaned against a tree, still peering out at him.
"Yet such a strong, intelligent force you seem and I have yet to have heard your name. Who are you?" Selina asked him as she lifted a brow. A hand still was placed firmly about her hilt, if she had to she wouldn't hesitate to take this man down, although killing him would be QUITE a shame, as he did seem like a man at least worth having in one's corner.
Evelyn had begun to dig into her plate of food eagerly when Tobb's familiar voice chimed in. Eve dropped her fork almost instantly and turned in her chair a bit. "Tobbs, mate! I was beginnin' ta wonder where'd ye gone off to." She told her swallowing a bit of the roasted chicken she had stuffed in her mouth. As Tobbs asked her about the 'lucky man' Evelyn gave a confused grin really. Taking a glance at Eric she almost sought him to say something in protest. As she mentioned shouts to wake her up Eve gave an awkward laugh, trying to recooperate from the small tension felt at Tobbs' words.
"Haha...no, this one isn' much of a yeller I s'ppose." Eve said with a bright smile turning to Luis and giving him a pat on the shoulder. "An' aye, I wouldn' want ta rob ye of yer job now would I?" Eve asked Tobbs giving her a wink. As Tobbs' tone suddenly changed however Evelyn furrowed her brows. She feared something like this might happen. At her words Eve shook her head. " 'E's a changed man Tobbs. 'E wouldn' do that ta me 'gain, besides, I already told 'im he'd be tossed overboard quicker than he could say Spain if he touched me again." Evelyn said giving Luis a playful wink.
As Tobbs spoke up Luis smiled broadly. Already he was getting referred to as the 'lucky one'. He stretched a bit and looked up at Tobbs as she came in, however when she saw his face she was clearly not happy and he could guess Evelyn had told her about him. "Hello Tobbs, I am Luis. Very pleased to meet your acquaintance. Any friend of Evelyn's is a dear friend of mine." He answered with a charming grin but Tobbs only bent towards his ear and gave him what he SUPPOSED was a threat.
As she left his side he gave a soft chuckle and shook his head. As he gave her a strong kick in the shin he gritted his teeth a bit and bit his lip and glared at Tobbs. She would be trouble for him, he knew. Looking ahead to Eric he caught his gaze and gave him a smirk. "It seems the WOMEN of this 'circle of friends' seem to have the most sand of the lot, aye?" Luis asked giving Eric a bit of a wink. Then with a yawn Luis managed to stretch his arms and laid his arm to rest across the back of Evelyn's chair. He relished in these small acts he was getting away with. Soon enough, he would be getting away with the map and perhaps, much more. Looking to Eric he only gave him a snide grin and winked.
Evelyn remained rather oblivious to the small things going on about her, for she had been so hungry that she had been stuffing her face half the time. Still as Tobbs spoke again Eve looked up. "Damn righ' Tobbs!" Evelyn said brightly but then swallowed and looked about. "Er, I mean...right Tobbs. Actually, the chicken's VERY good if I do say so myself, bu'...if ye ask me..." As Eve spoke she leaned forward towards Tobbs and beckoned her close. "A bit o' rum makes the entire meal REALLY worht it." She said and took out her flask and poured a bit of rum over her chicken. She looked to Luis. "Luis mate, would ye like some?" She asked.
Luis suddenly was brought back to reality, he had been looking at Evelyn very carefully, letting his eyes dance over her face. "Yes, indeed. I'd love some, Evy." He answered as she leaned over closely to pour the rum carefully over his chicken. "I had almost forgotten how resourceful you were Evy, never DID try chicken with rum." He told her as he looked the chicken over a bit disgusted really. Luis was a proper man, he had never been fond of rum really, to him it was the drink of infidels.
"Ah, really? Well yer in for a treat then, it gives it the right kick really." She answered giving him a wink. "Oy! Tobbsy, would ye pass the gravy there?" Evelyn asked as he nodded at the glass container carrying the gravy. Suddenly as Tobbs reached for it a voice came from behind and Eve turned abruptly. "Miss, I have a small bit here if you..."
But as Eve turned her elbow made contact with the glass container that held the gravy. The gravy spilt all over the servant and Eve bit her lip. "Ah, bloody 'ell! I'm sorry mate...here let me get tha'..." Eve said as she bent over to pick up the pieces of the broken container. Just as she made to pick it up however, another maid went rushing by and gave a loud yelp as she tripped over Eve's crouched body and fell, crashing to the ground with a large plate of extra chicken in her hands. Eve blinked and looked up. "Argh...sorry there..." Eve stated as she made to assist that woman as well. Her cheeks turned a bit crimson as she was told it was alright.
Evelyn took her seat once again and cleared her throat. "Well, that was interestin'," she said as she gave a hearty laugh.
Elizabeth then ushered Sarah and Carrie into the dining room. Sarah was worried about her friend, but decided to talk to her later. She took a seat in between Maria and Hawk. At hearing such a voice as Selina's, the man had half a mind to give her his full attention. But he refrained himself from moving, keeping his eyes still towards the seas where he had been nonchalantly gazing out to in thought. He spoke in an arrogant yet charming tone, pondering over her first words and replying with ease.*
"Compliments? So soon? And I have yet to request a night out for dinner my lady."
*He gazed up as she spoke on his knowledge involving latin, facing the direction of her voice as she was somewhat hidden in the shadows. His brow rose in curiosity over this mysterious lady, wondering whom she was and what business she had involving him. Or perhaps she was just a coplimenting spectator?*
"As it is rare to see one so far away from the taverns and inns of this place, especially when it happens to be a woman. But you aren't like a wench I suppose....then again you hide in the shadows, and I know not of what you look like but judge by your voice, so I can' seem to deem such a thing as that just yet."
*He somewhat gave thought on mentioning his name to the lady or not, wondering what kind of person she was to inquire without addressing her own. Well, after all, if she posed some sort of threat he could always rid of her easily as he had done the others. He didn't know who she was, or what kind of threat she could impose...but he didn't doubt his own skills could match hers.*
"I'm known as Carver, Michael Carver to be exact. You go unknown to me as well, and if the shadows hide you for as long as we speak, then I shall come to know you as the mysterious lady. Or would you offer me a name in return?"
Selina's smile grew gradually. Not only was this man rather handsome, he was charming as well, even if a comment he made had bothered her a bit. She gave a small laugh. Selina remained in the shadows. "Offering to buy me dinner then? Well, that is more than I can say for MOST men I have met. It seems you also posess manners, a surprise really, considering your rather, er...'rough' appearence." She said as she ran a hand through her hair.
"Haha, a wench you say? CLEARLY you know not whom you talk to, I am a woman that has perfected her craft, not a wench...merely...a woman who KNOWS to achieve what it is she desires." She spoke, her words sliding off her tongue delicately. Her green eyes glanced him over again, pondering wether to do with him as she had done to so many before her, but she decided against it. He would be an excellent addition to their crew and she knew it. She would have to tread carefully and put on her charms if she was to lure him to voyage with them.
As he spoke again Selina gave a soft chuckle that contrasted greatly with the harsh crackle of the fire. "Mysterious Lady? Quite tempting to leave it at that. Perhaps I SHOULD simply leave you with but my voice in your mind, but such torture for you is not necessary, seeing as how at the moment you have not yet offended me enough for me to do this to you." She told him as she gave a deep sigh and stepped out of the shadows. "I am Selina Carcassas. Very pleased to meet you Mr. Carver." Selina said slowly as she stretched out her hand to his.
"You're handsome, a charmer, I'll give you that, but that is NOT the reason I am being so...'friendly' at the moment, so do not get any ideas." She stated frimly looking into his eyes briefly and then tearing them away. "Tell me, Mr. Carver, are you a rogue? Are you attached to a ship?" She asked as she spread her ruby lips softly. The soft flicker of the fire dancing across her face.
