*Eric laid on the top bunk for what seemed like an age, just gazing at the ceiling and fondling the rings. Then he peered over the edge of the bunk and eyed Will with an odd look.* So this is the ship and crew you wrote to me about eh? *He asked, then laid back down.* Honestly I dont know how you put up with some of them. *he quickly added.*[/color]
*Will raised his brow as his blonde friends head suddenly appeared from over the edge of the bunk. Then he laughed and nodded as it dissapeared again.* This is the ship, and thats the Captain. But this isnt the same crew I had known. *He said, then rose to his feet and leaned his elbows on the top bunk.* And honestly...I dont know how theyre gonna put up with you. *He said and wandered out of the cabin and back to the deck. He glanced over at Rose and then up to Eveyln in the crows nest before sitting down on the railing, holding onto a rope for support. He couldnt help but smile. He loved Port Royal and he loved being a husband but sometimes he felt like there was something missing. And at the moment he felt that void was filled.*

Roux's eyes caught sight of Will and Eric talking. He could hear them, guess what they were speaking of, but again, in his silent way, said nothing.
Instead he turned his eyes towards the ocean and began drawing. First it was only a lot of meaningless lines. then waves and seagulls began to form. A seascape of sorts. A sun and some rumbling thunder clouds. He smiled, pleased with his accomplishment.

<OOC: Maria, mate, I'm sorry...I got kinda impatient, I really want to introduce my newest character, and I can't do that 'less you replied...so I NPCed you a bit, hope you don't mind ^^; If so, I'll edit it out!>
Rose caught Will's eye and grinned at him broadly. She hadn't seen him before, but she was never averse to meeting new people. She glanced then at Roux...there was something about the man, she wasn't quite sure what, but it had plagued her since she'd first met him. Shrugging it off, she glanced at Roux's drawing. "That's good..." she said in quiet, appreciative awe.
The girl replied that the ship was called the Black Pearl, and belonged to Jack Sparrow. She also said that she wasn't sure how long it would be at the port. Hawk nodded politely and thanked her for her help, and she left as Hawk examined the ship some more. The actual Black Pearl! What a marvelous vessel...the stories didn't do it credit...
He watched the young man from the shadows; though his face was blank, a grin danced in his eyes. Yes, he'd do quite nicely...not as a vessel, but as bait. It was obvious he wanted to get onto the Black Pearl...that happened to be the destination of the figure in the shadows as well. Quite convenient, really. Allowing himself a real grin, he flexed his fingers; it was time to place his plan into action.
Hawk suddenly heard someone behind him; whirling, he saw the outline of a young man running across the dock with Hawk's pistol in his hand.
Hawk yelped in rage. "Stop! Thief!" he cried out, running after the man. How'd he gotten so close to Hawk without him noticing? He must have gone soft after a year away from pirating. Cursing repeatedly, Hawk chased the young man - who was really an astoundingly fast runner - through a few alleys, then back onto the dock. There, he paused for breath, glancing towards the Black Pearl again...only to see the very man he'd been chasing run aboard.
Hawk groaned, then tore off after him, running aboard the Black Pearl. Maybe this was a bit too far to go just for a gun, but Hawk's pistol was one of his prized possessions; besides, no one robbed Hawk Aureye and got away with it! Fortunately, there weren't many people on board, and both he and the man were able to run past those who were without being noticed...hopefully.
Hawk chased the man into the very bottom storage cells of the Pearl. There, he stopped and looked around...no one was there. He could see no one, especially not the young man he'd chased into the room.
"Come out!" he roared, looking around the room. "I know you're - "
A hand clamped itself firmly around his mouth. "Shh," said a male voice softly, and Hawk instinctively knew that it was the young man he'd been chasing. He felt the man's other hand grab both of his arms to stop him from struggling, and he cursed a few times. "Do you want everyone to hear you? Calm down...I mean you no harm..."
Rose whirled as she heard something - or someone - pass by her and Roux. When she looked again, no one was there. "...Did you 'ear somethin', mate? Or is me 'earin' goin' at a young age?"

<Oh, good ^^; Imagine how sheepish I felt when I finished the post and saw you on the site...what a dolt I am *smacks self with herring*> Rose's eyes widened. "You saw 'im? Where?" She frowned curiously. "Don' think th' captain will approve of all these people comin' onto our ship...mother o' God...well, s'pose we better go look for 'im..."

But she stood behind a barrel of rum to be hidden from any one's site*

Evelyn looked around the decks curiously, beginning to forget completely about the incident from before...but not being able to truly get Eric out of her mind. Completely rude, arrogant, good for nothing. He was going to be trouble, she knew that. But as long as he kept his distance from her...she figured all would go well.
Evelyn's face was tanned from the days rays, but the day was winding down slowly, and splashes of orange and pink began to color the horizon. Looking down she noticed as Will came upon the decks. Her eyes set for a moment on Rose, then Roux...who seemed rather busy with some coal and parchment. Eve turned away, brushing a few curls from her face when she caught the trace of something odd. Something had boarded the ship, but she had been turned away before she could glimpse it.
Her brows furrowed as she looked over the side of the crows nest. Someone had come aboard. Maria rushed on and spoke with Rose, and soon the two headed down into the ships interior, they could handle it she supposed, if Maria couldn't, Rose would. It seemed the entire crew was a bit young, but somehow they managed.
Evelyn climbed carefully from the crow's nest and headed down upon the decks to take a seat on the very edge of the ship, upon the gunwalls. Her eyes peered downward at the cold waters below. Her eyes staring out as the docks' activities began to die down. A few soldiers peered her way, but did nothing. The sooner they left Port Royale, the better she would feel.

A tingle ran down Roux's spine and he glanced up. He smiled. So. Another player in this fun game then? He glanced around. He was near. His playmate of so many fun games was near.
he smiled when Rose commented on his drawing. He nodded: "Thank you. I'm not much of a artist. but I enjoy it. Keeps my mind busy."
hazel eyes darted around the ship once, twice. He could feel the source of this new player somewhere nearby. But he knew as well as roux knew himself, if he didn't want to be found, he wouldn't be. A shake of the head followed, and he continued drawing. No use troubling over things that could not be changed.

:Jack stood up as Koralyn and Linea walked in. he listened to them, then eyes Linea closly.:
"Aye. We could use a extra pair o' hands aboard. But mark my words ye steal from the crew on this ship, and I'll be droppin' you off on a island someplace without so much as a pistol, savvy?"
:Then he glanced at Koralyn: "Find her a bunk and get her settled in. We sail soon...once this one..." He jabbed a finger towards the wounded Tobbs: "is awake....."
:Then he gave the ladies a small bow: "Glad to have ye aboard...."

He heard someone coming down the stairs and released Hawk, in one swift motion. "We'll meet again, pirate," he promised in a whisper, then laughed, softly and cheerfully, before he disappeared.
Hawk couldn't believe it. The boy had disappeared! Completely vanished! Quickly, he checked his belt; his pistol was there. Mystified, he ran a hand through his hair. The entire day had been increasingly unlikely.
Rose followed Maria down into the storage room. While Maria hid behind a barrell, Rose twirled her gun between her fingers and approached the intruder head-on. "Oy! You there!" She pointed the gun at him carefully. "State your name an' reason for boardin' th' Black Pearl, mate."
Hawk jumped in surprise to see a dark-haired pirate lass pointing a gun at him. He held both hands up in surrender. "'m sorry," he protested, slipping into the accent he'd picked up in his years at sea. "Didn't really mean t'come aboard...kinda odd story..." Suddenly, as if it had never happened, he could feel the events of the afternoon, his meeting with the strange lad, slipping out of his head.
Hawk frowned and shook his own. "Anyway...me name's...Hawk." He didn't give his alias; for some reason, he trusted this girl. She didn't look like the type to kill for pleasure. "I...can't for th' life of me think what I'm doin' here." He shrugged, looking sheepish. "I may not look like it, but I'm a pirate...'ve sailed th' sea since I was a kid." He pointed to the earring in his ear, the one part of him that didn't look presentable.
Slowly, Rose lowered her pistol. She was a good judge of human character, and she found herself liking this lad - Hawk, was it? He reminded her of the captain...even looked like him a bit, with the dark hair and chocolate-coloured eyes. But he did seem confused, poor kid, and he looked to be about her age. "Right, then, mate...follow me." She slipped her pistol into her belt. "We're gonna take you to th' captain...an' see what 'e thinks of you." She gently pulled Maria to her feet from behind the barrell and gestured to her. "This 'ere's Maria, an' I'm Rose. Good to meetcha, Hawk...now 'urry, we're prolly settin' sail soon."
"Ah, it's you." Hawk grinned at Maria, bowing elegantly to her, then winking. It was good to see a familiar face in all this confusion...he took up step behind Rose on their way up.
"You know 'im?" Rose inquired Maria curiously. "Well, 'e seems like a decent lad...I saw all those weapons, an' that earring, an' I can tell 'e can take care of 'imself." She grinned, then added, "Doesn't 'e remind you of th' cap'n, a bit?"
Meanwhile, on deck, a tiny wind began to blow around Roux. A shimmer appeared in the air, followed by a figure only he could see. It was the figure of the same young man that Hawk had chased; this time, he was floating in the air, hovering. The source of his flight was apparent - he wore winged sandals. His helmet also had wings; he was dressed in a short, cream-coloured toga-type garment. His hair was golden brown, his eyes the colour of honey, his face flawlessly handsome. His lips were stretched wide in a grin as he twirled his long staff from hand to hand.
"Well, cousin, I see you're enjoying yourself here..." the Greek god Hermes laughed lightly. "Ready for a fellow immortal to join you yet?"

Roux peered up at Hermes and smiled: "Causing trouble so early in the day. I would think the plight of mortals was beyond you, cousin of mine."
A smile raced across Roux's features and he shook his head. "You're coming for the lady too then? Her power? As if you're not god of enough already?"
but he was smiling and he nodded: "The captain of this ship is a clever man. I've no doubt that in time he will find you. it's easier to be in flesh and blood on a ship, then flying about as you are now."
Roux had always been rather fond of being in a human body. Less attention. Stll. He looked much as he did as a immortal. Maybe a bit short then in his immortal form. And besides. Life as a human was fun.

Hermes looked mortally offended. "The plight of mortals, beyond me? How can you insinuate such a thing?" He grinned again. "With a father like mine, you'd think I'd know better...alas, I am still young and such a troublemaker. Mother despairs of me."
His grin grew as Roux grinned. "Well...you might say I've a personal interest in the matter. Not me myself, but my brother...Apollo...you know he's god of seers, and he has ever so much on his plate lately...so I'm here partially for him...and partially for Father. He does take such an interest in the doings of this man, Jack Sparrow. I'm to try and keep him safe. And yes, of course, I'm curious to see the lady...and to meet the man who interests the great gods so."
Hermes executed a few lazy loop-de-loops. "Don't worry...you're the only one who can see me. The whole crew will think you're crazy, talking to thin air..." His lazy grin grew yet again, until it seemed his face would split with mirth. "Sparrow hasn't seen through you yet, though...and I am so much better at disguise than you." His playful grin suddenly turned thoughtful. "You know I've lured his son on board. You'll meet him soon enough...you know his sister already. Ah, if there was ever a family that needed my patronage, 'tis the Sparrows..."
Hermes didn't seem to notice how much he was talking. Being the patron god of merchants, he tended to have the tongue of one; his speeches were often long-winded, but he was so charismatic that it didn't matter how long he talked; he always had something interesting to say.
"So, what say you, coz? Mind any company? Of course, I'll have to think of a plausible way to come aboard..."

Roux rolled his eyes.
"of course Apollo would want to become involved. The man sees to much as it is. you'd think he'd find some other soul to trouble."
At the mention of Jack's son he became more interested: "really now? Another Sparrow? The gods must not know what they're dealing with. I've seen this Jack Sparrow alone. He's mad enough for even Ares."
"I'd enjoy your company of course. keep in mind you don't ct like some dim witted pigeon and go flying about the rigging, causing as much confusion as possible."
He waved a casual hand towards the ropes. "find a suitable form to take and behave yourself for just long enough till w'ere out to sea. I don't think Jack would throw you overboard then, but you just never know. You are so damned long winded and stupid sometimes."
His eyes laughed as much as he did outloud. "Go. find a body that will please you enough to keep it's form and I will get you onboard."

Post by Captain Morgan Barbossa on May 20, 2004 21:08:18 GMT -5
"Who are you?"
:: Damien narrowed his eyes. He was beginning to grow uneasy under the other man's relentless stare. He couldn't remember the last time his usual air of confidence had abandoned him as it had now. Just for a moment, he felt as if he were the same as everyone else in the tavern. Their equal....::
::But he knew better::
"Well?" ::he pressed again. The other man still had not spoken::
::There was something about the man's accent that revealed he was a forgeiner. Southern Europe, perhaps. Barbossa wondered what he looked like behind that hood, but didn't press him to show his face just yet. If he was to pull this off, he would need to win the man's trust before he could win his purse. He sat back in his chair, finally ready to speak::[/i]
"Me name be Derek Gassel." ::he said, smiling:: "I be a merchant trader outta the Spanish port o' Cuernavaca, shippin' rum an' spices mostly." ::The lies flowed easily enough for the pirate captain. Everyone in the Caribbean believed Captain Barbossa was dead, and he wasn't ready to risk revealing the truth until he was sure he could secure a deal with this man. He gave his best impression of an amiable smile under his hood before continuing:: "Ye see, I ran into a bit o' bad luck just off th' coast o' Greenford a few weeks back. Pirates attacked me ship an' crew, destroyed me cargo, sunk me pride an' joy and left 'er ta rot at the bottom o' the sea. I was lucky ta escape with me life, an' now I'm here, lookin' fer a new ship an' a crew ta run 'er." ::He sat back in his chair, watching the face of this strange man across from him. Throughout the whole story, he hadn't betrayed even a hint of emotion::
"Is that so?" :: Damien asked slowly. It was obvious that this story was a fake. He had a sort of "sixth sense" about people, and he knew better than to trust this man so easily:: "If you're story is indeed true, Mr. Gassel, then I presume you are looking to find yourself a ship here in this tavern?"
::The pirate sensed the suspicion behind this man's words, and frowned:: "Ye presume correctly, me friend. In fact, I was hopin' that per'aps ye might be willin' ta help me out...?" ::Nothing. Sighing, Barbossa pulled his hood back enough to reveal his face before letting it fall back into place. He saw the man flinch slightly, but whether it was from recognition or simply disgust he couldn't tell::
"I see.... Would you care to take a walk, Mister Gassel? It is a beautiful evening, and the moon is exceptionally bright."
::He nodded, and they slowly rose and walked out. Barbossa noticed that the eyes of the taverners were watching them leave, and he shook off the sense of danger he was beginning to feel. He checked to make sure his sword and pistol were still easily accessible, just in case...::
::The man lead him down a deserted alley before suddenly halting in front of him. Barbossa raised an eyebrow, waiting for something to happen::
"I know who you are. I recognize your face.... Captain Barbossa, if I'm not mistaken?" ::A fleeting smile passed on Damien's face::
::The lump in Barbossa's throat dislodged itself long enough for himto let out a soft chuckle. He pulled back his hood and let it hang behind him:: "Captain Barbossa ain' naught but a legend now, mate. He died a year ago."
::It was now the strange man's turn to laugh::
"Then we may have more in common than you think. Now, about this little matter of a ship.... I myself am very well-known amoungst the traders here, and it would not be difficult to procure a vessel to serve your purposes, Captain." :: Damien paused for a moment, choosing his words carefully::
"If my memory serves me, you are well aqcainted with one Jack Sparrow, are you not?"
::Barbossa froze. He was suddenly very uncomfortable under the piercing gaze of those violet eyes::
"Per'aps...why d'ye care?"
"Let's just say I have some... unfinished business with him. If I am to help you, I want something in return." ::He paused:: "I want to come with you. I want to find Sparrow."
"So...do we have an accord, Captain Barbossa?"

* Maria watched carefully at the situation they were in when Rose had pulled her pistol out. She grinned suspecting she would do that. But in the means Rose had seemed to trust him and so she pulled Maria out from behind the barrel. * " 'course i know 'im.... Saw 'im not too long ago, by th' docks..." * Rose then compared him to Jack, and one quick study she found it to be true. He was almost spittin' image of him...* " 'e does..." * She said grinning amazed at the resemblance*
