In every large city, especially the less respectable ones like our dear old Tortuga, there are places where fighters meet to test themselves against each other. As friends,as enemies,or just as two people in search of a challenge, people have come together in these places for centuries.
The scene is a dank alleyway in the slums of Tortuga. One wall is formed by a long-abandoned inn,and the other by a cheap tavern. The sounds of drunken song and reckless brawling are easily recognizable from this building, and light from its windows flickers across the alley.
A few people are gathered around a circle painted on the ground in white, some holding torches to light the way, some holding drinks from next door, all cheering on the combatants inside.
Do you have what it takes to claim victory against Tortuga's *cough* finest?
~RULES~ 1.Stay in character 2.You may challenge anyone to a fight. 3.Absolutely NO godmoding! 4.Keep cursing to a bare minimum. 5.You may stay around to watch, take bets, etc. if you wish. 6.HAVE FUN!

The night felt exciting, as if it was a potential candidate to have some fun. Of course, almost every night in Tortuga was thought of as fun, but nonetheless, Tobbs anticipated the shadows that the evening cloaked itself in.
She was making her way through the streets when the faint sound of jeering and cheering caught her attention. Interesting...it could have been any strange occurrance in this town, but nonetheless, it drew her in.
She noted, as she neared, what seemed to be a fight commencing. It near near over, and just as she stood on her tiptoes to see what exactly was going on, the sound of a body falling to the ground brought huge applause and movement. Btters, viewers, and potential fighters were bustling around the fighting arena, and Tobbs smiled slightly.
She noted, at the back of a tavern's back door, a barmaid was passing rum other than her friendly gestures to whomever she passed. Snatching one up with a nod, she sat herself upon a crate, waiting for the next person to stand up to the challenge, wondering if she too would take a chance at the winnings of the night. Or was it only for fun that she considered it? No matter, the evening seemed FULL of suprises..

A young woman with long,red-brown hair walked before the shouting crowd, raising her hands in the air to buy a measure of quiet."Now,now,lads...seems we've got a winner 'ere!"The man who she indicated was greeted by cheers from the half-drunken crowd. He had a black eye and his clothes were torn, but he was in decidedly better shape than the man being rolled out of the ring.
"Yes,yes!Excellant, indeed, and sorry to those of you who bet on Jim 'ere,y'can' win 'em all...Do we have a challenger?"The man in the ring shook his head.
"I'm takin' me winnings for t'night,'m in no shape for another fight,"he declared.Shrugging,Emma scanned the crowd.
"Alright,then...two new combatants!"Her bright,sea-colored eyes settled on a familiar face."Tobbs!'Ow 'bout a bit of a go-round?I'll let ye choose the terms an' everythin'!"

::Though Isla de Muerta was often dreaded for its notorious reputation as a dangerous pirate haven, even its bleak, rocky shores were sometimes no match for the town of Tortuga. That was exactly the reason Captain Barbossa had decided to leave Jack the Crunchy Monkey in charge of the Gift Shop while he paid a short visit to the mainland::
::As soon as he arrived in Tortuga, Bossa was pleased to find the town in the same condition he had last seen it. Cheaps inns and pubs lined the streets, and the night air was filled with the familiar sounds of drunken singing, gunshots, and bar fights::
"Ahhh, it's good ta be back... Warms me black 'eart."
::Barbossa's thoughts were suddenly interrupted when a seemingly unconscious man was rolled past him. Curious, he looked back to find a crowd of unsavory characters lurking in the shadows of an alleyway. He moved closer and was surprised to see....::
"Emma?! Well well... Fancy that. Jus' what kinda show 're ye runnin' 'ere?" ::He grinned, taking a seat nearby::

Emma's head turned at the sound of an unpleasantly familiar voice. She turned her grimace quickly to a smile.
"Barbossa!Been a while since y've shown yer mangy hide around 'ere,'asn' it?"She called out, tossing a knife idly and catching it by the hilt."I'm surprised y'haven't been 'ere before,really...this's a place f'r those of us who like a good fight.Hell,if Tobbs isn' interested, are ye up f'r a round? No cheatin' this time, though!"

::Barbossa smirked slightly, tipping his hat almost mockingly to Emma:: "Aye, I missed ye too, lass... 'S jus' not the same without yer smilin', cheery face ta keep me company at sea...." ::He stood up slowly, cracking his knuckles as he glanced around at the faces in the crowd:: "Sure, I'll take up yer challenge, 'awkins. That is, if anyone be willin' ta fight an undead pirate captain."

The young woman smirked, her confidence never wavering."Y'think I'd be scared just 'cause ;f some silly curse?Should know better by now,mate...Name the rules of engagement,an' we'll start.Swords?Guns?Daggers?Fists?Pick yer poison,so t'speak..."The crowd moved away from the painted circle, leaving Emma and Barbossa alone, ringed in by the mass of bodies blocking their exits.

Tobbs smiled at Emma. She was rather in a watching mood tonight, but nontheless, she'd never turn down a challenge. However, with Barbossa's voice coming to her attention, she knew she would be able to enjoy the show.
Eying the man with slight distate, yet slight curiosity, she stretched and pushed someone out of her way. Taking the now empty seat that was right up and center with the circle, she cleared her throat.
"Now, I 'ate ta be int'rruptin' somethin' as intrestin' as this, but I've just GOT ta say..good luck to the both of ya. I 'ave a notion to start betting already. Barbossa, I wish you luck. Emma, I know ya don't need it."
She was of course biased, but that was the fun of it! Revealing a smile, she let the coins in a little pouch clang to get the bidders around her's attention.
"Ready to lose boys?"

Emma waved amiably back at Tobbs."Jus' be sure to remember 'o won ye all that gold next time I can't find me money in a tavern!"She called, then looked back at Barbossa, rolling her sleeves up."C'mon, old man,"she taunted, firelight from next door's windows glinting in her bluegreen eyes."Let's see if y've still got some fight in ye!"

A few moments passed in silence, then Emma leaned back on her boot-clad heels, arms crossing irritably in front of her chest."What....y' just gonna stand there all night lookin' at me?"she demanded, voice lilting mockingly."C'mon, mate, now's not th' time t'be starin'.It's me yer pickin' a fight with, not Rick..."

(*grins* Sorry fer starin', but he's just so pretty in that skirt, ye know?)
::Barbossa smirked, snatching a long sword from one of the drunken onlookers and taking a step toward Emma:: "Not that 'e'd mind me starin', I'm sure...," ::he taunted as he twirled the blade experimentally in each hand. Finally comfortable with its weight and balance, he locked eyes with Emma:: "Come on, lass, these fine people be waitin' fer a good fight!"

(KIIIIILT!!!! ) Emma shook her head,a smirk lighting upon her lips."Don' tease,Barbossa...y'know Rick doesn' like people sayin' that.Jus' like y'don' like it when people point out yer too old t'...well,y'know.Fuction.But that's not the point,is it,lads?" A chorus of agreement came up from the spectators.Stretching out for a moment, she looked around at the crowd, trying to find herself a weapon. She had gone unarmed against armed men before, and it wasn't an experience she wanted to replicate... Finally, she grabbed a cutlass and a buckler from a drunk lying in the street. He wasn't using them,anyway..."All right,Barbossa,"she quipped, striking towards his side."Wouldn' want t'dissapoint our public!"

(Oh, is that what 'e tells ye it is? ;D)
::Barbossa grinned. The battle was finally on. He side stepped as Emma's newly found blade swiped toward him:: "If ye don' want ta disappoint these people, th'n stop swingin' like a girl," ::he teased, grinning. He countered her attack with a strike to her knee with his own long sword::

(Well...it's either that or one of them Catholic schoolgirl skirts... ) Emma's eyes narrowed.Barbossa always knew exactly which things shouldn't be said to her,and wasted no time in saying them."Like a girl?"she growled, shifting out of his sword's path and throwing a punch at him with the hand holding the buckler."I'll show you who fights like a girl,ya bastard!"

(*ponders* ....I bet O'l Fish Legs would like to see that.... ) ::Barbossa grinned darkly as he brought his sword up to knock the buckler away with its hilt. His attempt to strike a nerve in Emma's pride had apparently worked. It was a skill he was quite fond of, really:: "Though ye may not think so, ye technically are a girl, Em...," ::he taunted, swinging his blade downwards for a quick slice at her side:: "But I understand if ye don' wanna tell Rick."
