Of Greeks and Pirates. Part Eleven

[Will Turner]

*Eric smiled and gave a nod as she said she was feeling better. But then she turned away from him and he furrowed his brow a bit, though a small grin still lingered upon his lips. At first he thought she was only teasing him, pretending she didn't want his company when suddenly she spoke. The smile dissapeared almost instantly and he felt his heart sink. He rubbed his arm out of discomfort for the situation and he lowered his eyes. The thought had crossed his mind a thousand times of what would happen when Port Royal appeared upon the horizon again and yet he never thought much of it. And now Evelyn was laying it out to him and he suddenly felt overwhelmed and confused. He knew that he fit in better in a place like Port Royal and that Evelyn was more at home upon a ship.* When I go back to Port Royal. *He said flatly, almost as if he needed to say it out loud for himself. It felt as if every muscle in his body had tensed up and suddenly he felt alone. As if nothing existed in the world but him. He didn't know what to say. Finally he rose very slowly, almost reluctantly and he lifted her chin up slightly with his hand and a faint smile came.* A bird may love a fish, but where would they live? *He said simply, letting her take it how she would. Then he turned, and paused only for a moment before he staggared off and leaned on the railing with his head in his hands as he sighed heavily. This trip wasn't supposed to turn out like this. He wasn't supposed to find her, he was supposed to be running pirates through with swords and shooting cannons at a ship, or hunting for burried treasure! Just not this.*[/color]

[Captain Morgan Barbossa]

(Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I've been helping my dad on his website and stuff, so I've been kinda busy!)

::Barbossa smirked as the Hell's Revenge shrank into the distance. They'd won the battle, and he still had the Pearl. But how long before Jack returned?::

::Assuming he was still alive of course::

"Selina...." ::he growled, clenching his fist. He knew she had been the one to pull the trigger, to shoot Jack Sparrow in the back. If he was dead... that meant Barbossa's one and only purpose for living was destroyed. His passion for revenge was all that had kept him going, and he would never be free until he had killed Jack. Yet this...girl had beaten him to it. He would not let her get away with this::

::Furious, he ripped himself away from the railing and stormed to the center of the deck::

"ALL YE SCURVY SEADOGS THAT STILL BE LIVIN', ON DECK NOW!!" ::he shouted. Immediately, the pirates who could still move gathered round their captain. They could tell he was angry, and none of them dared approach him::

"Where be Selina?! Com'ere!!"

[Evelyn]

Evelyn looked to Eric briefly and saw that he had turned melancholic. She had crushed him, she knew it, but he deserved better than this. He deserved more than she could offer. "Well...I s'ppose we're done 'ere then." She said with a soft groan and was about to leave when he stood. As he lifted her face to meet his gaze she bit her lip. His words were right...dead on and she hated it. Evelyn pulled away from his hand a bit violently and held back any tears that dared to fall.

Evelyn sighed heavily. "Aw! Bloody 'ell!" she said a bit too loudly and staggered towards him. "Eric mate, I care for ye, really...but...i's jus'...well ye know. Like ye said! Yer a bird an' well...I'm a damn fish mate! We're not right! It's like ye said before...we're as wrong as two people could be, really. An', an'...what would we do? I bet ye wan' a family...I can' give ye that. I can' even promise I'll be alive in the next few years..." Evelyn said with a laugh. "I care too much ta bring ye down. Ye deserve more...an'..." the name was on the tip of her tongue. "An'...then...ye still love her." Her words fell like the nails in a coffin.

It was definite now. "I know ye do. Don' deny it mate. Ye belong on shore...an'...I'm a fish o' the sea mate...plain an' simple really." Evelyn said reluctantly. She had said all of this in almost a ramble, trying to get this over with quickly. Evelyn sighed heavily and awaited his reaction to this. She squeezed his shoulder gently and then pulled away. Knowing, sadly, these were going to be the last few days with him.

But Evelyn was a pirate...through and through. She'd get through this, just like everythin' else...but she had to admit...it was pain like nothing else...

Selina had been trying to clean her wounds a bit with a rag when she heard Barbossa's voice reverberate througout the ship. She turned to see him and she smirked. Someone was going to get it really bad right about now.

Just then Selina heard her name called and she gasped. "Me?" she said softly as she took a step forward. Her dark eyes lifted to Barbossa and she chuckled softly. "Captain! Did you see the fine work I did." Selina said giving him a sly smile and lifting a brow. "I shot Jack Sparrow! Hopefully the man's dead and then his crew will fall right where we want them!" Selina said with an air of arrogance. Although looking about she was a bit nervous, but faced Barbossa nonetheless.

Her eyes scanned for an ally...the only one she could think of was Damien and he was nowhere to be seen. Barbossa glared at her with a brilliant fire in her eye and she knew she had done something wrong. Quickly he slapped her hard across the face. "Ye dirty li'l sea wench!" Barbossa cried at the top of his lungs. There was a sudden hush as the crew witnessed this. "Jack Sparrow was mine! Yer not ta lay a finger on 'im!" he yelled as his eyes bore into her.

Selina looked up at him with hateful eyes and she spit in his face instinctively. This was the second worst mistake she could possibly have made...

[Will Turner]

*Thoughts rushed through Erics head as he squeezed his eyes shut. What was he doing? Was he really just going to let it be and let her walk away from him like this forever? He growled out of frustration knowing that it could never work out. He glanced up quickly as she staggered over to him but he didn't turn around to face her. He wanted to, but he couldn't. He listened intently to every word that she said, shaking his head now and again. Eric was never really the family type, not after what had happened to his own when he was younger. Honestly, he couldn't see himself as a father and thus he gently shook his head as she mentioned those few words. And then she brought up Ashley. Evelyns words drove through his heart like the blade of a knife and he spun around quickly. His eyes were sad but his face was hard and stern. He stared at her for a long, uneasy moment and suddenly things were very different.* I'm not going to deny anything Evelyn. I do still love her and as hard as I try I can't stop loving her. I don't think I'll ever be able to even if I want to because of the way she was taken from me. I tried not to let her memory get in the way but do you know how bloody guilty I've felt over the past few days? Yet I still allowed myself to get close to you and without meaning to I've found myself caring about you. *He said in almost an angry tone. He glanced at her hand upon his shoulder out of the corner of his eye and then he sighed, shaking his head softly as he turned away from her again.* But I suppose you're right. We were just caught up in a lie and it's best if we get it straightened out now. *He said softly. Then he glanced over and saw Will coming towards them.*[/color]

*Will trotted over to Eric and Evelyn and he smiled, smacking them both on the shoulder. Completley oblivious to the fact that they didn't appear very happy at the moment.* Eric, I'm gonna go find Jack some rum. Want to help me? *He asked.*

*Eric looked at Will like he was an idiot but then he sighed and nodded. As Will again walked off Eric quickly turned to Evelyn and hugged her tightly, knowing it would be their last. He just felt that he needed that. He pulled away rather quickly and smiled a bit.* Evelyn if you think I deserve better than youre greatly underestimating yourself. *He said and rushed off, rather reluctantly, after Will.*[/color]

[Captain Morgan Barbossa]

::Barbossa calmly wiped the spit from his face, and cleaned his hand on his coat. Then he turned to Selina, glared directly into her eyes, and smirked::

"Too bad fer ye tha' whelp Evelyn didn' kill ye when she 'ad the chance. 'Cause ye'll be beggin' fer death before I'm through with ye!" ::He slapped her hard across the face, sending her crashing down to the deck, sputtering blood. He calmly drew his sword, and pressed it against the back of her neck::

"I shoulda know ye'd be trouble when I first agreed ta bring ye aboard. But I ne'er imagined ye would do somethin' like this. Leave it t'a woman...."

::He started to press the blade harder, drawing a bit of blood from her neck::

[Jack Sparrow]

:Jack merely nodded at Will and lay still, trying to figure out what had just happened to him:

;he felt better, much better. too good almost. Jack blinked and finally just stopped thinking. The idea that he'd been fully healed was just a bit to much. a miracle. and Jack didn't put much faith in miracles.:

:he glanced up at Hawk as he came over and sort of half grinned: "not a bad first few days fer ye, eh?" He asked Hawk with a wide grin:

[Roux]

Roux's eyes were slits of gold, and he kept his face turned towards the sun, silently speaking to someone beyond the reach of mortal ears.

A request. A plea. It was answered. A gentle wind filled the sails of the Hell's Revenge. A faint outline of a human figure appeared in the sky over Roux's head. The person nodded. Roux smiled at the god of the Western Wind.

"my thanks my friend." He whispered. The figure disappeared in a rush of wind. Roux stood, and walked below deck, a oddly comforting smile on his face.

[Jack Sparrow]
