Name: Avery Tolen
Nickname: Ry (known as the eldest Ry siblings)
Age: 23
Appearance: Avery has cool blue eyes, with vibrant red hair cut short. He stands tall, at 5' 11", with a dark tan skin and a stance that shows pride.
Personality: Ry is a cold man. He takes everything that is thrown at him and keeps walking, letting nothing affect him. He only lets his close friends see him smile or show any emotion.
History: Avery was the first of three children. He was the son of a sailor and bar maid; Aiden and Samantha Tolen. He was raised with his sister and brother in a small apartment in Port Royal. Their father was rarely home, leaving him the man of the house from a young age.
When Ry was 12 the family recieved word that his father had been swept over the side of the ship, the Reviver, in the middle of a storm and no one had been able to retrieve him. The family was devistated, his mother became depressed. She stopped eating and skipped work as much as she could. Nearly a year later she died, leaving Ry to look after his younger siblings.
They had no family left, and friends soon became tired of looking after the children. They quietly drifted out of mind and took to the streets. Ry was 16, when their friends deserted them. This was also when he met the 'boss'. He was an old man that looked after theives. The 'boss' organized the crime in the city and protected his people. It was not well known that the few theives had banded together almost becoming a close family.
At age 19 he had become an expert theif, along with his brother and sister. They were one of the top ranked and they were often called on for the more difficult jobs. They quickly were named the Ry Siblings for their talent and closeness. His brother, Ryley, was caught during a job. The last that Avery had heard of his younger brother, he had been hung.
From that day on, life became worse. His sister, Rhys, became despondent. For nearly a year, she stopped responding and only did what was essential for survival. Avery on the other hand had lived to look after his sister. She needed it, too. She was the only woman in the family of theives. Avery often found himself in fights defending her.
He was beginning to loose his hope, when she came alive again. She came alive full of fury. For years they lived as they once had, in the streets, in corners, in any place dry. They scrapped for food. As much as the 'boss' helped, he could not provide everything all the time. Life was hard, but they managed.
As much as Avery hated to admit it, he was only in Port Royal for his sister. If he had a choice he would have moved away and started a new life for himself. However, she needed him and he could not leave her. He loved her too much. She was the only one of the theif family that saw any emotion out of him besides cold anger. That was until the day she ran away. Deciding that she would not be coming back, he hoped a ship and made his way to Tortuga. Leading him to the life of a pirate.
