Name: Eric Jackson Age: 22 Descritiption: Dark blonde hair, slightly long and tossed about on his head, very dark brown eyes, 6’0 tall with a strong build. Usually wears loose fitting brown pants with black boots, a white baggy shirt and black leather belt where he keeps his sword and pistol.
History: Eric was born into a wealthy family in London, England. His mother was Margaret Williams. She was often found helping out at the orphan shelters. She was also well known for her beauty with hair that shown like gold and eyes as bright as emeralds. His father was Nathan Jackson, a prominent and well known businessman in London. Eric resembled his father greatly.
Their home was immaculate, a large Victorian mansion that overlooked the Thames river. His family often attended the numerous political parties and social events that were held around London and its outskirts.
When Eric was two his younger sister Melissa was born. Even though she was blind, Eric took to her immediately. He felt an overwhelming sense of wanting to look out for her and protect her in any way that he could. Because of Melissa’s disability, Eric was forced to become her eyes and because of this he became more aware of what was around him. He was able to pick up and recall even the smallest details of what he had seen.
As the two grew older they became very close, one just as rebellious as the other. Neither enjoyed the life of a wealthy family wrapped up in politics. Especially Eric. He would sneak away from the parties with Melissa and the two would spend the evening along the river, or on the bridges as Eric grew to have a fondness for the water. He found it calming, escaping to the rivers banks whenever he needed solitude and peace. Along with his fondness for the water, he also discovered he had a knack for art. Becoming his sisters eyes gave him a skill he may have otherwise never had and it didn’t take him long to become a skilled artist. Even those far older then him picked up on his talent and admired it.
Eric and his sister were spoiled greatly as children, reciving anything and everything that they wanted and then some. Their parents were loving and supporting and Eric had a tight bond with his father. When he turned 12 he began spending more time with Nathan at his business, getting an early start on the ways the business world worked.
However that same year, Erics dream life became a horrible nightmare. He and his sister had fallen asleep one evening in the study after reading one of their fathers books. That night two men who had recently been fired from Nathans company snuck into the home while the Jackson family was asleep. Slipping past the maids unnoticed they went from room to room upon the second floor, setting them on fire until they were sure the house and all who were in it wouldn’t make it. Eric and Melissa were the first to wake, rising as soon as the two men entered the study. However the room was set fire and the two children were locked inside before they even had a chance. Melissa, unable to see was terrified and Eric did his best to keep her calm. Nathan and Margaret were on the first floor but thought their children had already made it out. Eric managed to bust the door down and hurried from the room to find a way out, however the only way he could find was out the window at the end of the hall. As he got back to Melissa he found her upon the floor, realizing she had died from the smoke. He would not have left her if it hadn’t been for his father, climbing through the window to retrieve the two young children. The house was lost, as was Melissa who was only 10.
Nathan and Margaret were thrown into jail to await trial as the two men who had started the fire, framed Nathan. Eric was sent off to live in an orphanage until a year later his parents were tried. Margaret was released but his father was found guilty and hung before those in the town square the next day. Eric was returned to his mother but they had lost everything. The company was handed off to another man and all their assets were frozen. He and his mother were forced to live on the streets, seeking shelter behind dumpsters and in rundown buildings. They ate the leftovers people threw out and faced the cruel insults thrown at them by the prominent elite who once considered the Jacksons one of them. Margaret was forced to make money in any way possible, often times resorting to the company of men in an effort to fill her sons stomach. Eric would cry whenever his mother returned home. Her once soft curls were now dirty and tangled, her beautiful face was thin and pale and her eyes weary and sad. She no longer looked like the woman he once knew and he knew it was because of him she did these things. He knew Margaret would do anything to keep him alive, and he couldn’t stand it any longer.

He ran away, leaving her a note to know it was because he loved her that he left and hoped that without him as a burden she could find a better life for herself. And so at the age of 13 Eric was on his own, living in Brighton on the southern coast of England. There he worked on the docks, cleaning ship decks for the Royal Navy and doing any errands they sent him on. He kept only enough money to eat on and would save the rest, in hopes of bringing it to his mother someday. It was here in Brighton that Eric found himself fascinated with ships, and even pirates as he often heard tales of them from the sailors in the taverns and inns. However as much as he pondered joining a crew and turning to piracy which was often a profitable business, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. He found his legs stood better on land than on a boat.
When he turned fifteen he had saved up enough money to put his mother in a small cottage for at least a year and so he returned to London, surprised to find her already making a living for herself as a maid in a wealthy household. It wasn’t a great life but he was relieved to see her off the streets. However she refused his money, telling him he should keep it to establish a life for himself. Better than the one that she could give him now. He chose to help her in the mansion where he kept her company until seven months later she died tuberculosis. Eric remained in London for another month until he found peace with his mothers death, accepting that he was an orphan and he decided to leave the country.
He had heard many tales of Port Royal and all of them were good and interesting. Finally he discovered a merchant ship that was headed to the Caribbean and he snuck aboard it, managing to keep himself hidden until the ship arrived in the docks of Port Royal. He was pleased with the town and as night fell, slipped into the blacksmith shop until morning. Will discovered him the next day as Eric had overslept and offered to help Eric out. But Eric was too strong spirited and didn’t want the help of a younger boy, feeling he could support himself just fine without the help of charity. However he did help out in the shop in exchange for food and a small pay. It was enough to keep him boarded in a small Inn until he was able to afford his own home. He moved into a small one room building above a jewelry shop.
As Eric was walking along the docs one day at the age of nineteen he ran into a beautiful woman named Ashley Portman who he fell instantly in love. Her hair was as black as midnight and her eyes as blue as the sea. She was proper and lady like in every way and she became Erics entire world. Though she was a little wealthier than him, her family welcomed him with open arms. The two became inseparable, unable to think of anything but each other. Finally, two years later Eric proposed to her and she immediately accepted his offer.
They began planning the wedding, or rather Ashley planned it and Eric nodded his head a bunch, throwing in a few yeses now and again. However as the month passed Eric and Ashley were spending the evening in a tavern when a group of men fighting, knocked into the table and sent Ashley sprawling on the ground. In their drunken state they lifted her and began making advances on her, caressing her face and hair and grabbing her waist. Eric was on them in a second, pounding on the apparent leader of the group. It wasn’t long before both men pulled their pistols on one another. Ashley begged Eric to let it go and return home with her and for once he decided to listen to her. As he turned to leave he suddenly heard Ashley cry out and as he spun around he saw her jump in front of him and a gun went off. The haunting sound of it still haunts his dreams. Ashley dropped to his feet and the man who shot her ran off like a coward while Ashley died that night in Eric’s arms.
Eric wasn’t able to get over it. For months the darkness that clouded his mind only continued to grow darker and so, without warning, he boarded a ship and returned to England. He wasn’t able to bear the memory of Ashley in Port Royal and felt that by escaping the town, he would escape what haunted him. But the memory of that night lingered still, torturing his every dream and every thought until he gave up all hope of ever being happy again.
In England he felt even more alone than ever and decided if he was to even go on living at all, he should return back to Port Royal. He hoped that returning to the blacksmith shop and to Will that things would seem a little more normal. And so when he was twenty two he returned, only to find out that Will was a changed man, now married to Elizabeth after a rather surprising pirate escapade.
When Jack Sparrow and company returned to Port Royal a short while later Eric was invited by Will to join them and so he slipped on the ship only to be confronted by a rather feisty lass named Evelyn. It didn’t take him long to find himself drawn to her (even though they argue on a regular basis) in a way he didn’t think was possible for him now. One night by a drunken accident they ended up together in his bed, though both are convinced nothing happened. However even though he found himself falling for her, when the ship returned to Port Royal he chose to remain on the land and let her go.
Upon his return Ashleys childhood friend Elinor, who had always liked him, took this opportunity to consul him and find a place for herself in his life. After almost a year of her hints Eric was about ready to just settle down with her and accept that he’d never truly be in love again. But the Pearl returned, and Evelyn was still there. Because she allowed Luis, someone who Eric hated, to go with her on the Pearl he came too. He realized just how much he truly loves her and now he doesn’t know if he can let her go again.
And so that is where Eric is now. Twenty three years old and on one hell of an adventure. He is a charming man but greatly guards his heart and usually hides all emotions. He is a kind and gentle spirit most of the time, finding his way out of a tight spot or uncomfortable situation through humor. However beneath his soft exterior is a tempter and when it’s unleashed it isn’t pretty.
