There is a lot to be said about Miss Lara Sarah-Jayne Swinny, a lot to be said indeed...
For one point, one could inquire as to why indeed a 'prim and proper' English Rose like Miss Swinny, would be currently residing in Oxbay and constantly venturing to the likes of Tortuga, seemingly, purposely striving to consort and engage in dealings with Pirates and the like?
Well, there is more to this blue-frocked English missy than meets the eye, savvy?
Much to her father's dismay and concern, when Lara was still only a young girl, she became obsessed with the world and exploration and then ultimately, with travel. It was her one and only desire to one day, up sticks and travel the oceans of the world, learning about the different cultures and peoples. Her passion lay in legends and stories which she would occasionally hear from the seafarring folk.
In way of a compromise, Mr. Tate Swinny urged his daughter to study maps of the wolrd and read books of the world, in order to quell her thirst for travel. Though did this seemingly flawless plan work? Alas for Tate Swinny; no!
All this served to do was whet Lara's appetite for adventure and travel, and so, upon the morn of her twentieth birthday, she bought passage upon one of the Navy's great ships and was intent on sailing, first to Oxbay, and then randomly to Tortuga and the like. Though this time, she not only wanted to explore and see, this time she wanted to record and write about what she saw.
It was just as she stepped onto the dock, that her father finally gave her his blessing and wished her luck by handing over to her a purse with a rather substantial amount of money in it.
So Lara left and currently resides in Oxbay, where she intends to mingle with the locals there and then travel around and mingle with as many Pirates, scallywags and the like as she can find.
In appearance, Lara is your typical English Rose. Her blonde hair is always worn loose with a hint of a wave styled into it; her eyes are of a pale blue hue and her complexion is in need of some serious sunrays. Dressed in a pale blue knee-length dress with white petticoat, teamed with tight-fitting cotton breeches underneath, Lara looks slightly out of place wherever she now goes, though she cares not, and is quite happy to be where she is... all this English Rose wants now is to be thrust into the bosom of adventure.
