::Jack's reaction changed little as Tobbs helped him clean up. He seemed numbed out.....he wasn't really there......then someone shouted::
"SPARROW!!" Jack's eyes flickered towards the window and he stood and looked out. Mark was there howling at him. Jack's face didn't change::
::He took his sword in hand and another of Will's that was lying in the hall on his way out. He opened the door and stepped out looking at Mark with the merest hint of hate in his eyes. Now he only looked tired::
"Mark....if ye want to fight...we can end this now.....or ye can keep yer head on like any sane man would..and we might end up dying with some honor at each others hands...but right now I've got to look after my crew. Go home....look after Sam....."
::Jack's eyes flickered just slightly, then as if to prove his point his hand twitched slightly his sword was in the air and zipping towards Mark before he blinked. It caught the edge of Mark's sleeve::
::Jack stared at him a hard moment:: "I'm staying with the Turners.....ye burned my life down...don't make the mistake of destryoing them and their child.....if I see ye near here, it'll be your head....."
::With that Jack turned and slammed the door shut hard enough to crack the glass, and he marched back upstairs::

Mark looked down at his shoulder. Barely scratched. Jack marched back inside. Mark looked up at the sky then down to the ground.
"Coward."
He said under his breathe. Like the Captain hadn't done anything to him right. He lost nearly all trust for people...except Sam. He was on the brink of death, had it not been for Rhys he would have died. Not that anyone in the crew would have cared at the time. Jack least of all. He had always been told not to hold a grudge when he was little. But then again...his parents never experienced such betrayal. He drew his dagger and and a pulled out a note and pinned it to the nearest tree. it read:
Jack, Meet me at the abandoned fort...five miles from Port Royal. You'll find it.
He looked at the house. Then walked back to his own. He noticed that the window had been pryed open. Rhys. He thought. He could only imagine how she felt right now. He searched the city for her, but could not find her. He soon went back to the hospital to check on Sam. When he got there he learned that Sam was doing better. He was awake and eating. Mark went into his room.
"Hey Sam. How are you doing?"
"Not to bad. Stomache hurts a bit. Is Jack dead?"
"No he's not dead. The fight ended when I brought you here. I know he didn't mean to stab you. It was meant for me. Why did you do that? I found him again and wanted to end it all there and then...but he didn't want to. Coward."
"I meant to merely stop the fight...I never intended to get run through. So he wouldn't fight you?"
"Not yet anyway. He said he didn't want any harm to come to the Turner's Child. I don't know how our quarrel involves the child. I would never do anything to harm a child. He said that if I ever came there again I'd loose my head. Next time we meet he may very well have his loosed from his shoulders. I never intended for this to happen like it did. I just meant to have a small hole get blown into the damn ship...not for the whole damned thing to blow up."
Sam sat up in his bed an listened. Mark gave him a small hug.
"I best be headin home. I'll come visit you tomorrow."
Mark walked back home. His window had been pryed open in his bedroom. Rhys must have done it, for his clothes were on the floor. He fixed the window and went to bed. In the morning he could very well be joining his family.

*Elizabeth had managed to calm James down, and she caressed his little cheeks gently as she watched him sleeping. She could never imagine losing him. Nor Will. She had a family now. And she'd be cautious on what she did now.*
*At the shout of the captain's name, James made a small 'humph' and furrowed his brows, but was asleep nonetheless. Placing him carefully back into the crib, she kissed his forehead before quietly exiting.*
*Milly was at the door. Elizabeth smiled warmly and pat the young girl on her shoulder.*
"Miss 'Lizbeth, what's going on? Are the pi'rats visitin'? Is James alright? Is-"
"Yes, yes, everything's fine. Captain Sparrow and the others are ehre to visit too. And James is just fine. But he could really use someone to watch him. Would you be my helper and sit with him for a bit? Just until the house settles down?"
*She nodded and Elizabeth smiled again, watching her sneak quietly in and shut the door. Sighing tiredly, she straightened her dress up and headed for the guests' quarters. When she was there, she knocked on the door she expected the captain to be in. When Tobbs answered, she nodded in greeting.*
"I'm awfully sorry to be disturbing you so late, but I felt a need to check up on things. Is all....well?"

"Well as they can be, I'm guessing. An' no need for apologies. You've every right to be where you please 'ere, it is your 'ouse now."
*Tobbs smiled at the lady and glanced back at Jack, whom had just re-entered the room after Mark's shouting incident.*
"My thanks on letting us in in such short notice...some of the crew might be along, if thats alri-"
"Yes, yes, they're more than welcome to stay here. And I'll see about keeping disturbances away...such as that should not-"
"No worries, Elizabeth. Jack's made it clear. I'm positive nothing of the sort'll happen. But perhaps, if you wish for some safety, Old Norrington and 'is men could pay a visit. I might stay in this 'ere room...not too keen on greeting..well..."
"I understand. Well, if you wish for something else, just ring, and someone will be up to answer."
"Again, my thanks. Goodnight for now."
*With a nod, she shut the door softly and turned to Jack. Mark should not have done that. Was he foolish? Or just mad? Or, both?*
*Keeping quiet, she went over beside him, all finished patching him up. He still seemed....distant...*
*Leading him over to the bed, she got him to sit down. After placing her effects down on the dresser, and doing likewise for him, she removed her boots and his as well. She'd rather have him sit and do nothing than have to worry about getting ready to sleep.*
*Tobbs had decided to try adding to ehr outfit, just for mere fun. So, she'd gone to a special clothing shop earlier on that year and ahd a special line of corsets made to her liking, being that she'd had some left over gold. She'd grown rather fond of them. But not for sleeping. So she removed the said article and was comfortably in her blouse and pants now.*
*Curling up beside him on the bed, she rested her head on him, wondering if he'd ever manage to catch some sleep. She hoped he'd try, at least.*
"I'm not sleepin' just yet....just restin'...so no worries, savvy?"
*Glancing up at him, she returned her gaze towards the window, where Mark had been. Mark....what to do with him...*

*Elizabeth nodded and watched as the door closed. She'd rather have Norrington and his men close....for some reason, she needed that necessity. And she was already feeling a bit jumpy without Will with ehr.*
*Going downstairs, she looked to Jacque.*
"Jacque, if you'd be so kind as to let any who claim to be part of the Pearl's...or, Captain Sparrow's crew in, they're welcome to sleep in one of the guest rooms."
*She turned to Clarice, who loomed in the dining room doorway.*
"Clarice, could you mix something up for any who are hungry? Something easy and quick would do wonders."
*Once she'd said a few other things to them, she went into the parlor and sat down, still tense. She needed to see Will....she hadnt seen him after the plunge into the waters. Was he hurt? Was he alive? Where was he?*
*Standing, she went back to the door, pacing in the opening hall as she waited for him, and any others, to arrive.*

::Jack gave Elizabeth a grateful nod then added: "Sorry if...it woke yer little one up....."
::Tobbs had him sit down and he sighed. Finally when she lay down he laid down next to her and closed his eyes:: "Sleep......I'll be awake...." He said softly and stroked her hair::: "Not a chance I'll sleep tonight anyway.....so one of us might as well.....savvy?"
::He kissed her forehead and held her as close as he could and stared out the window.::

Mark couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned. He looked up at the ceiling and thought back on the night's happenings. It was all out of his hands now. He knew he was stupid to have disturbed the Turner's. He meant no harm to anyone...if only they knew that. He didn't want to kill anyone...but it seemed he had no choice now. He never pondered running. It wasn't like him to run. He figured it wasn't Jack's way to run either. Although he sure took the first chance he could to leave him behind. He still couldn't believe that Jack didn't understand the situation. In fact a thought just came to him. Rhys had been left too...hadn't she? She didn't seem to phased by it. Perhaps it wasn't the first time he left her. He began to cool down from the fight. He had no idea what to expect come morning. Would Jack even show up? Would he show up alone or bring back up? He tried closing his eyes again. But to no success.
"Forgive me..."
He said softly. He wished for the crews forgiveness...except Jack, all he wanted from him was an addmitance of wrong doing...and if he didn't get that...then his blood. He thought about Rhys. She would never trust him again. She never had any stability in her life...the ship seemed to provide that...and now it was gone.
"Damn it! What have I done!?"
He yelled out to the darkness. He sat in the chair in the corner of the room and rocked back and forth...thinking about tommorrow...would it be his last?

Mark had entered the room before she could leave. She had been on her way to the window, when she heard him coming down the hallway. She hid in his closet for now, praying that he would not turn and find her. He was soon laying down to sleep and she felt she was on her way to freedom, but just as she prepared to step out he began to toss and turn.
She knew, he wasn't sleeping. Years of experience had taught her to tell when a person was asleep. When it was safe to come or go. So, she remained where she was tucked away safely in Mark's closet.
Brown eyes stared out, watching the man that had killed her only home. He suddenly stood and moved to a chair. He was talking to himself and she straighned to listen. She could make out a few of his words and her eyes softened slightly. She pitied him, but she couldn't turn her back on her Captain or join the man that had killed her only home. So she remained silent. Watching him, waiting for her chance to escape and try to think this over.

Mark sat in the chair a moment more. Suddenly he perked up. Something wasn't right. He looked down at the floor and noticed a small puddle trail leading to the closet. So she wasn't gone afterall. He sat in the chair for a moment...pondering if he should pretend he didn't know she was there or if he should try to talk to her. He was sure she felt betrayed by him. He didn't exactly feel like getting his eyes scratched out. He stood up slowly. He clenched his fists and cleared his throat.
"Rhys. I know you're in the closet. Come out please. We need to talk."
He said softly. He wanted to talk but didn't know what to say really. He took a few steps forward. He suddenly remembered he was only in his shorts. He slipped on a pair of pants that was hanging over the end of the bed. He felt a little stupid over that. He did not bother with a shirt. It was awfully warm in the room with the fire and all.
"Please come out luv. I know you probably hate me right now...but we need to talk."
He was sure she had taken Jack's side. Not that he could blame her...it was her home too...he hadn't really thought about what it would to the crew if he blew up the ship...but it was too late for that now. The rain began to come down lighter. But the thunder continued. A bright flash lit the room with a blue blaze. Mark could see Rhys between the slits in the door. He took another step forward.

Rhys stopped breathing as Mark stood and looked directly at the closet calling out to her. If she didn't move, he wouldn't know she was there. He was positive. But he moved closer and called out again. Her mind raced frantically for an escape. Blue eyes scanned the inside of the closet searching for anything that would help her. Yet, there was nothing, nothing but clothes.
Giving up, all she could do was open the door and make a spring for the window. However, Mark had closed the window and she turned quickly running for the door without a word. She didn't want to be caught and spoken to. She needed time to sort out her thoughts and decide where she was staying.

Suddenly the woman came bursting out of the closet. He reached out and grabbed her gently. He held her by the shoulders and looked deep into her eyes.
"Why were you in the closet?"
He asked softly. He knew she must hate him.
"I wanted to talk to you about all this. I know the Pearl was your home. When I did what I did I didn't take time to think about all the people it would affect. All I knew at the time was that it would hit Jack where it hurt."
She looked way.
"Look at me Rhys. I am really sorry...What can I do to make this right again? I only mean for this to drag in Jack...but it dragged in everyone. I never wanted to hurt you....but it seems I have. What can I do to make this right huh?"
He was almost pleading now. He really didn't know what to do to make this all right again...he was hoping she could help him out.

Post by Governor Weatherby Swann on Nov 1, 2004 0:40:32 GMT -5
*The blast had been quite the disturbance of the night. All of Port Royale had run out of their homes to view the sudden outburst. Included in the group had been the Governor. He'd been dining with some friends for the evening, and just as dessert was being served, the blast occurred.*
*Wondering if Norrington was up to something, he'd gone out on the porch and watched the flames in puzzlement. There'd been no scheduled...well...anything this bizarre. He'd ahev to look into it.*
"If you'll excuse me. I must attend to some matters at the, well...my gratitude for the lovely supper, Mrs. Williams. It was absolutely splendid."
*Retreating to the carriage that awaited him, he slipped in after whispering a few directions to the driver. Straightening his wig up a bit, he continued to gaze out at the docks, wondering what had happened.*
*As they pulled up to the fort, the governor quickly stepped out and made a brief visit to Norrington's offices. When he stepped back in the carriage, Norrington was sitting with him, a few men on horseback trailing just behind in the streets.*
*They headed for the residence now, pulling up and knocking on the door as the stablehands put away the horses. As Jacque entered, he nodded in greeting and went into the hall.*
"I must say this has definitely been a night of sup-....Elizabeth! Awake at this hour?"
*He wore a smile that soon faded into s small frown.*
"Is everything alright? I've brought the Commodore home to help discuss the events of the night. Commodore Norrington, if you'd be so kind as to direct your men to the library and study, I'd be delighted to get Mattie and Clarice brewing some tea."
*Watching them go, he turned back to his daughter, a curiously worried look on his face.*
"Now then, you were saying?"

*Erics mouth was still gaping when Evelyn came rushing up to the docks only seconds later. He was shaking his head slowly…everything seemed to be distant while the world moved in slow motion. He was brought back into reality when a second blast knocked him off his feet. He hit the soaking docks with a loud grunt and winced as a piece of small metal cut his forehead and shoulder.* Bleedin' Christ *He muttered, stumbling to his feet.
Suddenly Evelyn flung herself into the now icy cold waters and Erics eyes grew wide. He dropped to his knees on the edge of the dock and blinked fearfully after her. The intense heat from the Pearl could be felt throughout his entire body.* EVELYN! Come back! *He screamed out. When she came back he trotted over to her side, glancing down at the ruined drawing in her hand. He frowned a little but figured it was better the drawing then her.
He reached out and placed his arm about her shoulders as she began to bark out angrily. He gave her a small squeeze and sighed heavily, saying nothing. He couldn't even begin to imagine how horrible this all was for her. The ship was her everything and now it was gone.* Im sorry, Evelyn *He said softly.
And then the captain put a knife to Marks throat though Eric hardly protested. He only stood there and watched with a rather blank look on his face. But when Mark confessed his fists balled at his sides and he glared angrily, his eyes filled with a burning hatred. It wasn't so much the ship he was upset about as it was all the people who called it home. They had nowhere, nothing. And it was all due to a man who didn't know how to let go.* Bloody bastard. *Eric hissed. He grunted a little at the mention of a Captain taking care of his crew.* Yeah well a man should take care of himself. *He muttered, eyeing the traitor.
A moment later the two were engaged in a heated battle and Marks shoulder was run through. Erics eyes jerked to Evelyn as she protested this act and honestly he was surprised by it. He figured she would want him dead just as much as Jack did. But Eric still hated the man…he wasn't about to defend a traitor.
Before long young Sam had been wounded and only then did Eric feel a sting of sadness. The lad had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time and he paid for it, almost with his life. But Mark had taken off with him to the hospital. The whole ordeal seemed to have happened before Eric even had a chance to blink.
He noticed the look in Evelyns eyes as she glanced at him and all he could do was lower his head. They were all helpless, nothing could be down now. She revleaed the drawing to him again and he smiled only a little.* At least that can be replaced. *He said and sighed, nodding as she mentioned the ship had been their home. It had been. He stood behind her and slipped his arms about her as he glanced out at the wreckage…he was at a complete loss for ideas.
When Jack gave them permission to take their loyalty elsewhere he shook his head, clinging tighter to Evelyn. His loyalty had already been given to Jack, Evelyn, and the crew and that's where it was going to stay. He was about to give up now.
He smiled at the crew as Evy informed them there was room to crash at their own little house. They were all more then welcome to.
OOC: Will add to this a bit later, am at school and ran out of time!

Rhys froze as Mark held her, looking into her blue eyes. She didn't want to be here now. He had shown himself to be as unpredictable as the men who had run her out of town. She couldn't look at him anymore, so she turned her head, but she couldn't block out his words. His pleas reached her, and though her heart remained cold to him, she began to relax a little. She could understand his reasoning a tiny bit.
"I was left alone as well, Mark," she whispered softly. "If I was to go back and do something like this everytime I had been left behind, it would be all I did in my life. My father was lost in a storm, leaving my entire family behind. My mother died of a broke heart, she abandoned us to our own fates. She left us alone, when we truly needed her. My oldest brother abandoned me with the Pearl to stay with Barbossa's crew. And my other brother was hung when we I was younger. All of them left me in some way or another. If I was to exact revenge it would consume my life."
She paused and then continued, "You want to know how to fix this?" She new her answer was cold, but she couldn't do anything else. She wasn't angry with him, but she was upset and didn't want to be friendly. He had abandoned her as well, left her to her fate among theives once again. "You'll never be able to fix this entirely, not unless you can go back in time," she informed him. "But, there are some ways you can set things to rights. You can end this now. Apologize and stop trying to kill the Captain. Help us look for a ship and help everyone else find places to stay."
She turned back to look him in the eyes, "It is your choice how you wish to carry on the rest of this quarrel. Forgive and forget on your part, or loose your life. Either way it is up to you." With that she broke free of his grip and moved to the window, prying it open and slipping out. If Mark moved to look after her all he would see is dark. He would not see the young woman crying against the wall of his house, she blended so well with the dark.
The night had been too stressful and now she had to find herself a place to sleep that was not inhabited by any people from her previous life. It indeed looked like it would be just another stressful night.

Emma stood at the edge of the docks, remnants of the fire making her auburn hair glow bright red.She stared into the water, into the blood-red light dancing beneath the dark surface...
Home had never meant much to Emma.London had never been home.Tortuga had always been more of a base of operations than anything else. But the Pearl...
She didn't know what it was, really. She was a fine ship, but she had sailed fine ships before,if not quite on par with the Black Pearl. The crew?Rick, and Evy,and Eric...her crewmates meant a lot to her.As much as her fisrst crew had meant,even...And the Captain...
Her fists clenched at her side.It was one thing to trick an enemy,or a stranger...but betrayal, betrayal of someone who trusted you...Taking away someone's home, their life...THAT was unforgivable.Threatening her friends was unforgivable.
"That...son of a pregnant dog!"
Rick stood a few feet behind her, their share of the jewels safely tucked in the pocket of the old,well-loved coat that he wore. His face, his posture,we calmer than Emma's,but the same hatred burned in his eyes. After a time,he shook his head, walking up and laying a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Em.We should find a place t'stay..."He cut off her protests with a finger to her lips."Revenge c'n come later, lass. When yer sober again."
A wry smile crossed her lips."Which'll take 'ow many years?Th' boy'll just keel over on 'is own by then, love,"she responded, slipping her hand into his as they went off to find shelter for the night.
