:::Jack stayed underwater, holding his breath, and allowing a steady stream of air leave his lungs. Slowly decompressing them, giving himself more time underwater. Until Tobbs reached under and yanked him towards the surface. His head broke through the water ,and he gave her a half smile. He didn't say anything, but let her hug him, and he tread the water, still waiting for her to speak::
:::Jack's eyes narrowed considerably as he listened to Tobbs. he didn't say anything however and only listened to her. When finally she explained things....well, explained them as much as she was willing too, he only nodded and allowed himself to be half pulled to the Gold Mermaid, where some of the crew was waiting. Before Tobbs got good and drunk, he put a hand on her shoulder, and turned her to face him. But when he spoek it was in an entirely serious voice:: "Victoria....ye know I love you....and if ever there's something going on in that head of yours that's too big a fight for you....I want ye to tell me.....savvy?"
::with that he gestured towards the bar, and smiled:: "Go have fun....I'll be waiting nearby for you....."
::He turned and walked towards the back of the room, near a window and frowned as he looked into the darkness of the growing night. Something was changing in the wind.....something was coming. And he didn't like the way it felt. Someone would invade Tortuga....soon..........:::
:::Frowning at the thought, he looked around the room and then finally sat down. He'd leave in the morning.....and take no chances.....::

Laurel had not joined the rest of the crew in their drinking contest. Much as she wanted too, she still felt a bit akward around the group of them. So instead she wandered the streets of Tortuga and tried not to laugh at the drunken fights around her.
She found a shop with jewel bright dresses in the window and stopped to look. She caught sight of her relfection in the window and shook her head. Laurel had always been quite a pretty girl, and it was a sad day for quite a few aspiring young men when Laurel ran away to be a pirate. If her father had been alive, she would have killed him from the shock of it. Laurel was the only daughter in her family...and a prominant family at that. The Blackwells were quite well known in the Court in England.
Her father had even been friends with Govenor Swann. Norrington had heard of her, they'd never met, of course. but the two fathers spoke often. Then Laurel's father died quite suddenly from fever four years ago, and Swann had sent her mother a letter of condolence. Laurel had heard from Jack that norrington was now hunting pirates. What an Irony.......::
That thought in mind, Laurel frowned more, looking at the dresses. Before she would have been wearing any number of silk dresses and jewels......now she wore trousers and jackets....and in place of the jewels, a cutless and dagger......funny how life changed.....
stormy gray green eyes turned from the window and she continued walking. But she was happy in her new life. No flouncing about, no maids, and no ridiculous corsets! tossing her wild golden brown hair back she continued up the street, simply looking for something to do.

Tobbs tappes her fingers upon the table, waiting expectantly for Evelyn to bring those drinks over. She was actually quite excited about all of this. She had recently discovered that rum had been a way out for her, just like it had been for her father...and his life was not one she’d even wish to be likened to. So, she’d decided to TRY and hold off (which was hard when you were apart of a crew, let alone Jack Sparrow’s) and indulge herself during certain events. For example, a drinking contest...
“Evelyn mate, do I ‘ave ta go over there and beat the bartender inta agreein’ ta pour us this much rum? I’ll do it!”
The bartender glanced up hesitantly and began to quicken his pace. Just as Tobbs was about to comment to Emma on the “courtesy” of Tortuga’s shop owners, she felt a hand upon her shoulder and looked up. She was turned towards Jack, and she raised a brow almost worriedly. She sensed...something was on his mind. When he spoke, she could only smile softly and watch him.
“As I love ye, Jack,”
she whispered as he walked off. Sighing and holding her gaze on him, she glanced around the tavern watchfully, sensing he sensed something again. Finally, she shrugged a bit, smiled a bit mischeviously to Jack in the back, and went over to Evelyn and Emma.
“Alrigh’, I’ve got the cap’n’s permission ta try beatin’ ye. Let’s get this started, shall we mates? Would ‘ATE puttin’ off the inevitable..”

::Jack only watched Tobbs from his dark corner, and smiled just faintly. She really was special to him......and he'd die before he'd let something happen to her....it was a new feeling and it was almost unnerving....but for Jack.......who lived life on a thin blade......it only made him that much more wild........and yet somehow...........not as wild...............:::
::Of course that didn't make any sense.....except in Jack's head. So he only watched Tobbs and his crew from the corner, and for once didn't participate........he didn't like the feeling in the air........and he wouldn't be caught off guard........::

(Ehhh,I'll post as Em tomorrow morning...feeling rather uninspired for her,for some reason...)
Despite herself,Christiana blushed at Barbossa's last comment as she followed him through the door. She didn't suppose her house would be in any livable condition if she left it alone for the length of time sailing would entail, but it wasn't as though it really mattered to her.Keeping a house nice in Tortuga was really too much work, anyway.
"As you wish,"she replied, regaining her composure as they stepped out into the dusky evening."So,where's this ship of yours?"

There was a glint in Evelyn's eye. Tobbs was ready to take both her and Emma on. She only hoped the woman knew exactly what she was getting herself into. "Right, well then, we'll go 'head and not let ya wait ta get beat then Tobbsy." Evelyn winked playfully, giving a laugh, and smacking her palm upon the table before them.
Extracting a scarf from the depths of her sash, she slipped it behind her neck. Her thick curls were always a problem while in her drunken state, and she wagered if she lost all control she might just attempt cutting the entire quaff off, which would none too please Eric. The flasks of rum were brought over with an almost ceremonious air. The tavern seemed to go slightly quiet as a few gathered around them. Evelyn could discern a mumble or two through the gathering looming crowd.
She felt a shiver go down her spine then, not sure why. Evelyn was never one to become nervous about much and just for a moment, she had. She quirked a brow, and turned honey eyes towards the open window. "Bloody breeze..." she uttered, dismissing the small shiver that racked her spine. Amidst the warm tavern she wagered it was nothing more than that.
"Right then," She began to explain, her eyes dancing over the myriad of colors surrounding her, the nameless faces, the souless eyes that seemed to have settled upon the three of them. "Erm...well finish off each mug. We'll down them each one at a time and alltogether. First to fall, give in, or not able ta hold it all in..." she said with a slight sneer. "...well then...that'll determine the winner."
There was slightly a roar that rose then, that caused the floorboards to tremble slightly. " 've got money on the redhead there!" "NAH! THe blonde! She'll take it!" Several called through the air. It was clear they had become the sport and those surrounding them the spectator's, but Evelyn didn't mind, as long as she didn't make a complete fool out of herself...and that was never a garuntee.

Dar was different, something about him was different and she couldn't take it. Rhys hated change, she wanted to live in her few days of happiness and he was keeping her from doing that. Her mood went from happy to upset and angry in only a few moments. With one last look at Dar, she shook her head and dove deep.
The sting of the salthingyer against her eyes, helped as she realized what she wanted to do. The theif popped her head above water and motioned with her head to Dar that she was swimming to shore. She had a contest waiting her and she wanted in on it now. If salthingyer made the pain go away, then drinking had to.
Driving deep again, Rhys began the slow swim towards shore. It was just far enough to get her muscles pumping and a slight burn to start. Dar seemed to keep up despite a bit of struggling which was rather unusual for him. Stumbling into the streets soaking wet, Rhys didn't care. She just wanted to get to that game and get it over with.
There it was, The Golden Mermaid. Rhys pushed the door open with a clang and looked around. Eve, Emma and Tobbs were all sitting around a table and bets were already being taken on the winner. Rhys shoved her way through the crowd angrily, "Starting without me?" She pulled a chair up and plopped down into it. "Couldn't wait five seconds for a poor girl to pull herself out of the ocean before you started the game?"
She glared at the table and then slammed her hand on the table, "Let's get this started. I want to get drunk and I want to get drunk fast."

Red hair astray, blue eyes cold as ice, Avery stalked the streets of Tortuga. It was back to his old life until he could find another crew. He was still uncertain of how he had manged to survive his ship sinking, but he had and now he needed to survive.
And there they were, an easy dinner just now walking out of a house. With a small grin, Avery started out. A man and a woman and both looked to entertained by the other to notice him. Avery stumbled towards them, faining drunk. A drunk was only given a glance and nothing more. It was always like that. He stumbled into the pair, a flick of his wrist quickly releaving the two of their heavy purses.
With a fake hiccup, Avery continued his stumble with only a quick look back and a small sorry. But that one look back froze him solid. He straightened and turned around, holding the purses out with a small oops. "Captain Ba'bossa!" he called. "I thought you had died when ouh ship sank!"
Avery was in shock, perhaps he didn't have to return to the life of a theif after all. Perhaps he would be taken back, that is if he wasn't killed for stealing from his Captain.

Dark eyes strained to look ahead. There small boat bumped into the Pearl's side and the Commodore shot a glare at the rowers. "S,sorry...Commodore..." One of them began to apologize but he Commodore simply brought a finger to his lips in order to command the silence he required. Staring up at the ship, he stood for a moment, still as the waters beneath them. There was not a sound upon the ship. They must all be gone, or so he wagered.
He gave the signal and a rope tethered by a metal claw was tossed overhead and latched upon the Pearl's banister, its claws sinking deeply into the wood. There was a tug and it did not budge. The Commodore took over from there, taking the line between his palms, clasping it hard, and beginning to scale the ship. In the cover of darkness and using the ship as a veritable shield itself, he and Mr. Perry boarded the ship, landing upon its decks as light as a cat.
Scanning the deck, the Commodore kept a firm hand upon the handle of his blade. He had learned throughout his time upon the seas that preparation was simply fifty percent of the job when combating pirates. You simply could not prepare yourself and believed you had covered all of the corners, pirates were far too unpredictable. You never knew what some of these savages might reveal. Jack and his crew were of course, no exception.
"Take the stern, I'll take the hull." Norrington whispered, crouching out of pure instinct to hide himself better. The Commodore was quite a tall man really and he had never completely felt comfortable with his stature when sneaking around, even when he was a boy. The floorboards creaked and moaned as if in protest to the inevitable intrusion.
There was no turning back now, the Commodore would have Sparrow, all he needed now was leverage. Nosing about he managed to find the lower decks that led to the various rooms. It was clear whose room belonged to whom and finding Jack's...
the Commodore Patrick Norrington smirked triumphantly.

Tobbs laughed at Evelyn’s challenging words and shook her head. This indeed would be quite the challenge, to overcome Evelyn and Emma in a drinking contest. She always knew the two could never REALLY be beaten, but it was fun to keep herself on the hopeful side of things.
“Alrigh’, I’m all ready mates. You two re-“
And all of a sudden Rhys was in the chair next to her. She blinked, glanced to the door, and looked back to Rhys. Smiling welcomingly, she shrugged.
“Well I was ‘opin’ ta get all the rum I could get as well. The more the merrier, aye?”
The drinks were placed before them, and the betters were howling for things to begin. Tobbs stole one last look at Jack before slipping her hand around the mug.
“Let’s begin, shall we? In Three......Two.......One.....NOW!”
She took a quick swig and that was all that was needed to drain the mug. She knew the first rounds would be easy....she’d have to be wary of the last. When all were fnished, she glanced around. Again she counted down, and again she left the mug empty. As the contest continued, she didn’t feel the effects of rum getting to her...yet...usually she drank when she was angry, which in turn made her angry when she was drunk. However, if there was no reason to call for being angry, she’d have mood swings between totally blissful and clumsy to frustratedly, randomly angry. Odd combination...
“I’m a...not feelin’ anythin’ mates..”
Another round commenced, one where she struggled a bit to get it all down. Had to pace herself.
She asked Rhys how she was doing and slowly, her words combined and slurred a bit. Tobbs had a rather large grin set upon her lips. She wouldn’t be dropping out yet-not until she saw Emma or Evelyn on the tip of getting themselves drunk....and that worried her, for she knew she’d not stop herself until then.

~Bossa~
::Barbossa smirked down at Christiana, slipping a firm arm around her waist:: "Patience, me beauty.... I'm rather enjoyin' the evenin' with ye, when yer not pullin' knives on me," ::he said, tilting his hat slightly. They continued down the street for a few moments, passing one of the many local drunks, before Barbossa suddenly stopped. Someone had just called his name::
::He spun around, somewhat surprised to see the same drunk holding up his wallet, an equally shocked expression on his face. He growled and stepped forward::
"Ye filthy, good-fer-nothin', mangey CAD!" ::He snatched the wallets -- for the thief had apparently taken Christiana's as well -- then blinked. Something about this man looked....familiar....::
"...AVERY?! How in th' blazes did ye survive?!"

Christiana laughed softly at Barbossa's comment, allowing herself to melt against his side. She had no intention of trying to harm him again;it had been difficult enough the first time. They ambled along the streets of Tortuga with little purpose that she could discern.Nothing really seemed out of the ordinary...just the usual drunks staggering around. As one knocked into them, she was vaguely aware of a weight lifting from her belt, and as her own years picking pockets had taught her, that could only mean one thing.
She turned, fully intending to toss one of her knives straight through the man's neck and take back what was hers, but paused before her hand could reach her weapon."You know this man?"she asked Barbossa, raising an eyebrow as she took her own wallet back from Barbossa.

(YAY bossa and christiana! Good, and I’m moving this along so we can get Evy’s part happening before she leaves!!!!!!!)
The rum contest had started to come to a close, and Tobbs was...well, COMPLETELY content, to say the least. She was laughing rather hysterically for no apparent reason at all. Pushing her chair back from the table, Tobbs tried getting every last drop out of the mug before her. She eyed the inside of it and muttered something.
“B..b-bartender, ifyacouldgetmesumoreothisrumma,Iddabemuch...ob-LIGED.”
Of course she didn’t need anymore, and somehow the bartender was dissuaded to give her more (she guessed Jack had something to do with it). Tobbs stood up....well, managed to look like she was standing upright....and then collapsed to the floor in a fit of laughter.
“Jaaaaaaack! Capn,” Ia, IathinkImmadone.Comeoverereannaelpmeupalready!”
Really, it seemed her sentences were one really long, really diffivult word. Her words were fast and slurred, and between little hiccups, she wasn’t even breaking for breaths in between. Grabbing the chair, she pulled herself up. When some stranger tried helping her, she pushed him off. Her shove was a bit too hard, because she began walking uncontrollably and falling in the same direction she pushed. Again, she fell right on the foor. However, this time she managed to bring down a table of some pirates before she landed.
Crawling towards Jack, she managed to reach him without killing anyone...yet...

::Jack went to help Tobbs up, but as he did the hair on the back of his neck stood on end. Something was terribly wrong. So very wrong. Jack snapped into alertness....his eyes narrowed to slits, and they seemed to gleam.::
"Everyone back to the PEARL!" He shouted. His voice was a demand that could not be disobeyed. :: "NOW! EVERYONE, AS IF YER LIVES DEPEND ON IT!" ::Jack's sword was out and he held Tobbs up close to him.:: "Luv...come on now, don't fail me.....we need to get back to the Pearl...please luv....."
::But he couldn't wait....he marched to the door and flung it open and stared towards the docks.....there he saw something that made his blood freeze.........he could just make out the black sails of the Pearl......and next to the white sails of another ship....................which was flying the colors of the royal navy...........:::
"Norrington....ye fool.....ye bloody fool........."
