::Jack only laughed that much harder:: "Ye don't weigh more then a gold coin, luv, so don't think I'll drop ye...."
::Then she tried tickling him and he smirked, and yelped a bit when she was sucessful:: "Don't make me fling ye into the water." Jack laughed, as he walked through the streets with her, earning him quite a few strange looks. He didn't care. He liked holding into her::
::When asked where they were going Jack seemed to ponder that over a while then shrugged:: "Anywhere that looks interestin' I suppose....." ::That being said his eye found a store and he nudged the door open and looked around. mostly clothing items and some jewelry......he eyed it all. He should get a new shirt....just in case........:
::Then he looked at Tobbs:: "See anything ye like, luv?"

“IS that right? Always a good thing to ‘ear that then! As long as you don’t trade me in fer some rum I’m ‘appy compared to a coin...”
She laughed a bit as he yelped, clinging onto him tighter whne he mentioned throwing her into the water.
“You wouldn’t...”
Of course she knew he totally would, and as she relaxed again, she eyed the nearby water with some deliberation. When she saw strangers giving them oddlooks, she grinned a bit more, continuing to play around with Jack’s neck and cheek, trying to find another weakness of his. When they entered the store, she ended her game with a little kiss upon his neck as a signal she was done.
As Jack looked around, she eyed the surrounding items, wondering if there was something she should need or use, really. Jewels, clothing, beads....hmmm...nothing immediately caught her fancy, but when Jack asked, she had an answer. She looked up into his eyes with a content expression shadowing her face.
“Yes...looking right at it...”
Of course Tobbs wasn’t known for being romantic and otherwise NICE to everyone, but with Jack things were different. Her smile grew and she glanced away, pretending to take interest in some sash in order to keep herself from looking at him at the moment. Sure she knew she luved him, but as said before-she wasn’t used to those sorts of things, and for her to even say them herself was a bit of a new experience!

::Jack looked at her when she said she'd found something she liked, saw she was staring at him and laughed:: "Aye, luv but ye already have me." ::He smiled a bit at her, and held onto her, then watched her turn away to look at a sash.::
::He picked up a gold colored sash and held it near her hair, and smiled:: "Matches your hair well....."::But his eyes landed on something else. A pendant so bright it made him blink. It was a simple thin. A sapphire about the size of Tobbs' pinkie finger's nail. it was shaped like a raindrop, and something about it reminded him of both the sea and Tobb's eyes at once. He bought it on the spot while Tobb's was busy looking at things::
::Was a perfect gift for her. He also brought a shirt. Bout time he did. his current shirt was near rags. He never brought many clothes..and if he needed new clohes he sometimes stole them......but in Tortuga....it was stupid to steal from a store....chances were the owner would shoot you on the spot for trying......so you had to buy.....::
::The shopkeeper eyed Jack when he brought the pendant:: "Will you be wanting a chain for that?" He asked Jack. The pirate considered then nodded: "Nothing gold or silver. You have anything that's......different?" The shopkeeper raised an eyebrow, then figured Jack wasn't joking and pulled out a slender, delicate chain of pale metal. Platinum. or white gold, Jack wasn't sure and neither was the shopkeeper, but he bought it at once::
::Holding this gift in his pockets Jack returned to Tobb's side.:: "Find anything?"

Post by Commodore Patrick Norrington on Jun 8, 2005 1:00:44 GMT -5
Lost in thought, the Commodore continued to scratch notes in inky liquid upon the tartan paper at hand. There were many things that needed logging, how his day began, what he set out to do, what he wore, what he ate, what sort of sword he chose to arm himself with for the impending battle that later consumed much of the morning. It was not the most invigorating thing to be doing, but he did it nonetheless, and took pride in it. This was his life really, all stacked into the pages of this leatherbound journal. It was any Captain's legacy really, his logs, journal entries.
As he sat and finished his work, his dark eyes passed around his room. To the far right there sat his bed, neatly tucked against the wall, a stack of scrolls upon the chest at the end of it. His spare coats, boots, and hats all hung neatly to the left, along with a large table nearby containing fruit and all manner of long lasting foods. On the wall hung a portrait of his mother, long passed now. His father's beside hers with a stern look about him. He rarely spoke with him now. Being as how they were several oceans away, the Commodore could only hope to venture back to England someday in good stature to gain a bit of approval from him. That involved of course, finding a home, building a life. The title helped, but a wife is what he needed, not right away of course, but it would be a nice thought.
Drumming his fingers upon the tabletop for a moment, he leaned back in his chair, and stared up. It had been a long time since he had seen Elizabeth really and last she had heard, she had gone and had two children with William Turner. There was nothing left to do really, but smile and wish them well. It had been that way at their wedding. He was truly happy for her of course, all he wanted was for her to be happy. If that meant being with another, then that is how it would be.
Just then, a rapping came upon his door. "Commodore?" The voice asked. "Yes? Who calls?" he asked as he sat up straight in his seat, hands lazily in his lap, and raising his eyes to meet the door. "Its one of the Pirates sir." It was Perry, his awkward tone that attempted to be somewhat demanding was discernible even from this distance. "Have one of them escaped, Perry?" The Commodore asked in a tired tone, one daring him to find something more interesting to bring up. He stood then, rubbed his face with his hands, and placed his hands upon his waist, awaiting a reply. "Well...well...no sir." He began with a bit of a stutter. "Then please do not disturb me Mr. Perry. I think at the moment it is imperative I get my rest." He said with a slight sigh, hoping this slight plead would force the man into some sort of guilt that would cause him to leave him be.
Shedding his coat from his shoulders, he made towards his bed, glancing it over with a discernible longing within them. "Sleep..." he said in a whisper. "Yes but sir! Sir one of the Pirates...you may wish to hear this." Perry continued stubbornly, his voice muffled by the thick wood between them both. "I doubt anything a pirate may have to say would concern me at all." He spat in disgust, fiddling with his cuffs and beginning to loosen them from his wrists.
There was a quiet moment then, and for a moment, the Commodore believed that perhaps Perry had simply walked away.
"Yes but sir...he knows the crew of the Black Pearl..."

Tobbs smiled at his words, feeling twice as happy hearing them while little chills made her heart tingle. She closed her eyes for a moment when Jack was looking over a few things, sighing deeply and whispering something inaudible, but no doubtedly whole hearted and grateful...perhaps soon Jack would know what she said?
“Hm? It does indeed...let’s see it!”
Putting the sash about her waist and examining herself in an old, worn mirror, she played around posing and whatnot, picking up random bits of jewelry, other articles of clothing, and an oddly shaped hat. By the time Jack had come back to her, she looked more or less like a badly disguised scarecrow, or perhaps some sort of animal with a bad fashion sense.
“What do you think? Will the British accept me as one of their own now?”
She dipped low as if to bow, which in turn caused a poofy fur headband to slip off and an oddly shaped boot to get clumsily stuck. She wiggled her leg to get it free, but unfortunately she tipped her balance and began tripping over a long coat that was four sizes larger than herself! Trying to catch herself, she grabbed ahold of everything around her and managed to start bringing everything beside her with her towards the ground. All that was left to grab was-
“JACK!”

::Jack yelped, and lept forward, catching hold of her arm, she was already holding him. And for about a second it looked as if Jack would win over gravity. He brought her up towards him, but he was over balenced....Jack was never really balenced anyway....she was falling towards him...then they both tumbled over. Jack twisted a bit, catching hold of her, as they fell back. The mirror was coming down after them!::
::And he landed on his back, with a loud thump. The mirror followed and Jack's leg's snapped up, and hit teh wooden sides of it, stopping it's progress down, but landing in an odd fashion. Jack breathed out in a low whistle, and kicked forward gently with his legs, and the mirror tilted back and landed on the wall again. Jack's hands had gone up protectively over Tobb's over her head and neck.::
::Then he glanced at her:: "Can't figure out if it was the sweet saints that made me love you, or the vengeful demons of the sea." With that he sat up carefully, and ran his hands once through her hair, as if checking for any injuries. He found nothing and smiled:: "Are ye alright then, luv?"

Tobbs blinked, and it all really happened in a flash. First Jack was pulling her up, then he was falling down, then she heard a creak and the mirror was falling down, then she was down with everything around her, and in the end she simply closed her eyes until all manner of silence and peace was about her.
When it was, her eyes were met with that of Jack’s sitting form, who was currently checking for any damage done. Coughing a bit from the dust, she sat up slowly, a big, innocent smile forming at the edges of her mouth, as if she was barely managing not to completely lose control.
“I’d um...say ‘twas both...and aye, I’m not ‘urt I don’t think, are ye?”
‘WELL YER GOIN’ TA BE IN A MINUTE YA FILTHY IDIOTS! LOOK WHAT YE’VE DONE!!!!’
A shot rang out into the ceiling of the store and Tobbs’s eyes widened. She grabbed Jack’s hand and the two of them tumbled out of the store and around the corner while bullets whizzed passed their ankles. They managed to hide in the alley before Tobbs let go of his hand, laughing uncontrollably as a lady’s lacey glove hung off the tip of her shoe.
“I...I...I..it was..and ‘e was..and..geesh Jack, yer gonna get us killed...”
She finally managed to catch her breath, leaning up against the wall of the alley and shredding herself of all the article she’d been trailing with her now. Holding up a feathered quill and eying it curiously, she held it towards Jack.
“Whatcha think?”

::Jack burst into a gale force of laughter as they tore from the store, no doubt leaving a trail of destruction behind them. He laughed that much harder as Tobbs' produced a feathered quill and held it up for analyzing. Jack only snickered that much more and struggled to keep his ribs from cracking::
::Finally he looked out of the ally and down the street. No more gunshots to be heard....least none close enoughto be their enraged shopkeeper:: "I'm gonna get us killed? I think I was the one who saved that mirror from breakin' on yer head, luv.":He laughed some more then wiped the tears from his eyes. ::
::Then he reached into his pocket and without really saying anything fastened the new chain and pendant around Tobbs' neck, and then kissed her hand: "A jewel for the graceful lady." He said with just a hint of teasing in his voice. He took her hand and began walking. He wasn't sure if the shopkeeper would try to reload and go after them. He hoped not. Either way....best to find a nice tavern to duck into soon::

Tobbs was laughing as he mentioned the mirror, shaking her head as if totally not guilty for the fact she destroyed the store. She hadn’t really caught what Jack was up to until she felt something about her neck. Placing her hand upon it and glancing down, her eyes caught hold of the pendant and she gasped softly to herself. She was speechless at first, and when Jack’d kissed her hand, she was even more so.
She was still trying to muster up the words to speak when they began walking down the street, no doubt towards some tavern or the one they’d be meeting the others at. Finally, she paused in step, halting Jack’s leading her and waiting for him to face her.
“Jack...it’s beautiful...thank you..really.”
She added her thanks with a kiss on his cheek, entirely enjoying his company and glad to be a part of it. Snuggling up to his side, she kept her hold on his hand, looking around their surroundings for some sort of sign to stop and seek refuge from an angry store keeper. Really, Tortuga didn’t add TOO much comfort in that area, but there was always hope..she thought...

::Jack smiled at her:: "Well...one of had to make sure you'd leave the store with something before ye wreaked it." He added with a touch of humor but he only squeezed her hand and a litle then lead her down a street into a more open area of Tortuga. He could see a tavern that was cleaner then most, and he walked through the doors, just glad to be with Tobbs.::
::The tavern itself was roomy....more like a restrurant...a restrurant a druken pirate would run...but it was bigger then most......and he smiled. Then glanced at Tobbs: "Ye think ye can wait a while before you destroy this one, luv?" He asked, laughter written clearly on his face::

(I LUV YA ALL! LEAVING IN 3 HOURS! HUGS AND KISSES! NEXT WEEK I'LL SEE YA ALL! LOVE YOU!!) Tobbs followed alongside Jack, casually browsing the streets with a nonchalant overall appearance. She went where she was led, a bit distracted by her glances at shops, and people, and dogs, and breaking glass...the works in Tortuga.
Finally realizing she was in a tavern, her eyes lit up, and she looked up at Jack with an expression simialr to that of a child who just discovered the most exciting thing in the world (like a lollipop...except her excitement was over rum).
Sarcastically looking accused as he spoke, she took a seat up on the table rather than in a chair beside it, pulling him closer as she leaned her head against his chest.
"Fine fine, I'll just sit 'ere and wait for the others to get 'ere before I tear the place down...they need to remodel anyways!"
Laughing softly, she closed her eyes and began to feel a bit sleepy, really. Life...had been beautiful lately. Something Tobbs never quite knew could truly be...well, true. She'd heard of wonderful maidens and their knights of shining armor, but they had all been fairy tales to her. Nothing had been true before but the hard life of a child who was all alone.
She was older now, and she was not alone anymore. She had the crew, her friends, her family really. They were all she had, and she'd settle for them any day. She had Jack, the man she looked up to, the one person she truly dared to give her life for, to show whom she really was, and to give one of the msot abused things in her life-her love and her heart.
Now, she could safely close her eyes in a tavern, with the person she loved, and feel...safe...content...whole, really. Like she was somebody she knew, and somebody that mattered now.
"If I fall asleep...maybe...maybe you can let me sleep....after all, didn't get too much sleep last night, what with waking at sunrise and all...plus...if ya don't move, I could sleep like this forever...you and me, safe. 'appy. even if it's only a moment...it's still a moment I can luv..."
She could already feel herself getting sleepier and sleepier, but she wanted that rum, and that contest, and that chance to laugh with friends once more. But then, there was always tomorrow, wasn't there? Or...was there?
"Or maybe you should wake me...maybe...well...do what ya will Jack, do what ya will. I trust you."
And that was the truth. For, even if she did have to wait for a week to come and celebrate the time she shared with the crew, and with the captain, wasn't waiting worth it? Wasn't their friendship?
Of course...

::Jack only gave Tobbs a half smirk when she entioned that the tavern needed remodeling, that she'd wait till the crew arrived to tear the place to shreads. The man behind the bar looked at Jack, clearly recalling his own or Victoria's face from other past events in his bar, and seemed to think over the idea of kicking them out here and now. The crew of the Black Pearl had a reputation for causing small scale chaos wherever they went. And Jack had no doubt this particular barkeeper had their faces memorized.::
::But Jack knew how to keep the peace. He flicked a gold coin towards the bar, and the man caught it deftly in his hand, then nodded at Jack. For a gold coin Jack and his crew could tear the roof off, and the gold coin would more then cover it. Jack smiled over at him and nodded, then turned his attention back to Tobbs, who seemed on the verge of just taking a nap there and then::
"Right then luv, you just sleep, and I'll wake ye up if anything worth watchin' occurs savvy?" And Jack sat rather motionless, allowing himself to be used as a pillow, which as quite alright by him, and peered at Tobbs. least she was taking some time to rest, heaven knew she didn't do that often, but she did ick the oddest places to rest.::
::But Jack kept himself amused, watching the other occupants of the bar start fights, throw things, start shouting. The barman watched it all without flickering an eye. This was a small scale mess...everyday madness..........Jack watched a mug of rum go sailing through the air.::
"Wicked waste." Jack muttered as the rum crashed into the wall not more then ten feet from him and shouted:: "Oi! Don't go wastin' perfectly good drink like that, ye bleedin' pig!" His call was joined by a few other onlookers, who clearly saw the waste of rum as high a sin as threatening another pirate's mother.::
::The thrower of rum looked up, ready to say sorry, even in the middle of his bawl, but was knocked out by a blow to the head. Jack shook his head. Amature fighter no doubt. Which somehow made him thinkof Will. He wondered how the old eunuch was doing. He'd have to find a way to visit the Turners. maybe comandeer another small ship and sail into Port Royale under British colors........he could by some clothes that would pass as respectable someplace and go visit. He'd no doubt that he could track the Turners down........::
::Thinking this over made his face change to an expression that would almost make him look angry. And a man, clearly drunk, took this as a challenge:: "Ye wanna fight?" The man asked, drawing his sword. Jack blinked, confused at first, then realized the man was just out looking for a fight.:
"No thanks, mate. try the barman. I'm watchin' my lady...'
"Then maybe the lady will fight for ye..." The man snarled, and reached for Tobbs. Jack's sword was out before the man could blink. Jack's eyes had turned steely and hard.
"Lay a finger on her, mate, and you'll spend the rest of your life without your hand and wishin' ye never saw me......savvy?" The man blinked bloodshot eyes and ambled off in the direction of the bar. Jack watched him go, then put his sword away. He wondered now when the crew was to arrive::

((Jack harassed me all of yesterday to come back to the site. Mind you, I had been thinking about it for a while but didn't have the time. Hope all of you don't mind me coming back as Roux. I'm not playing him as an all powerful god this time. just a human for now, with a few tricks up his sleeve. So, here I go))
Roux walked the streets of Tortuga with the casual air of one looking for nothing in particular but would know what he was looking for once he stumbled over it. He did stick out like a sore thumb in this place, due to the simple fact that unlike the majority of of the population here, Roux was not covered in dirt and the smell of rum.
he was in fact cleanly shaven and dressed in decent clothes, clean clothes. Roux had left the Black Pearl some time ago, and regretted the choice almost at once. So he was quite happy when during this walk he spotted the black sails in the harbor. Going at once to the nearest harbormaster he asked: "The captain of that ship with the black sails....where is he?"
"you mean Jack Sparrow? Don't know. He left with some golden hair lass not more then an hour ago. Best just to follow the gunshots. That's where he'll be."
Roux only smiled that much more broadly. So Jack was in town and not far. Great! He'd follow the path of chaos, and sure enough he found the angry shopkeeper in no time. Roux tried hard to keep a straight face when the man described Jack as a "mess causing rat." and Tobbs as a "stick o' dynamite with a pretty face." Roux nodded his thanks and left the shop, peering into the morning sunlight and wondering where his former captain and his lady had run off to. Well if he didn't find them now he could always wait until sunset then listen for the loudest most destructive fight going on in a bar.
That thought in mind he headed towards the more popular bars, whistling as a he went on his way.

*(I'm back! Yippie!)*
*Lily had disembarked with the rest of the crew, waving goodbye to Tobbs and Jack as she made for the shops in Tortuga. It was a beautiful day! And Tortuga for all it's rowdy ways, was a welcomed sight!*
*She was amazed to spot their old crewmate, Roux in the distance and walked towards him, a smile on her face. She didn' think a person like Roux would end up in Tortuga. She'd figured he'd settle down in a place more like Port Royal. but wonders never cease and she bounded over to him*
"ROUX! Of all places to find you! What are you doing here? Looking for Jack or Tobbs? They've probably already headed to one of the taverns. But I know they'll be glad to see you! Are you going to join us when we set sail? I know Jack would be glad to have you!"
*Lily knew she was babling, but didn't care. She was happy to see an old friend again.*

(Everyone else was coming back. I figured I might as well come too. can't let all of you have the fun)
Kalin walked up the street, knowing his twin Jason had already left the ship a few minutes eariler. no doubt to find some sort of practical object he felt was needed for the ship. Kalin smirked, knowing if something were to go wrong, his older brother could figure it out.
He himself went in search of something to do. Not a tavern just yet. It was far too early. And he only had a few coins to his name, so he couldn't very well go shop for anything, yet. He'd just "borrow" whatever he needed later. Maybe the lagoon near the back ports of Tortuga. A swim would be nice. The water there was a bit less salty, and it was warm enough outside to be dry within a few minutes.
So he turned east now on the street, and walked towards the lagoon. he'd found this quiet place a long time ago while exploring with his brother. You had to dive from a small cliff to get into it. not as if it was a huge drop. maybe 15 feet down. Then you could swim through a small cavern and walk through a small entrance to end up on a small grey sand beach.
In no time he was near the lagoon. Taking off his boots and shirt, and anything he didn't want to get ruined in the water, he dove straight in, grinning at the feel of the cool water. Once there he swam a few laps around the lagoon and basically enjoyed the day.
