Just stumbled across the site today. You really should find a better place to put it, someone could get hurt. ;D
First off, I'm wondering if the RPG campaign is still in session? I noticed it hadn't been posted in since March, or am I looking in the wrong place?
Also, is there an application process, or does one just create an account and dive right in?
The site looks to be a great deal of fun, looking forward to joining everyone.
Regards, Lucky Jack

Omg... it's a newbie... *yells loudly* Em', Bossa, Eric, Tobbs, Evy COME QUICK!!!! Let's catch this one before it slips away! =^.^= Seriously though... can't remember the last time we had a real live newbie that actually seemed interested.
*Takes off hat, and bows deeply* Our apoligies for not replying sooner. Usualy I'm right here, ready to give an answer to anyone, but you see... we've all been gone... for a very long time. This site was at the top of it's game back when the first film came out. We have many members, the included Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Barbossa, Elizabeth, Norrington, and even Gov. Swan. However as time went by, people left for college, jobs, and other un fun rl stuff. Myself (who would tend to play a huge amount of characters at a time) would regularly get in trouble with the higher powers, and have to leave for many months at a time. Slowly the site sank into oblivion, especially after Jack left.
When the new movie was annouced, several of us wandered back here in hopes of finding each other again, and by gum we did! Quickly we started up a new rpg and banding together set out on another adventure. Unfortunately... I dont really know what happened. But I think between school stuff (for some people) work (for others) and my own pestering and then sudden dissapearance... the rpg just stopped... and died.
The answer to your question is this. Jump right in. Sign up, create a character and story, and leave messages everywhere. Maybe you and the film coming out in two days will be enough of a spark to light the fire... I'm alerting the rest of the crew. Perhaps we can yet again ressurect that which was lost.
*grins and putting her hat back on looks around at her myriad of characters and friends.* We're all a little dusty, and still a bit rusty, but I think we have what it takes to embark on another adventure.
Welcome... to the Caribbean...
~The Saberkat
(quick note.... you may want to come up with a different name... Jack has kinda become sacred and well used around here... just a thought)
~Saber edit~ and omg... this was my 666 post XD how very ironic ~

My thanks for the...enthusiastic...response. ;D I suppose a bit of explanation of my intent is in order, and to assure you all that I by no means intend to take the name Jack in vain. I am a great fan of the Master and Commander series of novels by Patrick O'Brien, and also of the recent movie of the same name. Many of you here may have seen it already, and if not, I would encourage you to do so. It is sadly lacking in cursed treasure and skeletal pirates (and Jack Sparrow) but it is a fantastic representation of 19th century naval life. The hero of the stories is a young Royal Navy captain by the name of Jack Aubrey, referred to as Lucky Jack by his crewmen, for his uncanny sailing sense and good fortune in taking prizes. Yes, I am aware that the universe of POTC takes place a great deal sooner, but if we are prepared to forgive having Davy Jones and krakens in our stories, I'm sure we can forgive a few historical inaccuracies. I hope to play here as Lucky Jack if that sits well with the Powers That Be. Since the pirate side of the coin is well represented here, I thought perhaps he could be assigned to the Caribbean area under Commodore Norrington as a foil to all of these scurvy scallywags sailing the seas just as bold as kiss your hand. If anyone is interested, these are my main roleplaying credentials: I am a site admin and moderator/player at the following site. I go by the alias The Force, among several other player character identities: cojothesane.proboards30.com/I am also a moderator at the following site. This was my first online RPGing "home," and still holds a dear place in my heart. I go by the alias Strong Guy: xevolved.proboards35.com/I shall take your advice and begin my character registration immediately. I hope to see you on the waves soon. A stiff breeze and calm seas to all!

*Evelyn peaks around the corner and tiptoes in quite silently* Did I hear we 'ave a new member?
Haha! Welcome to the site Lucky Jack. I haven't read the series but I did see the film, it was very good I thought! And yes, while it lacked pirates and treasures and well...rum, it did have its fine merits of course. Well I am here to echo Saber and Kat, we have all indeed dispersed a bit and had gone our seperate ways. Many of us got caught up in personal lives and things but it seems that the new pirate film is making us a beacon yet again for membership which is nice! I knew it probably would, its why I took a look back here.
Anyway, as for the current RPG...hm...I wonder if it IS salvageable or if we should all start afresh? Its difficult to start these things up as we like to have some sort of consensus on the general outline before anything gets started. I hope you stick around as we have some wonderful members on here.
Anyway, you seem as if you MIGHT have the credentials to join our little crew here. :-) And I am glad to see you are willing to be under the good command of our beloved Norry. He would be excited to have you on his crew as well, there is a scarce amount of members who join his side at all indeed. Anyway welcome to the site, have a good look around, and hope to get something started here soon!

:gasps and dies:
:Rick runs by, revives Em, and scampers back out until he's needed:
Thank ye, Rick...
And welcome aboard, Jack! It's lovely t'see a new face around here.
:elbows Evy playfully: We'd love to have you along for the rpg, and, as my esteemed colleague has noted, it's nice to have someone in the Navy (for once ^^;; )
Looking forward to seeing more of you in these waters!

Ah gotcha... understand the whole name thing now. Master and Commander is one of my favorite films. Yeah thats fine... as the other have said we'd love to have a navy guy around again. Adds some extra flavor to the site. I should tell you that we havent seen Norrington in a long time though, and I'm not sure any efforts are being made to track him down... so it may end up that you take his place as main Naval officer... we'll see how things play out.
Your credentials were not needed but rediculously impressive. lol. Technically all you need to have to be here is a love of the films, a love of roleplaying, and a bad sense of sanity and morals... wait... did I just say that last part out loud?
"Aye... ya did."
Drat... Anyways welcome aboard. And although you may see up to 20 characters playing around on the site... I'm going to warn you. It's only about 6 people actually still members... which can get confusing. lol
If you need help or have a question feel free to drop any of us a line. We all tend to comunicate via IM and we hold "moots" and "meeting" to decide what the main rpg is going to be about. (actually these meetings get quite out of hand sometimes... takes someone sane like me to get them under control.) Seems we might be holding one pretty soon here. If you'd like some say on what the main rpg is about, just let us know.
Oh and if you want to, we actually love it when people play more then one character at a time.

Again, I thank everyone for their warm welcome.
Done, done, and done.
My Star Wars site is similar, I could probably count the number of actual players there without needing all my fingers, but we have several dozen characters. I myself have six of them.
At some point in the future, I may take on another character or two, but with my other obligations it's probably best I focus my attention on one character for now. I've found out the hard way that when I attempt to juggle too many characters, all of them suffer.

Wow, so far you've beat me in characters.. well sort of... I have 16 characters who are actually alive right now... but I don't play all of them at once. Normally I shoot for 4 or 5 characters in a single RPG.
Glad to hear you'll fit right in! lol.

Welcome to our crazy little site here Jack Aubery, always glad to see another guy in the Caribbean (granted that can get confusing too as I am actually a girl who role plays quite a few guys, including Will...yeah.... ;D ) And I've also seen Master and Commander, its an excellent film indeed! Our site does seem to flourish and flounder often but thats never because we loose interest or enthusiasm for our RPG's or for this site and the films, its simply as the others said, RL just wont stop getting in the way of the important things like this site and our characters haha! Well I'm looking forward to having you with us when our next RPG gets up and running (or if this one is salvaged?) Welcome to the Caribbean mate, you're in for a very interesting time!
